《Jungkook, break the pipe back there!》
Jungkook runs to the tube connected to the drain and kicks it hard, breaking it. Tears away the rest of the tube that was attached to the car window.
We open the door and Taehyung falls dead weight towards us, I manage to catch him on the fly and the exhaust gas comes out intoxicating us as well.
I touch his neck to see if I feel his heartbeat while Jungkook calls the ambulance. It's weak but fortunately, it's there.
Jungkook approaches us with his cell phone in speakerphone.
"Can you hear your friend's heartbeat?"
A voice on the other side asks us, it must be a nurse who helps us for first aid.
《Yes, but it's very weak.》 I reply quickly.
"Is he breathing?"
I open my eyes when I bring my ear close to his nose, I don't hear anything. Taehyung isn't breathing.
《No-no he is not!》
"You have to give him mouth-to-mouth resuscitation, otherwise you'll risk losing him."
《I'll do it.》 Jungkook intervenes confidently.
He crouches next to me and takes Taehyung's face in his hands, with two fingers he closes his nose and with a big breath inside he attacks his lips with Taehyung's, practicing mouth-to-mouth breathing.
《Tae please ...》I beg.
Jungkook continues until we hear his breathing returning, but it was very feeble. After a while, the ambulance arrives and takes Taehyung away. We watch the vehicle move away from us with the sirens flashing in the road beside the woods.
If I think about it... Taehyung was going to end his life ... my blood boils with anger.
First, we take care of the car and we arrive at the hospital, both Jungkook and I remain silent, both because we are in shock, but also because we are tired, it's late at night. We don't know what to say, but what can we say in such a situation? Our best friend was about to commit suicide.
We arrive at the hospital and head straight to the counter for information.
《Which room is Kim Taehyung in?》

I nod my head to thank, while Jungkook has already run to the elevator, he frantically clicks the button, but seeing that it doesn't arrive he climbs the stairs all in a hurry.

He doesn't even hear me and runs his way. The elevator arrives and I go up, I arrive at the same time as Jungkook, who is out of breath.
《What did it cost you to wait, asshole?》
《I wanted to come as soon as possible.》 He replies as we head towards the hallway, looking for his room number.
《Hey, you two.》
We turn around abruptly, a man with a long white coat approaches us, I suppose it's the doctor.
《Are you the friends who found Kim Taehyung?》
《Yes.》
《Well, then I'll tell you what we did to him. What he was doing was almost his end. We practiced oxygen therapy, totally cleaning the respiratory tract. But he will have to remain under observation for a few more days.》
《Thank you very much ... Doctor?》
《Dr. Seon.》he bows to us slightly and we do the same.
《You can go see it, but remember he's weak.》
We nod and the doctor smiles at us putting a hand on our shoulders.
《I don't know what your friend is going through, but stay by his side, he needs it.》
He squeezes his fingers on our shoulders as if to reinforce what he said and then goes away.
We enter Taehyung's room, it's dark but we can see him enough to see his silhouette sitting on the bed under the covers, his hands on his legs, a straight look that stares into space.
He did not notice our presence.
《What the fuck were you planning on doing?》
I exploded, I can't do anything, the whole situation is pissing me off. How can he be so weak?
《Die.》
My blood freezes in my veins. Yes, we know that it was his intent, but hearing him say it is something scary.
Jungkook imposes himself before him.
《How can you think of doing such a thing?》
《I'm better off dead.》
Taehyung responds without hesitation, his gaze is fixed before him.

I nod. Jungkook and Taehyung tried to have a relationship during the vacation they spent together. Something was born between them and they tried to develop it.
《We understood that it couldn't work, we really tried.》
《You did well, but in any case, I would've supported you.》 I squeeze Jungkook's shoulder, then we go in again to be with Taehyung.
After this episode, Taehyung was followed by a psychologist to help him. Jungkook and I remained at his side throughout his journey, slowly he took his life back in his hand and returned more or less as he was before.
He no longer tried to take his own life but the scar remained of that night. I don't know what he went through in those hours but something marked him. We managed to find out what he was doing because he left us a farewell letter, we understood immediately. He asked us about that wood a couple of days earlier.
