Another man appeared in the doorway, of Tucker's General Store.
"Dr. Rose?" Harriette exclaimed, recognizing the man.
"Please help us."
Nick Rose hurried around the counter, quickly kneeling near Henry. He lay a defibrillator and a medical bag on the floor near Henry.
"What happened?"
Harriette quickly explained the situation.
"Dere bes a ambulance on da way," Harry informed Nick.
Nick quickly loosened the collar of Henry's shirt.
"Now Henry, can you hear me?"
Henry nodded.
"Are you having any discomfort? Chest pains?"
Again Henry nodded.
"Okay."
Nick opened his kit and took out a bottle of pills.
"I am going to give you one of these. It is a nitroglycerin pill. I want you to open your mouth, put it under your tongue and let it dissolve."
Henry took the pill from Nick and put it under his tongue.
"Now just let that dissolve."
Nick looked at Mabel. "Can you get him a blanket?"
Mable jumped up and left.
"'ow did yuse knows 'enry were in trouble," Harry asked Nick.
"Nanny Dove."
Nick laughed slightly.
"I nearly went off the road. She appeared in my front seat just a minute or so after I left the highway.
I was on my way here anyway."
Mable returned with the blanket and covered Henry.
"Keep him comfortable and once the pill is dissolved, you can give him a bit of water or juice, if he wants some."
"Thank you Doctor Rose."
Nick quickly took Henry's vitals.
"His heart rate seems to be pretty much back to normal. His colour is returning. It was probably just a minor attack or even angina."
"Ise feelin' a lot better, Dr. Rose. Tanks youse."
"Still. I want to take you to Corner Brook just to be sure. I have an appointment with the Chief of Staff there tomorrow anyway. Just have to do it a day earlier."
Nick stood up and looked at Harry and Harriette.
"I think he will be fine. I just definitely keep him overnight at the hospital and run some tests on him. We'll see how he is when tomorrow comes."
He patted Harry on the shoulder.
"Better safe than sorry."
He looked down at Henry.
"Are you okay with that Henry?"
"Yes Doctor," Henry whispered.
"Thank youse."
"You just sit there. Has the pain subsided?"
Henry nodded.
"Good."
Nick walked around the counter and looked at the two men sitting on the floor.
"What is this?"
John Dove walked to Nick's side.
"Best Ise can figures is dat dese fellas bes wit dat Hirst guy dat was 'ere before, tryin' to get us all to sell da Bay to 'e."
Ron and Kenny Johnstone walked into the store.
"'eard wese 'as some trouble 'ere," Ron said, as he walked toward the two men.
"Who bes dese assholes?"
He looked over the counter.
"Is 'enry okay?"
"Just a mild heart attack, I think," Nick informed him.
"Dese two bes the cause of it?"
"Dat big one dere slapped Uncle 'enry," Harriette informed Ron.
Ron shook his head.
"'arry, Ise tinks wes needs a couple anchors fer dese two fellas."
"No anchors dis time, Ronnie. Ise called da cops in Deer Lake and told dem whats bes 'appenin' 'ere. Dey says dey will be 'ere quick as dey can.
Ise gots Freddy watchin' da road fer dey, so wese can git all da guns puts away before dey gits 'ere."
Ron nodded.
"Okay."
He kicked the man closest to him.
"Youse bes lucky dat wese civilized peoples 'ere."
Ron laughed.
"At least dis time."
~~~
The bigger man made a quick step toward Matty.
Suddenly, Nanny Dove appeared in front of him.
"You stays away from my grand-daughter."
The man screamed slightly and stumbled backwards, falling hard to the floor.
The smaller man turned and looked at him, slowly getting to a sitting position.
"What is wrong with you?"
"She was there," he stammered, pointing in front of him.
"She was right there."
"Who?"
The smaller man looked around.
"There is no one here."
The bigger man got to his feet.
"She appeared right in front of me."
"Who?"
"This old lady."
A picture on a shelf near him caught his attention. He pointed at it.
"It was her."
Matty laughed.
"My grandmother?
Nanny Dove has been dead for years."
"Get your shit together man."
"I tell you, I saw here."
Nanny Dove appeared near the rocking chair. She flipped her finger at the bigger man.
"There she is," the man half screamed.
The smaller man turned. All he could see was Matty, sitting in the rocking chair.
"Where?"
"Right there. She is flipping me off."
The smaller man stared at his partner.
"Did you take something man?"
"I don't do fucking drugs. I tell you I saw her."
His eyes suddenly opened wide and he screamed again.
"She's right behind you."
The smaller man jumped, dropping the bottle of scotch to the floor.
