(I haven't been writing a lot lately... :( To be clear I have no idea what I'm doing T-T Disclaimer: Most chapters are Grian-centric. But there are chapters about other hermits :D Disclaimer 2: Also past Hermitcraft members are mentioned because earlier chapters were written before they left. I'm not going to adjust it because I'm lazy :P

Looking back on it, Jimmy blames the garden for everything that's happened. After all, that's where he found the box, which led to Deepfrost, which led to this whole spiral of backsliding further and further away from the warmth of life. It had all started simply enough- with a dungeon, and with a goal- and had, over time, meandered into a world of beasts and bosses and dangers that Jimmy never had fully been able to grasp until it was too late, until he learned what Deepfrost REALLY was. But, that's a little too close to the end of the story. Let's rewind things back to the start, back to the beginning of the game known as Deepfrost. Let's talk about the first runs, the first deadly encounters, the first small victories. Or . . . perhaps you should be left to discover that on your own. After all, Deepfrost is a game that prides itself in its own immersive experience . . . in more ways than one. --- Deepfrost is an AU that is a crossover of the games Inscryption (by Daniel Mullins) and Decked Out 2 (by Tango Tek). You don't need to know anything about either of these to enjoy this story. If you don't want spoilers for the level design of Decked Out 2 or the layout of Act 2 and some of the overarching lore of Inscryption, I would consider not reading this fic, or at least leaving it for later :]

Tired of the normal humdrum of city life, Keralis sent out an open invite to go camping with him. The first person to reply-much to his surprise-was Xisuma. He hadn't expected a quick response, especially since he assumed Xisuma was drowning in work, but the message read that he and his brother, Xavier, would love to come. Not long after, Wels and his brother, Hels, replied just as quickly, saying they wanted to join as well. Great. The next group to chime in was Team ZITS-Zedaph, Impulse, Tango, and Skizz-who announced they'd be bringing a giant camper.

Deep within the tangled root systems of the Mycelium Wilds, hidden beneath layers of moss and illusion magic, lies a facility no outsider was ever meant to find. A soft, eerie green glow pulses from the center chamber-originating from two towering bioluminescent tubes filled with strange liquid. Suspended inside are two unconscious figures-non-Hermits. Unknowns. Intruders? Gem guards them the closest, her usually cheerful demeanor replaced by unnerving calm precision as she monitors their vitals and neural patterns on flickering arcane tech. Something about their biology doesn't match anything in the Hermit archives. Their presence here... it doesn't make sense. It shouldn't be possible. Zedaph paces restlessly, muttering hypotheses too wild even for him, his hair faintly crackling with static. Etho, nearly silent, lingers in the shadows-watchful, calculating. He hasn't said who he thinks they are, but something in his posture suggests he already knows. Or worse-recognizes them. And then, one of the tubes flickers. The vitals spike. Gem stares. Because for a single second... the being inside the tube opens one glowing eye-and smiles. Whatever they are, they're waking up. And they're not alone in there.

Those people he obtained to implicate died on his own hand to make it look like he avenged his brother' death but to bury the truth. No guilt surface instead perceiving the thought of no rival to own what he wanted gives him the satisfaction. His terminally ill grandfather died in his 35 years without discovering his crime. His first subject was his brother(his first kill) and for that day he declared himself a 'hombre malo'.
