Arc 2.16 Zu Tian
"It's time."
Red blood littered the execution ground as heads rolled down the crimson ground.
Wail of grief resounded in the Bai family as cheers of people resounded along the grief-stricken sound of the family members of the deceased.
Qi LianLian who was kneeling on the guillotine looked at her surroundings, her eyes finally settled at Chen Mo who was also looking at her.
"In the next life, I hope to never meet you again." These were the last words of Qi LianLian before her head fell off her neck.
Chen Mo who had seen this scene felt his heart ache for unknown or known reasons to him.
He was thinking, was he wrong?
Closing his eyes, he waited for the sharp blade to cut his neck.
"In the next life, be it richness or power, I won't make the same mistake again. I will protect you, my Lian'er."
In the last moment of Chen Mo, his memory was of that beautiful spring.
White robes like that of the lotus, there who stand was the love of my life, Qi LianLian.

"What's your name?" A question asked by an innocent boy, eyes shining like the stars filled with innocent love.
"My name? It's Qi LianLian. What about you?"
A memory that will forever be buried with him....
"I'm Chen Mo. LianLian, you are so pretty. Can I marry you in the future!"
A memory ever so beautiful yet was personally destroyed by his own hands....
"Okay! It's a promise between us!"
Though eyes filled with shock and happiness, cheeks flushed and mouth opened wide, the little girl smiled at the little boy.
That year, the fate that tangled the both of them, why did it become a nightmare?
A tragedy for both of them.
Chen Mo could not help but wonder why, and how did things end up like this.
Tears fell from his eyes together with the sharp blade that ended his thoughts.
"General Feng, its time."
The middle age palace maid cried as she assisted Feng Niao out of the cold dark room where he was being held.
"I know."
Feng Niao who had been waiting for his death stood up like the proud warrior of Wei Kingdom that he once was before he met Zu Tian.
He stood proud and tall as he made his way to the execution ground.
"General Shen..."
"Do not grieve for me. I had long accepted my fate." Feng Niao smiled.
Though he cannot see because of being blindfolded, he could hear the middle age palace maid who had kept him accompany since he entered the palace cry beside him.
He could only sigh in sadness for her as she help him walk to his doom.
Zu Tian was really ruthless as to not let him see anything until his death!
Even the blue sky was forbidden for him to see on his last day on this earth!
Sigh.
He can only blame himself for lying. Zu Tian must hate him very much. He deserves this.
"General Shen, this is where I will leave you. The rest of the way, you shall walk yourself."
The hand that was holding his hand disappeared in an instant, he was not able to react before he was left alone in the darkness.
With no one guiding him, he was left to wander in the darkness alone.
"What is happening outside?"
Feng Niao was very curious, to why people were yelling in loud voices outside. But, he was unable to see what was happening.
Worse, he can't even hear clearly what they were saying.

