Pippa didn't speak to Lin for the rest of the week. When he went to talk to her she'd put in earbuds and tune him out. When he tried to kiss her she'd shove her hand in his face and pretend he wasn't there. Lin was miserable. He didn't know how to make it up to her, or what to do to make it better. The show was heinous to perform while they were fighting. Sure Pippa was an incredible actor who easily convinced the audience that they were head over heels in love, but Lin knew it was phoney. The spark in her eye that usually lingered when they looked at one another was missing, and when they had to kiss on stage, it felt forced and uncomfortable, like kissing your grandmother. Lin couldn't tell if Pippa was more upset with him or devastated.
She was both. Pippa hated being upset with Lin, but she didn't know what else to do. He still refused to admit he committed an act of adultery when given the chance to apologize, and although she missed spending time with him, she was baffled and didn't know how to fix things. She stood on the side of the stage every day watching Lin and Jasmine perform Say No to This, and although she knew it was only acting, as it always had been without issues, it had a new meaning to her now. Seeing Lin kissing and doing things with another women made steam come out of her ears. She started to wonder if Lin enjoyed doing that with Jazzy every night. She couldn't help but question everything she'd ever known about him. She wanted him, but at the same time, she didn't.
Every night, her character went through the same thing she did. She was cheated on, and was angry at him. Except in the end, she forgave him, and they could be happy together again, because their experiences were more important than their mistakes. It was Friday, and at the end of the show, Lin and Pippa exited the stage holding hands.
"I think I'm ready to talk." She whispered softly. Lin never knew that six words could make him so elated. He contained his joy as she pulled him into the other room. "Can you meet me for breakfast tomorrow? I don't have time to do this right now." He nodded.
"Of course, it's a date." Realizing what he'd just said, he tried to fix it. "Uh, I mean, it's not a date." "I mean, I'm not sure if we're dating anymore, but it's a... I uh.. I'll see you there." He left before he could embarrass himself further. Pippa couldn't help but smile. Although she was furious at the man, she couldn't help but laugh. His goofy, awkward antics always warmed her heart and made her day. And although he had made a mistake, she was willing to talk it out.
