NASRIN
The call of the Adhan woke me up from my world of sleep .it was time for Zuhr so I lazily woke up to the washroom ,I performed ablution and prayed before laying back on the salaya .I picked my phone from the edge of the bed removing it from airplane mood in the process .My prom was going to be held today and I wasn't going,all thanks to Ahmad .
I stared at the ceiling for a while thinking back to the day I returned my dress and luckily got a refund. my messages buzzed in ,and it was the same set of notification from the same people,my hommies!.they have been trying to make me beg Ahmad since I told them I wasn't going .but they won't understand the situation I was in .left to me if I actually wanted to go I would ,since my marriage with Ahmad wasn't a serious one but then a part of me felt I should obey what he said .
My mind went back to the day it happened.
I was in the living room going through my Instagram to see which make up artist I could contact to do my make up when a call from an unknown number interrupted , I wondered who it was , I finally decided to solve my curiosity I picked up.
"Hello" I heard a masculine voice
"Hello nasrin" I instantly recognized it as Amir's voice
"Ohhh Heyy Amir"ya kk "I asked feeling a little bit akward .
Lafiya lau ,aiii you forgot about me "he said .
I laughed a bit before answering him "no wlh it's not like that ,I have been a little bit busy neh tbh ".
"Oh toh sannu busy madame"he said with a chuckle.
We kept talking about random things before he said he heared our prom is in a week .
He asked who my prom date was .
"Yo you know I can be at your service pretty lady "he said when I told him no one .
"So emis students will be looking forward to see their long time sinior yeah ?"I asked jokingly.
"Yeah especially now that he will have a princess walking by his side "he said with an almost serious voice .
No I'm not a princess but a queen "I replied with a sassy voice while chuckling.
We kept talking about old times for almost about an hour ,like I said Amir was really fun .I almost forgot about my boring life .
"Will you be free this evening?"he asked bringing me out of my thought .
"No to be honest I won't be freee because I have got some work to do "I said clearly making an excuse.
"Okay amaa call you later in the night then !,take care princess "he said before ending the call.
I felt really happy because atleast I won't be left out .

That night he called again but it was really really akward ,Ahmad was sitted In the dinning room making some paper works while I was in the sitting room watching a movie.i didn't want to pick at first because of Ahmad but later gave in because I somehow wanted to revenge .
I picked and his hoarse voice bleared in my ears .
Princess!"he called .
No I'm a queen ,i told you I said chuckling.
Okay I'm coming "he said and ended the call,I looked towards Ahmad and my eyes met his .all this while he was staring at me yo !
Amir's call came in again and for a reason I smiled a mischievous one .
Hello my queen !"Amir said once again.
Now you're talking and I'm already blushing really hard "I said laughing .
You know a queen needs to be happy always "he said while laughing too .
Do you still have that habit of laughing with tears "he asked.
Bruh so you can still remember me this well ,I even feel over the years I tend to do it even when smiling "I told him sincerely .
I turned to Ahmad ,he held an almost angry face ,wlh I couldn't help but laugh hard .
What's making my queen laugh this hard"Amir asked while my attention was still on Ahmad ,he looked up and our eyes met .
Your queen saw something really funny "I said and Ahmad eyes dwelled with more anger as he looked down to what he was doing .
Ohh I see ,so what color of gown did you get for prom "he asked .
A maroon but I actually wanted to go for red "I said .
Yeah I bet Maroon still look good on queens "he said with a lower voice .
So what you want me to wear "he asked again .
I felt Ahmad's eyes on me even though I wasn't looking at him .
Kings look good on everything,I said with a bit of seriousness.
Ohh so tattered cloths will look good on me yeah ?
You said it ! Not me "I replied laughing hard .
We talked about prom for a while before calling it a night ,I turned to see Ahmad still working on whatever he was doing.i noticed how his body became tensed and he was lowkey fuming .
Well should I say mission accomplished!ouu .
I stood up to leave for my room ,when Ahmad started talking.
