Author's pov......
It is Adi's and Divya's engagement today in their ancestral place. Currently they are all staying in Vijay's father's ancestral house.
Just before their engagement ceremony started, Adi brought Divya to a corner of the house where nobody was there and asked ''Divya, we've only known each other for a short while. Do you think we are rushing it?''
''Well, I did think that when you insisted on telling our families about us and even when they fixed our marriage so quickly but after thinking about this well, I think we are taking the correct decision. I know you are a very genuine and caring person who loves me a lot !! Well at least that's what I believe after dating you for the short period we have dated. Also we're only getting engaged now. We are going to marry only after a year. So technically, we aren't rushing. We've got time'' Divya said with a smile.
''You're so sweet Divya. You are the best thing that has ever happened to me!! I love you so much and cannot literally wait to spend the rest of my life with you. I'm sure that our marriage is going to be successful and happy. Along with your silly fights'' Adi said going near her.
''I know I'm sweet, but it's not me who starts the silly fights. It's you who always starts it'' Divya said, making a pout.
''Oh come on, It was a slip of tongue. We don't want to fight on our engagement day right you silly?'' Adi said, poking her cheek.
''It's not me who started, its you!!'' Divya said again, making a pout.
''Oh my god! I will take back all the cheesy things I said about you a few seconds back. You are not sweet. You're an annoying creature!!'' And Adi walked back to where everyone else was pretending to be angry. Adi loved making Divya angry, he found it funny and Loved it because she looks hot when she's angry.
''You're the annoying creature. Not me!!'' Divya shouted back and left.
Priya was already dressed when she noticed Divya walking past her. ''Divya!! Why aren't you dressed? It's nearly time for the ceremony. Come I'll help you get ready''.
Priya pulled Divya into her room and helped Divya drape a simple saree. ''Why is my sister's face is like it's gonna burst anytime soon?'' Priya asked, noticing Divya's expressions.
''Adi thinks I'm the one who always starts the fights!'' Divya said fuming.
''Omg, did you two fight on your engagement day? Divya you are nearly going to be 22 and going to get married soon. Be more mature for goodness sake. Stop fighting for silly things'' Priya said annoyed.
''You don't understand Priya. You are just like Adi'', Divya was like a tomato now due to anger.
Priya just sighed and then helped Divya with the makeup and hair. Finally when they were finished Priya said ''WOW you look amazing dear. I can't believe my little sister is going to get married soon. Time just fly by right?'' Priya hugged her sister.
''Thank you Priya! I know this is random but do you think Adi and I are rushing? I mean we are both still young, even Adi asked me this in the morning but I assured him that we are taking the correct decision'' Divya asked Priya hesitantly.
Priya looked at Divya and said ''Divya, I know how much you love each other. So don't worry, you aren't rushing anything. I've got married at the same age as you and the person I was getting married to was someone who I didn't know much about. But we worked everything out. At least you're marrying who you actually love. There's nothing better than marrying the person you love".
''I love you Priya. Glad I am marrying into the family you got married into. And because you're moving back to Chennai, I won't miss you at all!! I can visit you whenever I want'' Divya excitedly told her sister.
Priya smiled and hugged Divya and instructed her ''Wait here, I'll go and check if everything's ready downstairs''.
When Priya went downstairs, she noticed Vijay was doing something on his phone in the dining room. He was dressed in his traditional South Indian dress. Priya loved it when Vijay wore South Indian clothes. It suited him really well but Vijay wasn't really a huge fan of the traditional clothes.
Vijay noticed Priya coming up to him and he said ''wow, my wife is looking stunning today. This saree really suits you".
''Aww thanks Vijay. The traditional clothes suit you really well too. You should wear these more often'' Priya said while adjusting his shirt collar.
''I'll consider my wife's suggestion!'' Vijay said and moved closer to Priya to kiss her. ''Stop it! Stop it you'll ruin my make up. There are so many people around as well. I don't want to be embarrassed in front of them''. She pushed him and ran away from Vijay while blushing.
Vijay just sighed and continued with what he was doing on his phone.
Soon it was time for Divya and Adi to exchange rings. Priya and Rithu brought Divya to where the ceremony was taking place. Adi couldn't take his eyes off of Divya. He was so in love with her. When Divya finally settled next to Adi, he gently nudged Divya to get her attention and whispered to her ''My annoying creature is looking gorgeous today'' and smiled.
''Haha thank you and sorry for being childish in the morning. And you are looking handsome as well Adi'' Divya complimented Adi.
Soon the pandit said some prayers and asked Adi and Divya to exchange rings. With a lot of hope and expectations for the future, they exchanged rings.
Finally when the ceremony and the photo session finished all the members of the family and relatives settled and had food. Then the rest of the day was filled with music and dance.
Soon it was night time. After bidding bye to the rest of the family, Vijay went to join Priya in their room. She was standing in the balcony attached to the room watching the rain. Suddenly an idea crossed Vijay's mind to scare Priya. Slowly he walked to the balcony and made some creepy noise and She screamed very loudly. Quickly Vijay closed her mouth with his hand and said ''Keep quiet Priya. It's just me''.
Priya hit Vijay's chest lightly. "Is something wrong with you Vijay?'' Priya shouted at Vijay. "It's only for fun, wifey! Cheer up'' Vijay replied making Priya smile.
Priya : I think we should sleep now. It's already late.
Vijay : Nah I'm not sleepy...
After saying that Vijay stepped closer to her. Understanding what he was going to do, Priya said '' I'm on my period Vijay. You'd have to wait for a few days''.
''Oh dear, did you have sanitary napkins?'' Vijay asked her concerned.
''I forgot to bring it but Rithu anni had some spare, so I'm ok for now'' Priya replied.
''You could've told me Priya. I would've got you some. Telling your husband that you don't have sanitary napkins is nothing to be embarrassed about'' Vijay said sighing.
''It's nothing like that Vijay... Anni had some so I didn't think much about it''.
''Ah anyway, let's go to sleep now. Rohit Annan said we can go and explore the village tomorrow. But if you are not feeling well, we can just stay here''. Vijay said
''Nah I'm fine Vijay. We can go tomorrow. It's gonna be nice spending a day with everyone''.
Next Day
The next day they went out and enjoyed the beauty of the village.
As they were walking around Priya and Vijay went to walk around the paddy field. ''This place is so beautiful Vijay. I'd love to settle here when we are old. It's so peaceful''
''I know Priya, even though I was thinking the same. Come let's sit over there and take some pictures'' Vijay said, taking Priya to the field.
Soon after taking the pictures, they joined the rest of the family and made beautiful memories.
