Hanabi's P.O.V

I had managed to gain back my composure and wipe away the blood from my nose and mouth. The obstreperous bustle had unwillingly broke part with a string of murmurs and hushed whispers.

"Hanabi!", my head turned into Kakashi's direction as he rushed to my side, "are you ok?", his voice was marked with concern and I managed to give him a simple nod.

"Shisui", the cop growled, catching our attention when he rose up from the ground and asserted, "this won't go unnoticed, how dare you defy the Police Force for a criminal like her?", he demanded, his eyes glistening with rage.

I look over at Shisui, my heart racing fast. Naruto treaded towards me, tears in his eyes.

"T-thank you", he muttered, the sight of my darkening bruise made his eyes full of tears. I crouched down to his level and wiped away his tears with my trembling fingers.

"No need", I smiled, even though my heart wouldn't stop jumping out of its place, I still maintained a decent character in front of him.

The shop keeper I beat up earlier had regained his posture again and barked at the police, "I want to file a case right now!". I disregard him completely as I ruffled Naruto's spikey hair. He really did resemble Minato.

I sigh and stand back up, darting my gaze to Kakashi, I requested, "Please, take care of Naruto..."

Naruto's eyes broadened in confusion as he demanded, "How do you know my name?".

Naruto, you weren't supposed to hear that..

I turned to him with a faint smile and answered, "Cause you're going to become Hokage someday aren't you? So how am I not supposed to know your name?", I smiled as I looked straight into Minato and Kushina's eyes. Naruto's eyes spark with glossy tears, which he quickly conceals by giving me a heads up and saying, "I won't let you down! You best believe it!".

Kakashi had hesitantly nodded at my request, his face suggested that he was worried about me.

I dart my gaze to Shisui, who had a frown resting on his face as he glared at his Police Force members. Or better yet, members of his own clan..

Shisui had remained calm, the Police Force were darting him accusing looks as they stared between us.

I guess Shisui just wanted to repay me...

"What do you think you're doing Shisui?!", the cop barked at him like a raging bull. I proceeded to calm down my racing heart and trembling limbs somehow. Shisui lowered his head and glared back, "Police brutality is unacceptable. Instead of inspecting the scene and trying to comprehend what had happened here like a true cop, you lash out at a girl without a second thought?", he asserted, his voice carrying a warning tone to it.

Shisui stop...

"What a shame", Shisui growled, balling his fists.

The oxygen supply seemed to be cut off from me when Shisui took a swift grip on my forearm and lucidly declared, "You're going to the police station for further investigation", he said it like a cop would, sending shivers down my spine.

The cop that punched me earlier seemed to have swallowed his pride at Shisui's gesture and went to capture the shop keeper.

Shisui gestured for me to walk before him as he pinned both of my blood stained hands behind my back.

"I'm sorry...", he whispered.

"It's fine", I assured.

According to the Police Force, I've committed a serious crime. Apparently, I have assaulted that shop keeper. Which is true and I wouldn't deny it. He deserved it anyway.

"I'm telling you that he raised a sword on a seven year old while people stood and watched!!", I slapped my handcuffed hands on the table, getting tired of explaining the situation over and over again.

"You beat up the shop keeper to the point where needed to be hospitalized ", the investigator asserted, his calm manner gave me creeps, "Hanabi Namikaze...", he opened the file in front of him.

"...You are already...Chunin...wow...who would've thought?", he raises his brows and resumes reading the file, "...disciple of the Fourth Hokage...both parents are deceased...occupation: shinobi".

He closed the file and slid it to the side on the table. He relaxed back in his chair and questioned, "You realize you used Taijutsu that's Anbu level on a Leaf citizen?".

I blankly stared elsewhere, not wanting to meet his gaze.

"According to this Leaf hospital report, you've hit all of his vital points...what do you have to say to that, Hanabi Namikaze?", he narrowed his eyes, inspecting my face carefully.

