season 4 episode 5 & 6

Wearing a bonnet with freckles drawn on her face, Holly wanted to kill Lexie for convincing her to wear a matching costume after Dr. Yang told them to wear one. Holly had a small suspicion it could be a trick, but with Lexie's convincing words, she put the small suspicion aside.

"His medication was due half an hour ago." The daughter of Holly's patient reprimanded, "I mean, the man is living in the hospital while he waits on a heart."

"Erin, honey." The patient called out, gesturing to his daughter's attire, "I'm thinking it's kinda hard for anyone to take you seriously in your mouse costume."

"See," Erin defended as she turned to face her father, "I work with five year olds, dad. My costume is appropriate," She gestured behind to Holly, "hers is not." She turned back to look at Holly, "Look, I'm--I'm just saying, if you have time for Halloween costumes, you probably have time to provide my father with basic care."

Holly opened her mouth to respond as George approached the two, "Hi," he extended a hand out to greet Erin, "I'm Dr. O'Malley. Hi. We'll take care of your father right away."

"Thank you." Erin nodded at George before giving Holly one last look.

"You should always make sure they have their meds before you do anything else." George advised Holly in a lowered voice as they walked up to the Nurse's station.

"Okay." She looked up at him, "Thank you."

He handed a chart to a nurse and turned to Holly, "I like your costume."

"Oh," Holly smiled, "thanks. Lexie convinced me after Dr. Yang said that we c--"

"Dr. Yang..." George whispered, "is screwing with you."

Holly groaned as she took off the bonnet and George laughed , "I knew it."

"The costume's cute." George defended, trying to make Holly feel better and grew oblivious to her rosy cheeks.

"I--I have to go warn Lexie." Holly chuckled, "Before she gets into a similar scenario."

Standing awkwardly next to George and Izzie as they waited for the ambulance, Lexie turned to them, "If you two need to talk, I could wait over there."

"Why?" Izzie asked, referring to the morning when Callie had outed George's affair with Izzie, "It's not like we have any secrets anymore."

"Hey." Holly greeted, jogging up to the group and looking at Lexie, "Everything okay here?"

"Why wouldn't everything be okay here?" Izzie defended before she scoffed, "Callie told everyone. Everyone."

"Yeah," George answered, "it's gonna be a long day."

Holly whispered to Lexie, "Guess everything's not okay."

Lexie nodded in agreement as the paramedics rolled out their patient from the ambulance, "Erin Shanley, 34," they presented, "massive head trauma when a brick came through her windshield. G.C.S. of 3 in the field."

"A brick came through her windshield?" Lexie questioned.

"Damn kids were screwing around on a bridge, halloween crap."

"I'm looking at brain matter here." Izzie sighed, unwrapping the bandages as she checked.

"I checked." The paramedic said as George and Holly looked at the patient, realizing it was Erin, "She's a donor."

"Oh, my God." Holly breathed.

"Oh, my God." George watched the paramedic roll Erin away before meeting eyes with Holly's.

Lexie and Izzie frowned their eyebrows at the two, "What?"

"Her father's on three." George told them, his worried eyes still on Holly's.

Holly continued, moving her head away to them, "He's waiting on a new heart."

"I don't understand." Erin's father told Dr. Webber, Holly, Izzie, Lexie, and George, "How did this happen? How could this happen?"

He sighed, wiping away his fallen tears as Izzie explained, "Injuries like this happen very quickly. She probably didn't feel any pain at all."

Dr. Webber spoke up, "M-Mr. Shanley."

Erin's father's head moved upwards towards the doctor, "Hmm?"

"According to Erin's driver's license... she was an organ donor. And as next of kin, if you agree to take her off of life support, you could direct the heart to yourself." Mr. Shanley wiped off his tears as he looked at Dr. Webber with an incredulous look, "She is young, she was healthy. She would be a perfect match for you, sir."

"Could you just please go away?" Mr. Stanley sighed in a low voice.

