This is a story of love. A young man falls in love; his parents fight to hold onto their love. But is the concept obsolete? The whole world seems to conspire against them. Justin's friend competes for the same girl, and his cheerleader friend fights for Justin's affections. His parents' friends believe their marriage - like all others - is destined for failure. Each is stretched to breaking, and each makes bad decisions to try to stave off even worse decisions. Ultimately their fate is decided by the one Justin calls "The Freak:" his elder brother, Will.

I just started this to publish a poem I wrote about school shootings, but I do dabble in poetry so this might grow into something else in the future. I'm not here to start arguments, I'm here for the community and freedom to explore. So while sharing your opinions in a respectful manor on any situations brought up in this book or any other book on this page are welcome, please stay civil. America is screwed up enough without the all the infighting. We don't need to feed that beast any more.

***Preview of the first 5 chapters*** For seventeen-year-old Bria Hale, image is everything. She’s a militant vegan with purple hair, Doc Martens and a permanent scowl. Kissing captain of the football team Ben Harris? Definitely not part of that image. Now with each secret kiss, she’s falling deeper for the boy every girl at Oceanside High is crushing on. Throw in a few forbidden bacon cheeseburgers and she’s facing one major identity crisis. Ignoring Ben should be easy, but when a flashy display of artistic spirit lands her in close quarters after hours with the boy she’s too cool to like, she can’t keep pretending those kisses meant nothing. With her reputation and her heart on a collision course, Bria must either be true to herself or to the persona she’s spent all of high school creating. The Art of Falling, published by Bloomsbury Spark, is available in its entirety wherever ebooks are sold.

Two second-year students. Two broken families. One fateful night. Opal Amano (20F) has spent her whole life accommodating to circumstance. Between nursing clinicals, the weight of her grandparents' expectations, and the guilt of a divorce she never asked for, she's learned to mute her desires to fulfill others' expectations and needs. Even at the expense of her own happiness. Riki Nishimura (19M) has found a different way to navigate the crushing expectations and pressures his parents demand from him. By day, he's a business major, meeting the expectations placed on him as the oldest son expected to take over the family business. By night, he disappears into L.A.'s underground scene to live his true passion: dance. Fate, a beautiful magnet, brings these two together during their most vulnerable time to comfort each other in an unexpected place: a bus stop. Fate, a cruel puppeteer, converts their sincere connection into a point of manipulation for their families to trap them in everything they've been trying to escape: class, expectations, pressure, and the futures they're supposed to perform. Now they must decide whether their connection is a means of autonomy and finally choosing their own desires openly, or falling into the web of control and manipulation that both of their families have set forth. "Broken Fragments" is a slow-burn story about two exhausted souls navigating identity, family pressure, and the iridescent fragments that can either culminate to form a beautiful mural, or blind one's eyes from the truth and form irreparable scars.

The southern counties of California are notorious For being crazy little artistic goofballs who are too attractive for their own good and would probably meet the same fate as Icarus if given the chance. Well, four of them in particular... Los Angeles, the ex prima-donna herself San Diego, absolute hottie of a man Orange County, a Disney adult who's very unaware of her surroundings (also LAs more mentally stable younger sister) And of course, Riverside, San Diego's little brother who's kinda just along for the ride Watch as the rest of Southern California tries to pretend that they don't know these four, and also watch as the rest of California tries to pretend Southern California is an entirely different state. Enjoy.
