The Day He Was Every Bit Right-Bella

By 314Wolf

Walking through town the other day,

Searching for someone specific;

He's not too hard to find though

Since most would say he's horrific,

They try to avoid him on the sidewalks

And hope never to pay him a visit;

So when I saw a lonely man,

I knew I'd found my ticket.

I asked him to take me with him,

As some people do often request;

And though he had seen me looking before

He never thought I'd confess.

He looked me in the eye that day,

And he told me this:

"I've been waiting for the day

You finally come and approach me.

Where some people avoid me, evade me,

Others, like you, they plea

For me to stop their suffering,

And very desperately.

But I feel you're not ready for me yet,

Oh no, not you my dear,

And I'll tell you it's because

I still see a hint of fear.

Not to mention I still sense

A small flicker of hope.

And who am I to snuff out your candle too soon

And fill up the room with your smoke?

If you show no hesitance,

I'll take your hand in mine;

But I have a feeling you want someone to notice you

When they pass us by.

You want someone to stop and say,

'Please, let me change your mind,'

And convince you that

You're worth more than my time."

So when I didn't reach out fast enough

He started to walk away;

I tried then to follow hand in hand

But he swatted my hand out the way.

His actions were to reaffirm;

He told me "No, not you, not yet."

And when I whispered "Thank you, sir,"

He said, "Please, call me Death."
