You woke up in the morning after a much better rest. You realised you were still lying on the doctor and slowly opened your eyes and looked up at her, surprised she hadn't moved.
"Morning (y/n), sleep better?" she asked.
"Much better, thank you" you smiled.
The doctor absentmindedly began gently playing with your hair again.
"Thanks for everything last night, and for staying here with me" you smiled.
"I'll be here, whenever you need me" she smiled.
You felt a warm feeling rush to your heart at her words. You never normally had someone sleep beside you without doing anything with them. It felt nice to have someone there to comfort you.
"Did you get any sleep?" you asked.
"I got around four hours actually, that's the most I've slept in a long time" she smiled.
There was a knock on your door and Yaz, Ryan and Graham entered.
They were already dressed and looked at the both of you, raising their eyebrows, you realised you were still resting your head on the doctor's chest whilst she was playing with your hair.
"sorry, are we interrupting something?" Yaz laughed.
"You managed to charm her then (y/n)?" Ryan gave you a wink.
You moved away quickly and sat up; the doctor sat on the edge of the bed.
"It's not like that!" you said, blushing slightly, you never blushed.
"I was helping (y/n) sleep, I was just comforting her" the doctor said glaring at them.
"Yaz said you had a rough night (y/n), we were heading your way, but she reassured us that you were ok" Graham added.
"Yeah, I had another nightmare, the doctor and Yaz really helped though" you smiled.
"You should try the breakfast, it's really good" Graham added.
They left you to get dressed and head down for some breakfast, meeting you at the sofa's you sat at yesterday in reception.
"Right fam, busy day ahead of us, let's find out what going on" the doctor said.
You all headed off to the hospital. You checked in with the lady you met yesterday and were all given badges with access to the whole of the hospital for you to 'inspect'. The doctor thanked her.
"I think we should start with one of those people on the list you found yesterday (y/n), ask them if they know why a blood sucking alien might be after them" The doctor said.
You laughed slightly and quickly logged into a computer near you, bringing the list up again. "let's see, there is someone who works on this floor we could start with? Dr. Raymond Simmons" you said, bringing up his picture, "works in minors" you added.
"Perfect, Lets head there together, stay close, all of you" the doctor replied, particularly looking at you.
You made your way to the minor's department and came to the room with his name printed on the door.
"Right, he hasn't got a patient with him, now's our chance" the doctor said, knocking on the door.
"Come in" he said.
You all entered, he was a middle-aged man, his skin glimmered gold and you couldn't help noticing how attractive he was.
"Hello, we're inspecting the hospital, I'm sure you've been told that we're doing our rounds. It's good to meet you Doctor Simmons, or Raymond, ooh I'll call you Ray" the doctor said offering him her hand.
He shook it, looking slightly confused.
"I am aware of the inspection; how can I help you all?" he asked.
"We just need to ask you a few questions" Yaz said shutting the door.
"Nothing to worry about" Graham smiled.
"Yeah, we need to find out some more about your department and about you" Ryan added.
"You were deployed as a medical officer for your planet, the last time there was a war, can you please tell us some more information on this?" you asked, getting straight to the point.
"Good question" the doctor smiled.
"The war, ehh what's that got to do with this department?" he said nervously.
"Just need some background information" the doctor said.
"well, err yes, I was a medical officer on duty helping the injured in the field. There were ten of us in the fleet. The war was between us and the Axons, a few other races got dragged in too".
"I don't like wars, too much violence. What were you fighting over...who was the most golden?" she laughed slightly, "The Axons are also a golden skinned race, before they turn all spaghetti looking" the doctor told you all.
"We were fighting over the planet, they were trying to take it from us and steal all of its energy" he said, slightly annoyed.
"I'm sorry, I'm glad you were able to save it" the doctor said sincerely.
"Can I just ask though, what other races got caught up in the war, did one of them happen to be the plasmavore's? The doctor asked.
You could tell that Dr. Simmons was becoming more nervous now, he stared at the doctor in shock.
"That look tells me they were there, now tell me what happened" the doctor said.
"Nothing happened" he finally said, "There was a small family of them that joined the axons, they said that they'd help them, allow them to take the energy, if they in return could drain all of our people of their blood" he said disgusted.
"sounds about right" the doctor said, "What happened to them?" she asked.
"I..I don't know" he stuttered.
"I hope that's the truth, You need to think very carefully about that answer, because your life and the remainder of the team who was with you, depends on it" the doctor said, slightly angry.
"Four of them have already been murdered by a plasmavore this last week, she's hunting your team down one person at a time, covering up their deaths. It won't be long until she comes for you! Now if you can think of any reason she'd be doing this you need to tell us, we can help" You said.
The doctor looked at you with surprise and pride, she didn't think you'd be able to remain calm.
"What happened? Please, just tell us" you said.
He sighed, "The war had ended and me and my team were doing our usual sweep for casualties, checking for survivors, and helping the wounded. We came across the family of plasmavores, there were only three of them, looked like a mother, father and child. They were all wounded and helpless. They begged for our help, asking for forgiveness. But we knew of their intentions, they were only going to drain us of our blood when they got stronger" he stated.
"What did you do?" the doctor asked anger in her eyes.
"We shot them, they had no place on our planet" he said.
"That was not your choice to make! I hate guns, violence, there could have been another way" the doctor sighed.
"Well, that explains what the plasmavore wants" Yaz said.
"Revenge" you replied.
"Getting even is not the answer, it just makes you both as bad as each other, this is as much you and your teams fault as it is hers, no killing was necessary" the doctor glared at him.
"You will help though? You will stop what's happening?" Dr Simmons asked.
"Yes, because that is the right thing to do, violence is not needed though, I have what's up here" the doctor said whilst pointing to her forehead.
"I think maybe we need to pay Nora a little visit Doc" Graham said.
"Be vigilant, she could be after anyone of you soon, at any time" the doctor said to Dr. Simmons as you all left the room, shutting the door behind you.
