Betty POV:
Sweet Pea and I had woken up about an hour ago and gotten ready for school.
We've been dating for a year now yet no one knows about us, besides my best friend Jughead.
Betty: when will we tell people about us? I asked him.
I'm the Serpent queen and Sweet Pea is a North Sider.
Sweet Pea: I don't know, you know that it's complicated. He said as he fixed up his hair.
Betty: it's been a year and the only person who knows we're together is Jughead. I want to tell people about us. I said.
Sweet Pea: if my parents find out they'll kick me out. He said.
Betty: so you just want to keep lying to them? I said.
Sweet Pea: of course I don't. But you don't understand what it's like on the North Side. We have to be one way, and dating a Serpent, especially the Queen is not that. He said and I rolled my eyes.
Betty: don't act like I'm forcing you to be with me Sweet Pea. I said sternly.
Sweet Pea: that's not what I'm saying. All I'm trying to say is that telling my parents, it's not going to go down well. He said
Betty: Sweet Pea do whatever you want. Don't you need to leave anyway? I asked.
Sweet Pea: I'll call you later. He said with a sigh as he kissed my cheek.
He walked out of my room and I let out a groan.
I get that it's hard for him to tell his parents, or his friends about me. But it's been a year now.
I feel like I only get to know one side to him and I want more. I want to know everything about him. I want to know what he likes doing with his friends, how he acts with his parents.
I want to be apart of his world and he won't let me.
We've never even been on a date. We always spend our time at my house and I'm over it.
I walked out of my room and into the kitchen.
Jughead: everything okay? He asked me.
I sat down next to him where he had placed my breakfast.
Jughead's dad, Fp, use to abuse him. As soon as I found out, I told him that he was living with me from now on.
I also let Tall Boy, our old king now what was going on. He took this seriously, no one touches our Serpents.
Within the matter of a couple hours, Fp was gone, dead.
Betty: I'm just over being the girl in the shadows. I groaned out.
Jughead: break up with him. He said.
Betty: I wish it was that simple. I said.
Jughead: it is being asexual. He smirked.
Betty: not all of us are as lucky as you. I smirked back.
Jughead: you know this is a reflection of you right? You're horny, whereas, I'm not. I let out a laugh as I rolled my eyes.
Betty: that's just a glorified way of saying you're a virgin. I said making us both laugh.
We both ate breakfast and headed to our school on the South Side.
(3 weeks later)
Sweet Pea and I haven't really been talking much lately but I guess that may change. Starting from today we're all going to be transferred to Riverdale High.
It's going to go horribly, I can already tell.
Jughead and I arrived at our new school and saw all my Serpents waiting outside.
Betty: let's show these bitches who's in charge. I said and they all cheered.
Jughead, Toni, Joaquin, Fangs and I all walked in first, everyone following behind us.
We walked down the hallway until we were stopped by a table, standing behind it was a bunch of stuck up North Siders.
They had skimpy dresses, worse then the South Side, makeup like hookers and overall, just annoying looking people.
Cheryl: look what trash just walked in. She said.
Betty: watch your mouth tomato. I said as I rolled my eyes.
Veronica: we don't need you under achievers ruining our gpa. She said.
Toni: at least we don't get our daddies to pay our way through life. She said.
Fangs: get out of our way, or we'll bite.
As he said that, we all walked through the North Siders, we own this school now.
We were soon introduced to Mr. Honey, the schools principal who helped us find our way around and gave us everything else we would need.
He had a few North Siders who were genuinely helpful, so I guess not all of them are bad. Just at least 80% I wouldn't trust.
We soon had class and I had it with all my best friends. Thank god, I actually don't think I would survive without them.
We headed to English and took a seat at the back.
We watched all the North Siders stroll into class, giving us disgusted looks.
I soon saw as Sweet Pea walked in. We made quick eye contact before his friend began talking to him, causing Sweet Pea to look away from me.
Betty: I can't believe him. I whispered to Jughead.
Jughead: just ignore him. He whispered back.
Toni: what are you two whispering about? She chuckled.
Betty: about how shit it is here. I said.
Fangs: agreed. He said and we all nodded our heads.
The teacher soon walked in and told us to be quite.
You could tell that he was obviously disgusted that he had to be in the same room as us big bad Serpents.
