Chapter Fifty- Three . . . Unusual Shower

Cat's POV

"You're coming home late again?" I asked Gavin over the phone, this is literally the third day he has come home late from working in the office, and it was scaring me.

"I hear that fear in your voice Cat. I'm not going anywhere."

The baby kicked and I put my hand to my belly.

"I know that. I told you I trust you."

Gavin paused for a second before speaking again.

"I love you Catherine Daniels."

"I love you Gavino Free. Now get back to work."

He laughed before we said our good-byes.

Once the phone was hung up I sighed and sat on the couch just as Griffon came in looking, strangely, dressed up.

"What are you all dressed up for?" I asked.

She shrugged her shoulders.

"I have a hot date."

"Would he happened to have an evil mustache, and covered in sexy tattoos?" I asked realizing how strange it sounded that I said sexy when talking about my almost father.

"Maybe." She winked. "What's on your agenda?" She asked as she picked up her purse.

"Probably watching movies, and waiting for Gavin to get home."

She opened her mouth to say something, but was interrupted by the knock on the door.

"Come in!" She called.

I arched my eyebrow.

"You're not even going to ask who it is?"

Allie opened the door and came in also looking dressed up.

"Hello, hello, hello." She greeted and Griffon smiled at her.

"Hey Allie, what are you up to?"

Allie gave Griffon an almost knowing smirk, before shrugging her shoulders and turning back to me.

"Was wondering if the baby mamma wanted to go out and do some baby shopping?"

I shook my head and leaned even more into the couch.

"No, I don't think my swollen ankles can take walking around." I explained.

Allie looked at Griffon while biting her lip nervously.

"What's going on with you two?" I asked curious.

"Uh- I'm going to go meet Geoff." Griffon said quickly before walking out the door.

Once it slammed shut I fought to get off of the sofa until Allie came over and pulled me up.

"What's going on with you two?" I repeated.

"I have no idea what you are talking about . . ." She trailed off before starting again, "Are you hungry, because I'm starving. How about some Chinese?" She offered.

"Allison?" I called using her whole name.

She sighed and ran her fingers through her perfectly curled hair. "Can you just go put on something a little fancy?"

I crossed my arms that went on top of my belly. "Tell me what's going on and I will."

"Let's go upstairs and I'll explain." She said while taking my hand and gently but quickly pulling me up to my room.

Once we arrived she had me sit in my bed and went straight to my closet.

"So are you going to explain or just hide yourself in the closet?" I asked as I peaked at what she was doing.

"Lindsay is going to kill me." She whispered before turning out of my closet with one of my cute white maternity dresses.

She walked over and sat on the bed while thumbing the material of my dress.

"I won't tell her." I promised.

"Lindsay and I planned just a small baby shower for you."

I felt my eyes widened. The idea of a baby shower just wasn't even a thought in my brain after I told Lindsay no numerous times.

"Damnit!" I sighed as I laid back on my bed with my arms thrown above my head.

"What's the big deal with having a baby shower?" Allie asked.

I looked at her and saw that I hurt her by my swearing.

"It's nothing." I lied as I sat back up with a struggle. "So how many people are going to come to this thing?" I asked as I fully stood up.

"Um . ... just a few." Allie said almost unsure.

I nodded and walked to the closet where I quickly changed.

When I stepped out Allie smiled at me.

"That looks great. I have such great taste." She said proudly.

I rolled my eyes playfully.

"Shut up and let's get going." I teased.

_______________________________________________________________________

The ride to my baby shower was fun and exciting to say the least. The more time Allie and I spent together, the more I realized I really liked her.

"And we're here!" She said as she parked the car.

I was about to get out when she stopped me.

"What's up?" I asked.

"You know this whole baby shower thing is supposed to be a surprise." She said uneasily.

I sighed before smiling at her.

"I guess I'll have to put on my acting shoes."

We got out of the car and headed towards the surprise party which happened to be at the Rooster Teeth office.

We walked inside and I noticed how dark it was in the building. It gave me chills.

"Allie, where are we going?" I asked.

She smiled at me and only pushed us forward until we reached the Podcast area where it was even darker than before.

"Uh? Allie?" I called.

The lights turned on and everyone jumped out and yelled 'Surprise', and when I meant everyone I did mean everyone in the Rooster Teeth office.

"You guys know it's not my birthday?" I joked.

Everyone chuckled before Lindsay came busting out of the crowd and hugged me.