Suddenly, someone grabs his hand and leads him somewhere unknown.
"Who are you? Where are you taking me?"
Feng Niao who was at the mercy of the person taking hold of his hand kept on asking questions but no matter what he asked the said person kept silent.
As time goes by, the farther they walk the louder the voices of the people outside.
Hearing so, Feng Niao deducted that he was being brought to the execution ground by the said person.
"Are you bringing me to the execution ground? Is it already time? I'm going to be beheaded, right?"
Feng Niao rattled on and on until the two of them stop.
Feng Niao felt the other person close on to him.
He stiffened when he smelled the familiar scent of the person in front of him who was untying the blindfold.
When the blindfold was taken off, Feng Niao's eyes watered when he saw the familiar face hovering above him.
"T-Tian?"
Feng Niao could not believe it. The person that he had been dreaming and missing is finally right in front of him smiling as tenderly as always to him.
"Am I going to die now?" Feng Niao suddenly said destroying the atmosphere.
"Silly boy."
Zu Tian laughed and flicked Feng Niao's forehead while shaking his head.
"I'm not dreaming. Tian, you are here!"
Feng Niao quickly pounced on Zu Tian squeezing him in a tight hug. He was holding him so tightly that it was almost impossible to breath.
"A'Feng." Zu Tian smiled at Feng Niao's childish actions and also hug him back.
"No, wait. Why are you here?"
Feng Niao who snapped from his reverie looked at Zu Tian in disbelief and puzzlement.
He could not understand why Zu Tian who was supposed to be angry was smiling tenderly at him just like before with not a hint of anger.
"You still don't get it? Your really so silly."
"No. Aren't you angry with me? Aren't I going to be beheaded today?"
"Beheaded? If you are going to be beheaded today, who will become my Empress?"
"Empress? Me?" Feng Niao disbelievingly pointed to himself.
"Who else would it be if not you?"
"Qi... Qi LianLian." Feng Niao sadly looked down.
Seeing him this upset, Zu Tian held his hand and raised his face to make him look at him.
"Why do you say so?"
"Because... Because, you like her and..."
"And?"
"She's a woman." Feng Niao quietly said almost inaudible but Zu Tian still heard it.
Zu Tuian burst out laughing hearing what he said.
If he liked Qi LianLian then he must be the most stupid person on the face of the earth!
"What are you laughing?!" Feng Niao pouted.
"I'm sorry love but what you said was just so funny. How did you even think of that anyway?"
"I... I heard and saw you two!"
Zu Tian raised his eyebrows and looked at Feng Niao who was huffing like a ruffled kitten while telling him of that night when he left him for Qi LianLian.
He recalled that night a bit because he had caused mischief but he didn't expect Feng Niao to catch him red-handed.
Looking at his cutely huffing lover, Zu Tian could only sigh and calm him down.
"Nothing happened between me and Qi LianLian, believe me."
"But I heard!"
"You heard, but you did not see clearly enough. The one who was with Qi LianLian was my substitute. I promise, I never touched her." Zu Tian promised.
"Really?"
"Really. You believe me, right?"
"I believe you."
Feng Niao leaned on Zu Tian's chest in relief and happiness knowing that nothing happened between Qi LianLian and Zu Tian.
But then, his relief was replaced by anxiousness and fear when he remembered his betrayal.
"Zu Tian, I...."
"I know what you want to say."
Zu Tian caressed Feng Niao's hair to calm his anxious heart.
"I'm sorry."
"No need to be sorry. I know that the assassination was not your idea, it was Chen Mo, I know."
"If you knew, why did you..." Feng Niao looked at Zu Tian.
"It was necessary to bring Chen Mo and the rebels out. Besides, you did not make yourself clear and admitted you did it. How am I supposed to absolve you of your crimes if you admitted it yourself? Hm?"
Zu Tian playfully flick Feng Niao's nose and peck him on the lips.
"You believe me? You really believe me?"

"But, even though I was not involved in the assassination they are still my people. Are they alright?"
Zu Tian looked at Feng Niao before answering which made him nervous.
"Relax. They are fine. I did not kill them. Just a little, just a bit hurt, it was an act to deceive Chen Mo's spy into thinking that I really believe that they were sent by you to kill me."
Zu Tian smiled and pushed all the blame for the excruciating torture on the dead Chen Mo. Anyway, no one will know the truth.
Who told them to appear and destroy their relationship?!
They deserved to get tortured day and night!
Just thinking about those times he had to hold it in, to stop himself from comforting his little kitten, he really wanted to beat them up himself!
Just thinking about the bucket of tears his Feng Niao had shed, maybe he should have buried one or two of them, right?

Feng Niao beat Zu Tian's chest again making him stop his glib sophistry and start acting seriously.
"Man or not, you are going to be my Empress. No one can change my mind."
"But..."
"No buts! And besides, you are already wearing the Empress robes. No one can make you step down!"

Looking at himself, he was really wearing the Empress' robes and crown.
So that was why he was being blindfolded, this was Zu Tian's scheme all along!
