Jason let out a long sigh as he leaned back into his plush, leather chair and loosened his tie. He closed his eyes for a few minutes as he took a short break.

After a few minutes, he ran a hand through his hair and sat back up in his chair. He grabbed his pen and once again began working on the piles of paper stacked on his desk.

It was now Thursday and Jason was stuck in his office doing work. It was only just noon but he already had a lot of work to do.

After about a half hour of doing work, his office door opened and he looked up to see who it was.

"Hey bro!", Liam said cheerfully.

Jason turned his attention back to his work and said with a blank face, "What did you want?"

"What?", Liam said while clutching his heart in mock hurt. "Do I always need a reason to come visit my bestest friend during my lunch break?"

Jason looked up at him still with a blank look. "Yes."

Liam sighed and shook his head. Then he smiled again.

"Well I actually came here to go get lunch. Come on."

Jason shook his head. "Can't." He gestures to the stacks of paper on his desk with his hands.

"Who cares? You're the boss! Come on, let's go."

Jason sighed again but stood up anyways and fixed his tie. He nodded at Liam and they both left his office.

When they make it out of the office building, Liam's black SUV was already parked at the front and his driver had the door opened. They both climbed in and headed off to lunch.

When they got to the restaurant they were seated immediately by the manager himself. The staff there instantly recognized them and did whatever they could to please them. They didn't want to risk getting on the bad side of two of the most powerful people in the US, if not the world.

The manager led them to a VIP table near the back where they could have some privacy away from the rest of the restaurant. As soon as they sat down, the manager had already called for a waitress to get their orders. The waitress was a blonde with a tight uniform that made her boobs slightly pop out of her low buttoned up shirt. Her makeup was caked onto her face and had on long fake eyelashes. She batted her eyes in what she thought was a seductive look. She was trying to get the attention of the handsome, god-like men in front of her.

Both Jason and Liam placed their orders with not so much as a glance towards her. After she wrote down their orders, she walked away while swaying her hips in hopes that they would look at her. She didn't even get a glance.

"Liam. What is the real reason why you wanted to have lunch today?" Jason asked suspiciously.

"Like I said. I can't just have lunch with my best friend?"

Jason gave him a look saying he didn't believe him. "Seriously, you've been abnormally happy and giddy this whole time. What's going on?"

Liam let out a fake, over exaggerated sigh. "Fine. Fine. Geez, stop your prying. If you must know," he said sarcastically. Then he smiled, "I got a date Friday night."

"And.... ?"

He shrugged. "That's it."

"Then why are you acting so happy? It just a date. It's not like it's your first one."

"No man, it's just, I don't know. I just... have a feeling that this girls going to be different. You know, unlike the normal girls I go on dates with."

The waitress comes back with their food and drinks. She sets it down in front of them and made sure to add a nice bend to show more of her cleavage than was already on display. She got back up and turned to leave, but not before shooting a wink at both of them. Her face falls when she noticed that both of them weren't even looking at her. She huffed and put on a pout stormed away to another table.

"So tell me. Who is this girl you are so excited to see?"

"I'm not sure. All I know is that her names Liv."

"Well how did you get a date with her if you've never met her."

He shrugged. "I don't know. Krystal set me up with her. They're best friends apparently."

Jason frowned, which caused a crease to form between his eyebrows. "Since when were you two this close? We both just met her last Friday and your already going on a date with her best friend?"

Liam shrugged again. "I don't know. I trust her. Krystal's pretty cool so imagine her best friend is too."

He dropped the subject and they ate their food while talking about business. Jason decided he would call Krystal later to get more information on this 'Liv' girl. Liam was his best friend and considered him a brother. He didn't want him to be with a girl who was after his money. Been there, done that.

"Nurse Krystal!"

A smile immediately spread on Krystal's face as she heard the little squeal. She turned around and crouched down while spreading her arms wide open. Not a few seconds later, she was engulfed in a hug, small arms wrapping around her neck.

"Hi Emily!" she said back with the same amount of enthusiasm. "How has my favorite little patient been doing?"

Emily giggled at being called her favorite patient. "I'm good. I finished all my medicine today so mommy said I can have pudding after dinner!" she bounced up and down in excitement.

"That is very good, but let's get you back in your room where you belong." Krystal picked her up and set her on her hip as she walked towards Emily's room. "Why were you out here anyways?"

Emily smiled an innocent smile. "I wanted to say bye to you before you left."

Krystal kissed her cheek. "I would've came and said goodbye anyways munchkin."

They entered Emily's room and Krystal sat her down on her bed. Krystal stood back up and then felt a small hand squeeze her index finger.

"Nurse Krystal, before you leave, can you read me a story?" She looked up at Krystal with hope in her eyes and Krystal couldn't resist.

"Of course sweetie."

Emily scooted over on her bed and Krystal sat down beside her. While Krystal was getting adjusted, Emily took out her favorite book. Cinderella.

Krystal looked at the book and smiled. Emily always picked this book.

She opened the book and started reading. By the time she was done, Emily was already asleep against Krystal's side. Krystal smiled as she looked down at her.

As carefully as she could, she slid out of the bed and fixed Emily so she would be more comfortable. She pulled the blanket up to her chin and placed a kiss on her bald head.

Emily had cancer. She was diagnosed with it when she was two years old. Her childhood consisted of going in and out of hospitals though she never let her cancer hold her back. She acted like any other six year old should. That's what Krystal admired most about this little girl. She was strong.  She always thought about others before herself. She was selfless even though she didn't need to be.

Emily could brighten up anyone day. She was always so cheerful and happy that you wouldn't be able to tell she had cancer if not for her little bald head. Everyone in the hospital loved her and wished she would get better. Someone as innocent as her didn't deserve to suffer so much. Actually, no one did. Kids or adults.

Out of all the patients admitted in the hospital Krystal was attached to Emily the most. Krystal loved her and would do anything for her.

With one last glance at her, Krystal turned and left the room. She made sure to close the door as quiet as she could so Emily wouldn't wake up. She walked down the hall and changed out of her scrubs in the employee locker room.

She was walking out of the main entrance when her phone started ringing. She looked at the screen to see who it was. It was definitely the last person she expected to call her right now.

Jason.