"It's your baby shower!" She exclaimed.

"Baby shower?" I asked.

She nodded.

"I know you said you didn't want one, but I couldn't let you go without one."

I rubbed my belly a bit.

"You didn't have to make it a surprise you know?" I chuckled. "You know I'm close to my due date. You could of broke my water."

She bit her lip nervously.

"I guess I didn't think about that, but hey you didn't!" She joked. "Why don't you go and greet people. I know people want to see you." She winked.

I quickly thanked her and walked through the crowd that was waiting for me with beers in their hands. Everyone congratulated me and told me how happy they were. Some even hit on me and made sure that I only wanted a baby from Gavin, thanks Joel.

I felt the heat got through my body and my ankles began to hurt.

"You know, you are the most stunning woman I have ever seen." The statement sent chills down my spine, and when I turned I saw the only man that made my heart beat quickly.

"So this is why you've been staying late?" I asked as he wrapped his arms around me.

"No, actually the first night I did have to work, but the others were late shopping nights with Allie." He smiled and kissed my lips. "Do you like it?" He asked.

"I do. Especially the part where Joel hit on me."

He rolled his eyes showing that he wasn't made, but more annoyed.

"It wouldn't be a party unless Joel hit on my pregnant girlfriend."

"I better be your only pregnant girlfriend." I teased.

He stopped and thought about it.

"I think so. Except there was that Becky girl -" I smacked his chest.

"You're an ass."

"Yeah, but you love me."

"I do."

We were about to kiss again until Joel's annoying voice carried across the room.

"Hey Gavin, how about giving the girl a break!"

I watched as Gavin let out a deep breath.

"What an arsehole."

"It's Joel."

Suddenly the heat became almost unbearable.

"How about you go get a drink, and I'm going to go get some air."

Gavin's annoyed face contorted to concern.

"Are you alright, love?"

I nodded.

"It's just stuffy in here."

He kissed me on the cheek.

"Don't be long. Lindsay wants to play some games."

I nodded.

"Of course she does."

I kissed Gavin on the cheek on last time before walking out and getting some air.

It was like I was reliving the past, as I remembered being out here my first day of work after meeting all of these people.

Where would I be without them?

I was shaken from my thoughts when the door squeaked opened.

"Hey what are you doing out here?" Geoff asked as he stumbled slightly with a red solo cup in his hand.

"Getting air, what about you?" I asked as I sat on a box.

"Griffon told me to come out here and I quote, 'sober up'." I chuckled lightly at his joke and instead of smiling he gave me a look of concern, just like Gavin. "You feeling okay?" He asked as he sat down across from me.

"Yeah, I guess."

"What's that suppose to mean?"

I adjusted myself and shrugged. "I'm just thinking you know."

"About?" He pushed.

I tapped my foot, "Did you know I had a sister?"

He paused before shaking his head.

"She won't speak to me. She thinks that I made up stories about my parents. She was always their favorites." I scratched the back of my neck. "I don't have any blood family. What if Raya wants to know about my parents? Or how I was raised?" I sighed. "I just wish things were different."

I wiped the tears that I didn't even notice were falling.

Geoff stayed oddly silent and instead took a drink of his beer.

"I'm sorry Geoff."

"Don't be, but I have to tell you family isn't about the blood that runs through your veins, it's about the people that you surround yourself with and that love you."

"Yeah, but what if that isn't enough?" I asked.

Geoff side before standing up.

"Then we'll make it enough. We'll give that kid so much love that she won't even know what to do with herself."

"You promise?" I sniffled. God, these damn hormones.

Geoff ran a hand through his hair with his beer free hand. "I have a confession to make."

I paused and raised an eyebrow. "You do?"

"Griffon didn't send me out here. I came myself when I saw you out here."

"Okay . . .  Why?"

With Geoff's help I got to my feet where I saw him nervously chewing his lip.

"Why Geoff?" I asked again.

He put his hand in his pocket and pulled out a white box. "I came out here to give you this, so everyone didn't see and think I was a huge pussy."

He pushed the box to me, and I gently took it from his hand.

"Why would they think you were a huge pussy?" I asked as I began to unwrap the ribbon.

"Just unwrap it." He said before taking a drink.

I did as I was told and almost died at the beautiful jewelry held before me.

"Holy shit Geoff. I can't accept this."

He rolled his eyes playfully with a smile on his face.