"Mr. Shanley," Dr. Webber tried once more, "if you would just--"

"Please," Mr. Stanley pleaded, "please go away. Please."

Dr. Webber sighed, "Dr. O'Malley will bring you to see your daughter if you like."

After Dr. Shepherd declared Erin braindead and George convinced Mr. Stanley to accept Erin's heart with a story about his father, and how George would donate his heart to him if he was still alive, they all went to surgery.

Watching Dr. Hahn perform the heart transplant, Lexie and Holly both thought back to George's heartwarming story and the gossip with Izzie and George.

"Is your marriage really over?" Holly asked, leaning over to whisper to George.

George looked at Holly before nodding and directing his attention to the surgery, "Yeah."

Holly held her eyes on the surgery in front of her before her eyes drifted to George, "I'm sorry."

George nodded again, "Thanks."

"Did Meredith really bring her mom's ashes to work?" Lexie questioned George, leaning towards him as well and Holly frowned her eyebrows.

"I--" Holly fumbled, "She did what?"

George looked at the two with a deadpan and nodded.

"Paddles." Dr. Hahn grabbed said instrument from a scrub nurse and placed it on Mr. Stanley's heart as the monitor emitted a continuous tone, "Let's see what we've got." After a brief pause from the charge, the monitor began to beep again, "There it is."

George looked down at Mr. Stanley, whispering, "There it is."

Placing her hair in a high ponytail, Holly ran out of the hospital to meet Dr. Torres for an incoming trauma patient.

"Okay," Dr. Torres sighed as she walked up to Meredith, Cristina, and Alex-- turning around slightly as she heard Holly's footsteps behind her, "what do we got?"

"Uh," Meredith listed, "two ambulances, multiple traumas."

"Any chance you need a resident's help, Dr. Torres?" Alex asked, leaning over to face her.

"I have an intern," Callie answered, "but as long as you want to smash bones into dust while people cry."

"Sweet." Alex smiled as Callie ran forward to an ambulance, with Holly following behind, "what do you got?"

"Chest pain," Cristina whispered as she wished, "tamponade, ruptured aorta?"

"Uh," Nicole, a paramedic responded as she gestured to the people behind her, "more like a clown car." She handed the chart to Dr. Torres, "Jackie Escott, 25 years old-- dislocated shoulder lac to her thigh, vital signs are stable." All the doctors frowned their eyebrows as they saw two women on a stretcher, both holding a wedding dress in the middle of the two, "And Helena Boyd, 26 years old-- also stable with obvious nasal fracture, facial lacs, and a chuck of missing scalp."

"She ripped out my hair." Helena groaned, holding gauze to her forehead.

"She ripped out my shoulder!" Jackie defended.

"You ripped out your own shoulder when you were trying to push me off the platform!"

"Who let go of the dress?" Jackie's fiancé asked, looking at the two for an answer, "Did anybody let go of the dress?"

"Hang in there, honey." Helena's fiancé comforted as Callie, Alex, and Holly tried to examine the two over the dress, "Don't let her psych you out, all right?"

"Okay," Callie frowned her eyebrows at Nicole, "what the hell's all this?"

"It's a store contest." A man from the ambulance replied, "I'm the judge."

Jackie's fiancé continued, "Last one to let go of the dress--"

"Wins the wedding of my dreams." Jackie finished.

"Of my dreams." Helena corrected.

"All right, enough." Callie looked at the two, "You two are injured, okay? You need to get your priorities straight and let go of the--" She tugged, trying to pull the dress away from the two before looking at Holly, "Dr. Kepner, a little help here."

"Sorry." Holly apologized before grabbing the dress as well and they both tugged.

"Let go--" Callie repeated, "Let go of the dress so we can treat you." A few more tugs after, Callie sighed, "All right, let go now. Now."

"Yeah." Jackie scoffed, "That's not gonna happen."

"All right." Callie stared at Jackie, "Fine. Let's move."