The Serpents aren't bad people. We're a family, people who are there for each other. We don't bite unless we need to.
We played by their rules, sitting quietly and doing whatever was asked of us.
It was soon recess and I was relieved to finally get away from these North Siders.
Jughead and I headed to our lockers which were right beside each other.
We got out our food and headed to the back of the school where there were a bunch of picnic tables.
We took a seat there and the rest soon arrived.
The three of them sat opposite Jughead and I.
Joaquin: you'll never guess who we just saw. He said.
Betty: who? I asked confusedly. Who on earth would we know that's a North Sider?
Toni: Reggie. She said.
Reggie Mantle.
He use to be a Serpent, my best friend.
About two years ago he left without a trace.
Betty: he goes here? I asked angrily. They nodded their heads.
I stood up, I'm going to confront him. Why the hell would he leave the Serpents?
Jughead: what are you doing? He asked.
Betty: going to find out why he left the Serpents. I said angrily.
He can't just leave the Serpents for preppy's and think it's okay.
I was walking down the hallway when I saw him at his locker.
I grabbed his arm and pulled him into a spare classroom.
Reggie: Betty? He asked in shock.
Betty: why the hell did you leave the Serpents? I asked angrily.
Reggie: it- I. He stuttered.
Betty: don't waste my time Reggie. Why did you leave us for these rich bitches. I said.
Reggie: I didn't have a choice. He mumbled.
Betty: how? I said impatiently.
Reggie: my dad made me. He said quietly.
Betty: you knew you were always welcome to stay at my house. That isn't it an excuse Reggie. I said angrily.
Reggie: Betty. He said.
Betty: I can't believe you. I said angrily at him.
He rolled up his sleeve and I instantly felt like the biggest bitch.
His arm was covered in bruises.
Betty: please tell me this isn't what I think it is. I said as I felt tears well up in my eyes.
He stayed silent as he pulled his sleeve back down.
Reggie: I'm sorry for making you cry. He said like it was his fault.
What has his dad done to him?
I took in a deep breath as I walked up to him, embracing him in a soft hug, I didn't want to hurt him.
Betty: listen to me okay, you're going to live with me. I'm going to make sure you're safe okay. I said.
Reggie: he'll find me. There's no point risking it. He said robotically.
Betty: hey come on now, you know I'll be able to deal with this. I said as I raised my hand to his chin and caressed his jaw.
Betty: I'll make sure nothing ever happens to you again. I said as I looked into his eyes.
Reggie: you don't have to. He said.
Betty: I do, come on. I'm taking you home. I said.
I took his hand in mine and took him out to my bike. I gave him my helmet as we sped home.
Betty: go have a shower and I'll make you something to eat. You can borrow some of Jughead's clothes. I said.
He walked off as I walked into the kitchen, making him a sandwich.
I'm so angry with myself.
I let him leave and I didn't do anything. I thought he left because he wanted to, and it hurt me.
And then today, I came in yelling at him. I'm such an idiot.
I finished making his food when I got a message from Jughead.
(Betty and Jughead's messages)
Hey b, where are you?
I've gone home, taken Reggie with me. He's going to be living with us.
Oh, what's going on?
It's a long story, I'll tell you when you get home.
Okay, I'll see you later

I took a seat in the kitchen as I waited for Reggie.
He soon walked out of the bathroom, wearing Jughead's clothes.
Betty: sit. I said as I pointed next to me.
He sat by my side and began eating.
I didn't know what to say. Nothing I could say would make up for everything I said or the way I acted today.
Betty: I'm really sorry for the way I acted. I said as I looked into his eyes.
Reggie: it's not your fault Betty. He said as he shrugged his shoulders.
Betty: no Reg, I shouldn't have acted like that and I'm so sorry. I said.
Reggie: just forget about it. He said. I gave him a half smile.
As he ate we remained in a comfortable silence.
I'm glad to have my best friend back, and safe.
Betty: I've missed you a lot. I said as I rested my hand over his, gently caressing my thumb over his hand.
He was 16 when he left, two years ago.
When we were fifteen, we had gotten extremely close. As in close to dating close.
Both of us were too scared to ever initiate a relationship but the feelings were always there.
Reggie: I missed you too Betts. Hearing him call me Betts just felt so right.