He turned quickly. There was nothing there.
"Dude. You are losing it."
"Would you mind picking up that bottle of scotch?" Matty asked.
"It is rather expensive and I don't want you two apes to break it."
The bigger man pointed at Matty.
"You saw her. I know you did."
Matty looked up, as Nanny Dove appeared next to the rocking chair again.
She smiled broadly and then looked back at the man.
"I have no idea what you are talking about."
She got up and Nanny Dove sat in the rocking chair.
"You just got up, so she could sit down."
Matty shook her head and bent down to pick up the bottle of scotch.
"This is a hundred dollar bottle of scotch. I just don't want it to break."
Nanny Dove laughed.
"Its jest mite stain da floor."
The big man's faced turned pale.
"You had to hear that."
The smaller man took out his cellphone.
"You are losing it, man."
"She's right fucking there," the bigger man screamed.
"She's sitting in the fucking rocking chair, laughing at me."
The smaller man turned his attention back to his cellphone.
"Yea. We got a situation here. Eddie is fucking losing his mind. He keeps saying he is seeing an old lady here."
The man shook his head.
"No. There is no one here but the three of us."
He nodded.
"Just make it quick. He is staring to freak me out."
~~~
Hirst ended the call and put his cellphone on the table.
"Trouble in paradise."
Bill tossed the torn documents at Hirst. The bits of paper flew all over the floor.
"Youse best be cleanin' dat mess up," Lindsay yelled from the bar.
"Ise not doin' it."
Bill laughed and turned his attention back to Hirst.
"See the reason they have no police here is that they don't need them."
Simon laughed.
"Everyone needs protection. It is a cruel world out there."
He turned to the man behind him.
"Go to the car and get my briefcase."
The man nodded and left.
"He was safer in here," Bill informed Simon.
"What are you fucking babbling about?"
"See the reason there are no police here is because we have the best security force in the world, right here, in little old Tuckamore Bay.
There is nothing that happens in this Bay that doesn't fly through this town like a super sonic jet."
Bill looked at Lindsay.
"Isn't that right, Linny?"
"Youse rite, Bill.
But Ise still not cleanin' up dat mess of paper."
Bill took out his cellphone and opened it to messages.
He pushed the cellphone to Hirst.
"What am I suppose to be seeing?"
"That is a village wide group text. You and your little band of merry men were spotted the second you came into the Bay."
"Bill?"
Bill looked toward the bar.
"Someting 'appened at da general store. 'enry had a 'eart attack."
Bill jumped to his feet, grabbing his cellphone.
He quickly glanced through the texts.
"Nick is there with him and they have an ambulance on the way."
Bill put his cellphone in his pocket.
"Watch this asshole will you?"
"Just where do you think you are going?"
Bill patted Simon on the shoulder.
"Look around Hirst. You are all alone."
Lindsay walked around the bar, carrying a small rifle. Seconds later she was joined by her husband, Carl and brother in law Ryan, who both came out from the kitchen area..
"Ise says we fillet dis one," Lindsay suggested.
Bill laughed.
"No filleting, but he does have a mess he can clean up."
Lindsay pointed her .22 calibre rifle at Simon.
"Ise tinks youse best be pickin' up all dat mess, me son."
"I'm not cleaning this up."
Lindsay shook her head, pulling back the hammer on the rifle.
"Dis mite bes a small rifle, but Ise got six rounds in 'ere dat will put six little holes in youse."
"I'd does what Linny says," Carl advised Simon.
"She 'as a real itchy trigger finger."
Simon looked toward the front door.
"Dere bes no one comin' to rescue youse," Ryan informed Simon.
"So, iffy Ise were youse, I'd bes gettin' on me knees."
Simon got off his chair and started picking up the torn documents, putting the pieces on the table.
As soon as Bill opened the front door of the Pub, he was met by Clayton Rideout and his sons, Billy and Wike.
Simon's two bodyguards were sitting on the parking lot, leaning against the SUV. Both were securely bound and gagged.
Michael Simpson joined the group.
"I hears dat Matty is 'aving some issues at yer 'ouse, Bill."
He slammed his fist into his palm.
"Best wes go and fix dat."
Bill looked up at the 6' 7" bearded man and patted his arm.
"I am so glad that you are on our side, Michael."
Clayton looked at his cellphone.
"Best 'urry, Bill. Freddy says dere bes tree cop cars on da way in da Bay."
He looked at Wike, as he passed his rifle to him.
"Take our guns and put dey away. Text da others and tell dey to put dem away too."
Bill started toward his house.
"Come on, Michael. Lets finish this thing before the cops get here."
The two men hurried off, joined by Ryan.