After rolling the two brides-to-be inside the hospital and into a trauma bed, Callie groaned as the two refused to let go of the dress again, "Okay," Callie pointed at the bloody dress, "do you see that you're bleeding all over the dress?"

"Yeah," Holly continued, raising an eyebrow at the two as she held up the dress for Alex to see under it, "you're not gonna be able to wear this anymore."

"It's not about the dress." Helena shook her head as Jackie continued to pull with the one good arm she had.

"I can't, uh, I can't--" Alex told Dr. Torres, "There's too much blood down here." He sighed, "Which one of your legs is bleeding?"

"I don't know." Jackie frowned at Helena as she held tighter, "I can't really feel anything anymore."

"I hear you have a broken nose down here." Dr. Sloan said as he approached the group, "What's with the dress?"

Jackie scoffed, "It's not about the dress."

"Can't they--" Callie looked at the judge, "Can't they just split the prize?"

"I offered." The judge spoke with no life in his voice, "I offered that fourteen hours ago."

"It is a one hundred thousand dollar wedding package," Jackie defended, "and I am not splitting it with anyone."

George, being Mark's intern for the day, sighed as he approached the two, "Oh, you're bleeding on your dress."

Everyone, excluding the doctors, practically screamed at him, "It's not about the dress!"

"Uh, uh," Callie spoke, "I'm gonna have to stabilize that shoulder somehow."

"I'll go grab a sling." Alex offered, looking at Holly as he passed her the piece of dress he held onto, "Try to check under there for injuries."

After Mark told Callie about his plan to 'torture' George since he was his intern, Callie's mood slightly brightened as she returned to the group.

"No way." Jackie shook her head at Callie's plan, "No frickin' way."

"It's the only solution if neither of you will let go of the dress." Callie defended as Holly placed Jackie's I.V. bag onto a stand.

"It's very simple." Mark explained, "Dr. Torres needs to treat Jackie's shoulder and leg, so, Jackie, you need a proxy."

Jackie frowned her eyebrows, "What?"

"Think about it, babe." Her fiancé leaned in to whisper to her, "This gives you an advantage. You get to rest your hand and come back refreshed." He leaned back to the group and nodded, "Give me the dress. I'll be the proxy."

"No way." Helena's fiancé shook his head, "Unh-unh. This isn't fair. You think this is fair?"

Mark breathed in, turning his head to the interns that stood in front of him on the other side of the bed, "Dr. O'Malley's the proxy."

All of their heads turned to George, Holly held in a chuckle as he blinked, "What?"

"He'll hold onto the dress." Mark explained.

"Hold the dress? You want me to... stand here and hold a dress?"

"No one ever said internship was easy." Mark shrugged before nodding his head to Holly, "Little Red can take over for you. Torres, you don't mind, do you--"

"No," Callie shook her head with a smile, "I don't mind at all."

Holly looked up at Dr. Sloan, "It's Hol--"

"Red." Mark nodded his head for Holly to stand next to him.

Holly scoffed, glancing at George before walking over to Mark and muttering, "I'm not that short."

George forcibly took off his gloves as he stared at Dr. Sloan before reaching a hand out to grab the dress. "Dude," Helena's fiancé spoke as he chuckled at George, "your job kinda sucks, huh?"

Holly helped Dr. Sloan and Callie remove Jackie from the shared gurney to another one and Jackie groaned in pain, "Oh! Hello? Watch the shoulder."

"Oh," Alex pointed at George as he returned with Lexie, "check it out. Bambi's a bridesmaid."

"You're right." Callie laughed as she patted Mark's arm, "This did cheer me up."

Holly switched the weight from one leg to another as she watched Dr. Sloan apply stitches to Helena's face.

Wanting to bother the interns, Dr. Sloan spoke, "You're crowding me, O'Malley." He looked at Holly, "Little Red needs a better look." George stepped back a little and Holly reluctantly stepped closer to Mark.

