Chapter 6
The next morning, mom text all the kids to get up, and even sent Rob to get them all up. A half hour later, it was seven and the kids were the only family in the hotel cafeteria and went to get themselves some breakfast.
Alex and Joe replaced the bandages and tape around her wrist to hold into place, and she put the wristbands back on. She was just picking at a blueberry muffin that Nick brought over for her as he got him one too.
Alex smiles as Nick, “Thank you.”
“You’re welcome.”
“So,” Kevin said coming over and sits down beside her. “How are we feeling?”
“Good, I guess,” she said. “Just nervous on… what’s going to happen this morning.”
“Don’t worry,” Joe said going over and sits down across from them. “Mom said that she talked to him, so we’ll know.”
Alex nods as she eats her muffin.
Soon they heard someone coming into the room and it was mom, dad, Frankie, and Danielle with Rob behind them.
“Morning,” Denise said going over and kisses the top of her four kids.
“Morning mom,” they told her with smiles.
Denise kisses Alex, “A word with you please.”
Alex dropped her muffin as Nick, Joe, and Kevin watches her.
“Can one of us come along mom?” Joe asked.
“Please?” Nick and Kevin asked.
“No, she doesn’t need you. Nothing is going to happen.”
Alex stands up, and just goes to a corner of the room waiting.
Paul and Denise just walk over toward her.
“Now, I have an appointment with a local doctor, and he would like you and your father to go with you.”
Alex’s jaw dropped, “Why can’t Kevin, Nick, or Joe come with me.”
“You young lady don’t need your brothers to tag along with you,” Paul said.
Alex rolls her eyes, “Fine.”
“Cool it,” Denise said to the both of them. “They want to talk to you alone, and then talk to your dad. Since dad is your boss too, he has the right in making chooses for you if they are bad.”
“Great,” Alex said and sits down in a chair.
“You don’t stop, I can make you go to a mental institute and you can stay there and recover alone.”
“Great and make me cut more because I don’t have love there too?” Alex asked him.
“Alexis is not going anywhere,” Denise said. “She is staying with us.” Denise looks at Alex, “You leave in an hour. Rob and dad are going with you.”
“Please, let at least one of my brothers come with us. That’s all I’m asking you.”
“You’ll be fine.”
Alex stands up, “Are we done now so I can go eat.”
Denise sighs, “Yes.”
Alex walks off and back to the table.
“What happened?” Nick asked.
Alex shakes her head no.
Joe’s jaw dropped. “You’re staying?”
“No, mom has setup an appointment for me to go see the doctor. Surprisingly it’s just Rob, dad, and I going.”
“What?” Kevin asked shocked.
“What about us?” Nick asked.
“Mom and dad said that I don’t need you around.”
“Alex…” Joe started.
“I know. I asked if one of you can go, but mom said no. Even dad.”
They ate their breakfast in silence.

Soon, Alex, Paul, and Rob went to the office that Denise called, and went they got there, Alex was nervous, until she saw the name on the office door. She then smiled.
“What’s your problem?” dad asked.
Rob saw the name, “Wow, never thought that Denise would call him.”
“I know right,” Alex smiled and went up to the counter with Paul right behind her.
“May I help you?” a nurse asked.
“Yes, my daughter is for an appointment that my wife Denise called in,” Paul told her.
“Okay, have your daughter fill out the forms, and Dr. Williams will be with you in a few minutes.”
Alex smiled taking the clipboard. “Thank you Heather.”
“You’re welcome.”
Alex goes over and fills out the papers, and then soon, the door opens up.
“Ms. Jonas,” he said reading some papers, and then looked up. “Alex?”
Paul looks up, “You.”
Alex smiled at her friend Brennan, “I would’ve never thought that mom would’ve called you.”
“Well, you know me, I learned almost everything.”
“Wonderful,” dad sighed as Rob chuckles, and looks at him. “What’s so funny?”
“Did you not see the pile of chips that fell off your daughters shoulders at the front door? You might want to go pick them up.” Rob asked.
Paul didn’t say anything, and they got into the room.