"...he deserved it..."

"He did?", he inquired, completely uninterested. He proceeded to lean on the table and inform, "you are facing charges here, Hanabi Namikaze. Your circumstance could've been different if you hadn't violently assaulted that man-".

"Then where on earth were you?!", I almost yell, feeling my insides burn, "isn't it your job to keep order in the village?! Where were you when that so called Leaf citizen was going to wound that kid just because he has the Nine-Tails! If you cops did your job correctly I wouldn't have to resort to this!".

My outburst had caught him by surprise as well as the other cops that stood in each corner of the room.

"..Nowhere", I say, a little more calm this time, "nowhere in sight...you were nowhere in sight".

I fall back in my seat and lower my head. All of this is too much. How can people be so cruel?

Not everyone who under goes something life threatening or traumatic can awaken the Sharingan. There must be something I don't know of...

How comes one's very village tries to turn against them? I only did what I knew was right. A tear trickled down my face when I remembered Minato and Kushina.

Did Minato lie to me?

At this moment I felt guilty of many things, many things that I couldn't admit. Shrieks began eluding me as I started crying involuntarily. I attempted to muffle most of my sniffles and shrieks as the investigator announced, "Put her in jail".

I didn't even flinch at what he'd said. The system has always been unfair, I just haven't realized how much. The door of the dark room opens, revealing Shisui. He was wearing his police uniform. I stood up as he walked towards me. He unlocked my handcuffs only to lock them behind my back once again.

"Move", he ordered, his voice was too formal, but I knew he had to put up this act.

Shisui waited till we were out of the sight of others before he shoved a scrap of paper in my palm. My eyes immediately broadened, I didn't look back at him but still enclosed my fingers around it pretty quickly to give him the cue that I comprehend.

Shisui took off the cuffs before he put me behind bars. Before he left he'd whispered, "Don't worry you won't stay here that long", and with that, he'd walked away. There was no one on guard duty currently, which gave me time to unfold the crumbled piece of paper.

I smoothed out the creases and took in the scribbled hand writing. It seemed like it was written in a haste.

Fugaku will be here in short,
Meet me there at 6:00 p.m.

~Shisui

(A/N:- This is the place they're meeting up at, I found it while watching a filler episode)

I pressed my back against the cold wall and slithered down, sighing in relief. I took that Fugaku will get me out of here. He's the leader after all isn't he?

For the time being I crumbled the scrap in my palm again and held on tight to it. I pulled my knees to my chest and buried my face there.

Sharingan.
How do I have a Sharingan?

As much as I hated it, I couldn't help, but realize that Minato had lied to me about my parents...

Just why?!

Exactly about another hour and a half I heard the lock unlocking. It had took me a moment to realize that it was my cell that was being opened.

Fugaku...

"You remind me of him"

"Who?"

"Your father"

"Hanabi Namikaze, you're free to go", I heard the guard announce. I slowly raise my head and force my eyes open.

There, at the step of my cell stood Fugaku Uchiha. If it weren't for the other guards who stood there I would've lunged forward and demanded from him answers.

Instead, I lower my head and slowly tread.

"Thank you", was the best I could manage at the moment. Fugaku had nodded and replied, "Shisui filled me in on what happened. It seems like there was a misunderstanding".

"Yeah", I cut him off and force my legs to walk me out of this place as hastily as possible.

6:14 p.m.

The weather was cold as usual and my current fit wasn't suitable at all. I cross the bridge with slow, but steady steps. At the end of the bridge was a gazebo which was surrounded by the water of the lake. I looked ahead and eventually Shisui's figure came into view, but Itachi was nowhere in sight.

The white butterflies accompanied me as well.

I finally reached the lit up gazebo and my tongue was knotted.

"You're here", Shisui said in relief, hopping off the edge to greet me.

"Where is Itachi?", I inquired, my eyes feeling heavy.

