With a big smile, you walked around the paddock. You were going to surprise your best friend Max Verstappen today, and you couldn't be happier. You two hadn't seen each other in moths and today was finally the day. It was the last race of the season, so it was only right for you to be there.
'Y/N?'
You turned around and saw Max standing a few metres away from you. 'Hi,' you smiled, as it was the most normal thing on earth that you were in the paddock right now.
'You're here!' He yelled and ran over to you.
You wrapped your arms around his neck as he spun you around.
'What are you doing here? I thought you had to work!' Max said, confused.
'Well, I lied. I wanted to surprise you.'
'You're such an idiot.
'You're an idiot. I am an idiot. We're the co-presidents of Club Idiot.'
Max started to laugh. 'When did you come up with that?'
'I had a long flight to think about it,' you chuckled.
'How was it?'
'Good-.'
Before you could answer anymore, you heard someone else yell your name.
'Y/N? Is that you?' Daniel Ricciardo walked over to you and Max.
You met Daniel when he and Max were teammates. Daniel was such a nice person that you instantly became friends.
'It's me!' you smiled and hugged him.
You started to talk with him, and you noticed how much his body language changed.
'You're jealous, aren't you?' you asked him, quitting the conversation with Daniel.
'Yeah, I just want my best friend for myself now that she's here,' Max said.
You and Daniel started to laugh. 'Alright. I'll leave you too it then. Good to see you again Y/N,' Daniel said.
'You too, Dan!' You turned to Max. 'What are we going to do now?'
'I was planning to chat with Charles, Lando and George for a moment. You can come if you want?'
'Are you sure? I don't to be interrupting anything.' The fact was that you weren't really good at meeting new people. You got shy, and most of the time, you just wanted to run away from new people.
'Yeah, it'll be fine! Take a breath, you can do this.'
You looked at Max, and you shook your head. 'I can't. I...'
'Take a deep breath in Y/N... and out. You got this. Just be yourself, and everything will be fine. They'll love you.' Max grabbed your hand. 'I'll be here the whole time. If it becomes too much, just say so, and we'll leave.'
'Alright,' you said. You and Max made your way over to Charles, Lando and George who were already sitting together.
'Guys, this is Y/N,' Max said as you arrived. 'Y/N, this is Charles, Lando and George,' he introduced you to the guys.
They all welcomed you with a big smile. You sat down, and Max started to talk. You slowly joined the conversation more. They were nice guys, and you were comfortable around them, which didn't happen that much around new people.
Max looked at you to make sure that you were okay.
You gave him a small nod. Although he annoyed you sometimes, he was the best friend that you could ask for.