You won't go for no prom nasrin !"his thunderous voice clouded the room .
I actually pretended he wasn't talking to me ,since I kinda expected him to say this after my little show ,I kept walking to the stairs.
"You heard me and it's a command "he said with fury on his voice.
"And why ?if I may ask you. "I decided to speak .
"You should ask yourself why ,since you still haven't acknowledged that you're a married woman ".
"What does my marriage life have to do with my school prom "I asked a bit interested since I already know he was jealous about Amir .
"What do you think people will say when you're seen going to prom with a non Muharram when you're already married,I'm not ready to start answering questions so I have said what I have to say "he said before picking his stuffs from the dining table .
"Ohh so you don't want to answer silly questions about what people think about me but all you ever do is go out with your slut without caring about the consequences even though you're married."
"She isn't a slut ,you should watch what you say nasrin "
Awwwn look at him getting defensive,It's interesting I must say ,to see you concerned about yourself but forgetting I'm in this too ,the pain you cause me Ahmad .I won't go to prom like you asked just because I consider you my husband and I'm meant to obey whatever you say and I myself know that if I was meant to follow the way you treat me ,we both won't be standing here today ."I said before finally climbing the stairs .
"So now I wasn't going to the prom I have dreamt of going since when I started junior school,just because of someone I call my husband"i stood up and folded the Prayer mat and dropped it on the side of the bed .the faint ring of the doorbell interrupting my organization session .I wasn't expecting someone today ,I haven't seen Ahmad since yesterday morning so I didn't know if he was at home .i hopped downstairs immediately to open the door .
I opened the door wide ,to see shinelxmakeover standing at the door with asma standing beside her ,they both held make up boxes ,my mouth was jaw dropped as I didn't know who to hug first among them ,I hugged shinelx before turning to Asma ,shinelx was a well known makeup artist in Abuja and she happens to be the only person who gets my face during my modeling days ,I started off as her client but later became a very good friend of her .
I urshered them in ,still wondering what they were doing here .
So nasrin you got married without telling me ,I'm really pained "shinelx said immediately they entered .
I smiled and said it wasn't so ,I smiled at her as she dropped her boxes and equipment in the sitting room .
Sis nasrin I'm hungry wlh ,I just hope you cooked ,ummah didn't allow me eat lunch because she said we needed to be here .
Why ,what's the occasion "I asked still curious.
Me I need to eat first before I say anything "Asma replied chuckling.
We went to the kitchen and I dished out the rice and stew with fried plantain chips I cooked for the three of us .I and Asma took the food to the dining along with shinelx's food .
So to what do I owe this august visit "I asked laughing clearly still surprised .
We aren't allowed to talk till we are done with what brought us "shinelx said chuckling.
"Heheeh so you miss my face this much ,har you have to come suprise me with a free make over "I said ,since it was the only thing that made sense in my head rn .
"Funny girl kawwai "shinelx said ignoring what I said .
We ate while talking about different things happening,they kept me company for two hours before we went upstairs to pray and start the make over .
She started her handwork on my face at exactly 5 in the evening ,while Asma went to the car to get something.
By the time she was done ,it was already 6 in the evening, I stood up to face my vanity mirror,mashallah was all I couldn't utter ,she gave me a complete nude look ,wlh I must say she's the best ! Make up makes me happy , I guess by now you'll should know .I turned to face her grinning from ear to ear , I hugged her before asking the outfit she wanted me to bring out so she can start taking pictures.
Asma opened the door while holding a garment bag from "deola sagoe ", she dropped it on my bed as she came forward to drag me .
Okay I don't know what I'm using this for "I
Asked still curious.
She dragged me to the bed and immediately unbuckled the dresss from the bag , as she took it up .A pink with floral lace sheath gown flew open ,it was handles and had a along strips of beads ,I looked at it with so much amazement as it was very beautiful ,she unleashed it completely on the bed and brought out the cape from the bag .