After they all sat down in the exam room and Brennan looks at Alex’s cuts on her wrists and heard the whole story of what started it, he made some notes.
“Alex, I never would’ve thought of you as a cutter,” he started. “I’m sorry that Kevin made you start it. But seriously, there is nothing I can do.”
“What?” Paul asked.
Rob asks, “Are you sure?”
“Well Mr. Jonas, there isn't anything really wrong. She's only done it three times, and that's not enough to have stop what she is doing. It doesn't seem to be the music that is causing this. It seems to be more personal," he told them.
Alex sits there with her head down.
“Is there anything personally going on Alex?” Brennan asked her.
She looks at her dad, “Just the name calling that I get from dad.”
“But you don’t do anything right that I have to get you to do something.”
“Name calling isn’t the correct thing to say, even for a new cutter. That’s why she must have snapped the second time.” Brennan looks at Paul. “I advise that you all just keep an eye on her. She’s only done it three times, and I think there could be more family incorporated time," The doctor adds.
“She’s on stage most of the time with her brothers.”
“I think it’s you and your wife that needs to spend time with her too.” Brennan looks at Alex, “And I have to tell you thank you so much for the tickets and M&G passes for the kids. They couldn’t stop talking about the show last night and getting to meet everyone.”
Alex smiles, “Hey I told you that I would help out.”
Paul sighs, “Okay. So there is no medication or anything that she can take?”
“I’m sorry but no. Just spend time with her and make sure that she’s not alone for a few weeks. And it doesn’t hurt to say ‘We love you’ or ‘We are proud of you’. Hugs are a bonus too.” He then folds his arms, “Now before I leave this room, and Rob does too. You two are going to hug in this room before you leave.”
Alex looks at her dad. When was the last time he hugged her. The boys were more huggable then dad was.
Paul stands up as Alex gets off the table, they walk toward each other, and Paul hugs her daughter, and sadly they both cried.
“I didn’t realize that…”
Alex nodded, “I know.”
Father and daughter finally hugged after all this time.

Back at the hotel, the brothers were in their suite front room waiting for dad, Alex, and Rob to come back. They already had their bags packed and ready to go. They were just waiting to leave. Denise and Danielle were making sure stuff was ready to go while Frankie was sitting down on the couch waiting too.
“What’s taking so long?” Nick asked.
“I don’t know. Mom said that it could take hours,” Joe told him.
“But we fly out at one, we have to do sound check and everything right when we get there,” Kevin told them.
“Luckily we have time to get there,” Nick told them.
Mom walks back into the room from her bedroom with her bag and dad’s bag. “Okay, Rob just called and said they are on their way here, so we have to get our stuff and head downstairs.”
“Did he say how it went?” Joe asked.
“He said that it went great.”
“Great?” they asked in shock.
“Come on, let’s get downstairs.”
After they all grabbed the bags and double-checked the rooms and bathrooms, everyone head downstairs.

As everyone got downstairs, Rob walks into the hotel with Paul and Alex smiling and talking while eating an ice cream cone.
“What the…” Frankie started to ask.
“Oh hey boys,” Paul said smiling as he finishes his ice cream.
“Okay, who are you and what have you done with our father and sister?” Joe asked.
Alex laughed, “We finally did some talking and the doctor had a heart to heart talk with us, and mostly at dad.”
“Who was it?” Kevin asked.
Alex smiled, “Brennan.”
“You went to see him?” Nick asked in shock.
“Yep,” she smiled. “Mom wanted to make sure that I knew a doctor and he knew me, so mom talked to him. We told him the story, and told us that before we left the room we were to hug.”
“Then I realized that I hadn’t hugged your sister for so long, we both can’t remember when the last time I hugged her,” Paul told them.
“Wow,” Danielle said in shock.
“He did say that we all have to keep an eye on her. Stay with her at all times, and it doesn’t hurt to say ‘I love you’ and hug her,” Paul told them.
“Well, we have a flight to catch,” Denise said.
Dad went to check everyone out as they went to go load the SUV.
“So, are you okay?” Nick asked.
Alex finished her ice cream. “Yea.” She then watches everyone start to help put the bags in and Alex looks at Nick. “Before we get inside, I wanted to ask you something?”
“Sure, is everything okay?” he asked.
“Oh, yeah. I’ve already talked to Joe about it last night, but um…”
“What is it?” he asked.
“Well anyways,” she looks into Nick’s brown eyes. “Would you be the first in line of my men-of-honor?”
Nick was surprised, and beamed, “I’d be honored Alex, and I’d love to be first in line.”
She smiled, “Thank you.”
She then hugged Nick as he hugged her back.
“But why?” he asked her.
She smiles, “Because you accepted me first. And you have been there for me when I needed you.”
Nick smiles as he sees Kevin watching them.
“What’s going on?” Kevin asked walking over.
“I’ll let him know,” she told Nick.
“Go for it,” Nick said and gets in the van.
“Let me know what?” Kevin asked worried.
Alex saw the worriedness in his eyes, “Oh, nothing’s wrong. I just have a question to ask you.”
“Okay.”
Alex smiled, and looks at Kevin in their matching hazel eyes and takes his hands. “Kevin?”
“Yes Alex?” he asked holding her hands in with his and raised his eyebrow.
“Would you mind being third in the line so that way you are standing beside Dani and Joe?”
Kevin was surprised and then smiled, “I would love too; I would be honored.”
Alex hugs him, “Thank you.”
He hugs her back, “You’re welcome.”
“Kids, let’s go,” dad said.
Kevin and Alex get into the van, and soon it takes off for the airport.

AN: So everything is fine... so far... and she asked Nick and Kevin if he would stand in line along with Dani, so that parts done... what's next? What do you think is going to happen next????