"Shut up."

I touched the two small bracelets, one said mommy and the other said Raya. Each names were put in a small silver heart and hung from the same silver chain.

"I don't know if they'll fit, but you can change the chains." Geoff said uneasily.

"How do I thank you for this?" I asked.

"Well, you're giving me a beautiful grand daughter, I can't ask for anything more."

I quickly brought him in for a hug.

"Why do you insist on making me cry?"

The baby kicked in my belly between the two of us making Geoff chuckle.

"What an active little girl you got there." He noted.

"Yeah, she loves kicking the crap out of her mother when she's around people she loves."

Geoff suddenly got nervous. "Do you mind if I . . . you know?"

"Touch my belly?" I asked.

He nodded slowly.

"Yeah of course."

His hand lingered over my belly unsure of what to do.

"Here let me." I grabbed his hand and put it on a spot on my belly and Raya began kicking like crazy. "Look at that she loves her Pappy." I said.

Geoff remain quiet and I slightly feared for him.

"Geoff you okay?"

He blinked a couple of times before nodding.

"I just . . . um  . . . it's been awhile since I've felt a baby kick."

I smiled at him.

"Well you can touch my belly anytime." I winked. "Just don't tell Gavin."

"That's it I'm going inside."

As he said that the door opened to reveal a smiling, and clearly buzzed Lindsay.

"Hey, you want to cut your cake?" She asked.

"Yeah, sure."

She nodded. "Good, because everyone is hungry."

I chuckled and walked in with Lindsay and Geoff.

I went straight to the cake table and smiled at the baby cake that was made. The baby was hiding under a pink blanket and all that could be seen was it's smiling face.

"This is the cutest cake I've ever seen." I said out loud to Lindsay.

"Actually this was Gavin's idea. Where is the lad anyway?" She asked.

"Probably drinking."

"No, no, no I'm right here." Gavin stumbled over to us with two drinks in his hands, he handed one to me, and I stared down at it.

"What is it?" I asked.

"Coke."

I gave it a little sniff and it stung my nose.

"Are you sure?" I asked.

He looked in his cup and looked at mine. "Sorry love." He said as he traded cups with me.

"Nice going Gav." I teased.

He shrugged before taking a drink. "Sorry." He said with a pout.

"Anyway, I'm going to thank everyone for coming, and I think you shouldn't say anything, and instead just stand here and look pretty."

He thought about it for a minute.

"Yeah that sounds like a good idea." He agreed.

I turned to the crowd.

"If I can have everyone's attention please!" I yelled.

"HEY SHUT THE FUCK UP!" Michael yelled and everyone got quite.

"Thanks Michael." I sighed before starting again. "On behalf of Gavin, myself, and Raya, I want to say thank you for everything! You guys are amazing and I couldn't picture Raya's life without you in it. Which includes you too Joel."

The crowd laughed and Joel's face became red with embarrassment.

"Anyway, I want to also say that I consider each and everyone you a part of our little family." I paused and looked at Geoff who smiled proudly at me. "And just because we don't have the same blood it doesn't mean we aren't family. The fact that you guys are here for me the most and that you would do anything for us means you're family. I love everyone of your drunk asses." I held up my glass. "Cheers!"

Everyone yelled cheers and we began cutting the cake and handing it out to everyone.

I stopped Lindsay and Allie from their work of passing out their cakes and brought them into a group hug.

"Thank you both so much. I love you so much." I whispered to them.

"So I guess you changed your mind?" Lindsay asked with a chuckle.

"Yeah, I guess I did, and I'm so happy that you did this for me." I said honestly.

They both looked at each other and Allie touched my head.

"Are you the same Cat?" She asked and I nodded.

"I just found out who my real family is."

Allie and Lindsay looked at each other and then back to me.

"Well, since you can't drink. Have some cake to celebrate."

Allie gave me a piece of cake that I accepted greedily.

"Um can I have some too?" A deep voice asked and when we turned, Ryan stood there with his head down.

"Yeah, of course Ry." Allie said with a smile and handed him a cut piece.

"Thanks Allie."

Ryan took his piece and kissed her on the cheek. "I'll see you around guys."

"What the fuck was that?" Allie asked as Ryan left.

"That was Ryan showing affection." I noted before walking away from them with a grin on my face.

So I found out who Raya's true family was.

Too bad they were insane, but I couldn't picture calling anyone else her family.