I wore the dress and I looked at the mirror,the person I was seeing on the mirror didn't look anything like me ,the dress filled my curves and I was looking like a Greek goddess people often called me ,the color fit my body perfectly.mehnn I didn't even look this beautiful on my wedding day .I kept looking at myself on the mirror,I didn't even notice Asma and shinelx enter the room again .
Okayyy can someone call 911 because someone is dripping fire "asma shouted .
On god this room is about catching fire too"shinelx added .
I couldn't help but chuckle really hard ,Asma hugged me tight and whispered my brother won't be able to resist you tonight trust me .
Okay your brother?,you never told me anything about tonight "I said even though a part of me felt I was being dressed for my prom .
Blaa don't act silly ,aren't we stealing the spotlight at EMIS 2019prom "shinelx said while lifting my cape from the bed,she bent down and clinched it around my dress.
But then I wasn't suppose To go "I said stating the fact .
You're going Nas Nas soo shush and watch "Asma said .
Okay I didn't understand a thing here , why was I suddenly dressed up for prom ,and Ahmad ? .
Did he know about this ?, I dicided to act cool with the idea even though I know it would be a problem if he found out .
Asma brought out a dech barrauci clutch hills, it was peach in color , it was beautiful!.
I wore it and must I say it complimented my dress , I looked really beautiful and I couldn't get enough of myself honestly.
Asma the dress and the shoe both look expensive,how did you both go about them "I turned to ask both of them "I decided to ask since I knew they both couldn't get something as expensive as this for my prom .
Well if I must say !,it's from someone really special"Asma replied smiling.
Asma's phone started ringing and she left the room immediately,shinelx repaired my curls and added a flower on my hair ,she brought out a mini purse from a bag and told me to fill it with my necessities,I picked my phone with a pack of orbit and a mini sweat wipe .i inserted everything and sat down .I wanted to call my friends and tell them I was coming but I decided to leave it as a suprise.
As for Amir ,I already told him I wasn't going to the prom since a day after Ahmad said I wasn't going.
Asma came back inside the room saying my ride was here .i don't know why I became nervous,shinelx held my cape till we got down the stairs and realeased it since it wasn't that long .To me I felt the dress was a little bit bridal but I didn't care at this point since I got to go for prom .
We went outside and I was immediately welcomed by the evening breeze ,it was already getting dark ,I held my purse tightly and walked to the supposed car waiting for me .
The driver walked and opened the back door for me ,as I turned to see Asma and shinelx standing at the front porch.Asma gave me a wink and a thumbs up while shinelx blew and imaginary kiss,I smiled at them ,really happy before placing my legs to enter the car .
A perceived a familiar cologne as I sat down .I felt someone's presence in the car so I immediately turned to my side .
Ahmad was sitting there , pressing his phone ,His smug expression was replaced with something I couldn't really call.
My body froze for a minute as I realized Ahmad was the one sitted here , in the same car with me and was going to prom with me .My prom date ! .
I looked at him again and this time he was facing me .our eyes met and we started a staring contest,His eyes were looking very bright ,for the first time I noticed how beautiful his eyes were ,even if he was always hard on the outside,you could see the softness in them ,I averted my eyes from him and he immediately did the same ,shifting a little.He looked really handsome in a off white turtleneck shirt covered with a black blazer ,I couldn't see him completely inside the car but he looked really good.
As we found our way to my school ,I kept myself busy thinking of why he changed his mind ,why he came with me and he even tried to make me look this beautiful.I kept feeling his constant stares on me but I acted cool with it .we didn't say a word to each other ,only the soft music coming from the car and I busied myself with the music .
We got to my school and my body became cold , I suddenly became dizzy because I was really nervous .The car stopped and Ahmad turned to look at me ,I felt weaker as I couldn't move an inch as I kept facing reality.
An arm snaked it's way around my waist startling me in the process making me flinch a little.
I looked down to see ahmads arms around me. A wave of electricity went down my spine , I felt a tingling sensation where he placed his arm. This is so foreign ,
We made our way into the hall slowly making faces turn looking flabbergasted.