"Anbu duties", Shisui replied and leaned against one of the wooden pillars. I gaze into my reflection in the water.

I don't seem like myself.

There was this awkward silence between us before Shisui broke it, "tell me a little about yourself until Itachi shows up.."

We weren't even facing each other. I was staring at the bland water of the lake and he stood against the wooden pillar. We both stood back to back while we talked.

"..thank you for today, Shisui", I covered my cheek when the cold wind made it stink with pain.

"No need for that Hanabi, we're a team remember?", Shisui assured.

I smiled to myself a little and replied, "Right".

There was another round of the same silence before he broke it again.

"I'm guessing your mind is currently carried away to your memories with Minato Namikaze"

"Yeah", I scoffed, the tears building up in my eyes.

He tilted his head to the side and inquired, "What was it like?".

His question took me by surprise, but I still managed to talk.

"To be honest I don't even know anymore", I answered truthfully, throwing away the crumbled piece of paper.

"How come?"

I scoffed humorlessly and turn to look him directly in the eyes.

"I took them for granted do know that?", I was smiling, but there was no hint of joy in it, "I took Minato and Kushina for granted and I'll never forgive myself for that".

"How?", he asked, a crease forming between his brows.

I give off another humorless scoff and answer, "Even though Minato and Kushina managed to fill the void in my heart, I still had that nagging voice inside of me, yearing for my real parents...", I choke on my own voice before I could continue telling this sad tale, " I loved them both so much, but as much as I hate to admit it...they could never fill in that one empty space in my heart that desired some sort of closure. Even though they treated me like their own I couldn't stop yearning for my biological parents deep down".

"And now they're dead", my shoulders start trembling a bit and I lowered my head.

The wind had whistled around us and I felt Shisui's eyes on me attentively.

"In all integrity...", I start again, fidgeting with my hands, "I'm ready to get anyone hospitalized if they mistreat Naruto.."

I had stopped for a moment, waiting for him to make any kind of remark. The wind had blowed all my bangs in my face as I heard Shisui finally ask.

"I feel like there's another reason..", he begins, and I feel his eyes burning in me, "there's another reason that you're so protective of Naruto, and I'm sure it's not because of Minato and Kushina's sake".

"And if so, what is it?".

I tuck a fallen strand of my hair behind my ear, my heart sinks as I say the following...

"How could I ever look that child in the face?", I bit down my lip and I can sense how Shisui had tensed at my tone of voice.

"How can I possibly look him in the eye and tell him that I got to live four years with his parents. That I laughed and cried with them. That I have memories with them. While his time was very limited... At least I had Minato and Kushina to fill that void in my heart, but what about him? Who will fill the void in his heart? On top of all that...I couldn't help but think that I could've ended up like him if Minato and Kushina didn't take me in..."

I began crying and I hated it.

I could sense Shisui was at a loss for words. So he did the only thing he thought would console me at the moment. He placed his hand on the back of mine and assured, "You cannot blame yourself for what your heart has desired, Hanabi, the heart wants what it wants.."

I feel the presence of the mutual butterflies around us as a small butterfly wipes away my tear with its petite white wing.

Shisui hesitantly uses his other hand to delicately raise up my chin and have me face him, "Pain...", he starts off, his touch delicate and warm, "is a mutual feeling...", his eyes drop slightly and he tucks a strand of my hair behind my ear, "if you don't change it...", he wiped away the tear that threatened to trickle down, before lowering his head further and whispering, "...it will change you..."

My head falls at his statement, I no longer feel his warm touch as I took a few steps back. He fell silent, in total anticipation of my next move.

I swallow a lump in my throat as I feel my breath heave even more. When I finally breath in and out normally again, I give one more humorless scoff and address, "I'm afraid it already has".

When I chinned up to face him, Shisui seemed like someone had just pierced him with a string of sharp kunais. All because I had flashed him the crimson hue of my Sharingan.