Betty: have you been seeing anyone? I asked.
I couldn't help but ask.
Reggie: no, you? He asked. I just looked into his eyes as I nodded my head.
Reggie: that's okay. He said, I could see that he was slightly hurt.
We soon moved into the lounge and we put the tv on, letting him have a break from life.
Today has been a massive day for the both of us, I want to make sure I'm not pushing him.
It was around the time that we'd finish school when Reggie turned to me.
Reggie: hey do you mind if I take a nap? I'm just really tired. He asked my permission.
Betty: Reggie you can do whatever okay. You're safe here. I said and he nodded his head.
He got up and walked to his room.
Once I heard him close the door, I pulled out my phone and texted Tall Boy. I told him to gather up a few men and to go and kill Mr. Mantle.
No one hurts Reggie and gets away with it. No way in hell.
I hate seeing how hurt he is. That's not going to happen any longer whilst he's living here with Jughead and I.
They're my sweet angels and I want to protect them with my everything. They deserve more then the world and I'm so angry that they were given shitty, abusive fathers.
Jughead soon arrived home and I began explaining to him the situation.
Jughead: I never would have thought. He said in shock.
Betty: and I feel like such an asshole Juggie. As soon as I saw him, I started yelling at him. I said as tears welled up in my eyes.
Jughead: come on Betts, he knows you wouldn't have meant it. He said as he wrapped me up in his arms.
Betty: but still. I should never had said that.
As I said that, I could hear his door open. I quickly tried to wipe away my tears but it was too late.
Reggie: Betty? He asked as he sat next to me and wrapped me into his arms.
Reggie: you need to understand that I'm not mad at you. He said.
Betty: I'm mad at myself Reg. I've been a terrible friend to you. I shouldn't even call myself that. I said as a tear rolled down my face.
Reggie: Betts. He said sadly as he wiped away my tear.
He pulled me into his lap and I wrapped my arms around him.
Betty: you're never leaving me again. I whispered to him.
We stayed in this position for the next few hours.
It was around 6:39 pm when we heard a knock on the door.
Jughead: I'll get it. He said, knowing that Reggie and I were comfortable and needed to be close right now.
He answered the door and in walked Sweet Pea. I don't want to deal with this drama today.
Sweet Pea: what is he doing here? He asked rudely.
Betty: he's my friend and he lives here. I said back.
Sweet Pea: so we don't talk for a few days and you get a new toy? He rolled his eyes.
Reggie: maybe you should back off and not speak to her like that. He said as he put me down and walked over to Sweet Pea.
Sweet Pea: and who do you think you are? You're a literal nobody. He said.
Reggie: well clearly your girlfriend knows me. He winked.
Sweet Pea: you little bitch. He said just as Reggie punched him in the face.
Jughead: well, that's cool. He said as he pushed Reggie away from Sweet Pea.
Betty: Get out of my house Sweet Pea and don't bother coming back. I said.
Sweet Pea stood up and left as he saw blood on his hands.
Reggie: sorry. He said as he looked to me. I smirked.
Betty: if he doesn't treat you the way he should, I don't need him in my life. Now come here. I smiled. He smiled too as he walked back over to me.
He wrapped me back in his arms and I knew we were right back to before he left.

I've been laying in bed for the past three hours and I couldn't sleep. I just wanted to be with Reggie.
I got up out of bed and walked to his room. I leaned against his door frame as I watched him peacefully sleeping.
He looked so calm and relaxed, I never want to see him hurt again. I never want to see him scared.
He's mine to look after now. I will protect him with everything I've got.
I walked into his room and sat on the edge of his bed.
I raised my hand to his hair and ran my hand through it. I always told him that was my favourite feature of his.
He slowly woke up, a small smile forming on his face when he saw that it was me.
Reggie: hey. He whispered.
Betty: hey. I smiled.
Reggie: can't you sleep? He asked. I nodded my head.
Reggie: there's always extra room in here, do you want to stay with me? He asked. I nodded my head.
He smiled as he pulled back his blanket. I got into bed beside him and he wrapped the blankets over me.
Reggie: you comfortable? He asked as he wrapped his arm around me.
Betty: I couldn't be better. I smiled as we looked into each other's eyes.