"Hey, hey," Helena's fiancé pointed out as George brought the hand that was holding the dress closer to his nose to scratch it once, "I think he just let go." Helena's fiancé smiled, "You just let go of the dress, didn't you?"

"No." George answered, his energy matching the judge's.

The judge tiredly sighed, "I wish to God he had."

"I swear," Jackie's fiancé threatened, "if you let go and lose this contest after my Jackie almost died to win it--"

"Dude," Helena's fiancé rolled his eyes, "a busted shoulder does not mean she almost died. Okay?"

"Whatever." He glared at George, "I'm watching you."

George nodded slowly as Helena sighed, "I know you all think this is stupid. If I were you, I would think this is really stupid."

"Well," Dr. Sloan spoke up, "I've never been married myself, neither has Little Red over here, so we're not one to judge. But George here knows all about what it takes. Don't you, O'Malley?"

Holly turned her face to George and cringed as Helena perked up, "You're married? For how long?"

"Not very long." George answered.

"Newlyweds? Congratulations."

George squinted at her and tightened his smile, "Thanks."

"Dr. Sloan," Holly voiced as she walked down the catwalk with Dr. Sloan and Dr. Shepherd, "where are we going?"

"Wherever the wind takes us." He sarcastically answered as he was met with Holly's tightened smile before he faced forward, "Dr. Hahn." He greeted, "I heard a crazy rumor about you."

"That I'm performing open-heart surgery on a man who's wide awake?" She asked.

"That's the rumor." Mark nodded.

"That's the truth." Dr. Hahn corrected.

"Well," Derek shrugged, "I perform awake brain surgery all the time."

Dr. Hahn, Mark, and Holly all glanced at Derek as they spoke in unison, "Not the same thing."

"Oh."

"Little Red, this question goes for you, too." Mark inhaled as he looked at the two, "You ever heard of a gentlemen's evening?"

Holly frowned her eyebrows, "Nope."

Dr. Hahn glanced at Mark and Derek as she folded her arms in front of her, "I'm sorry?"

"The Chief is hosting a gentlemen's evening." Derek answered.

"We're pretty sure it doesn't involve porn," Mark replied, facing the two women, "but, you know, we want to be sure."

"Mm." Derek hummed, "Right."

Dr. Hahn glanced between the two before smiling, "Are you two a couple?"

Derek, Mark, and Holly laughed as Mark shook his head, "That's--"

Derek and Mark's laughter faded as Holly's remained at the same loud volume and the men responded in unison, "No."

Dr. Hahn tilted her head before walking away, "Just checking."

The two men looked at each other as Holly's laughter faded away and she glanced up at Mark, "Thank you, Dr. Sloan, for making me tag along."

Mark squinted at the intern before pointing to the end of the catwalk, "Make yourself busy, Red. Go check on my patients."

Holly suppressed more laughter as she nodded and walked away, and Derek and Mark stared at each other again, Derek asking, "Why would she ask that?"

Mark shrugged, "I don't know. I'm--I'm worried about this gentlemen's thing."

After a day of taking care of Mark Sloan's patients, Holly adjusted her bag on her shoulder as she approached Lexie-- watching Alex Karev walking away from Lexie and realized she had tried to ask him out, like she said in lunch. Unaware to Holly's knowledge, Alex had admitted to Lexie that the only thing Lexie would get from him tonight was sex-- and that it was never enough for girls like her.

"Hey..." Holly greeted softly, "I guess it didn't go well?"

Lexie's eyes remained on Alex's retreating figure as she replied, "Nope." Lexie shrugged, a smile appearing on her face as she glanced at Holly before she ran forward to catch up to Alex.

Holly chuckled, speaking to herself, "Well, then." She walked to her car, unlocking the door as she stepped outside and sat in the driver's seat. Glancing to the exit of the hospital as she saw George and Izzie leaving the hospital together and Holly breathed out as she leaned back on her seat.
