Jeno had made a decision.
This day he and Jaemin were alone in the doorm, since Chenle, Jisung and Renjun had went to Lotte World.
And Jeno planned to tell him. Now it was the perfect time. They were alone and he really needed to talk with the younger about this.
He had a plan and needed to prepare some stuff.
He was on the way to his room, when Jaemin came out of his.
"Hey", Jeno greeted with a smile.
"Hi", Jaemin slightly smiled back.
"Are you going somewhere?", Jeno asked, when he saw that Jaemin wore a jacket.
"Yes, I'm going to meet a friend.", Jaemin explained.
"Oh", Jeno seemed confused.
"Is that a problem?", Jaemin asked with a raised eyebrow.
"N-no, of course not." Seeing a friend? What kind of friend? Jeno didn't like the feeling in his stomach.
"Yeah, I haven't seen him in a long time and now that we have some days off, I thought it would be a good time to see him."
"Of course", Jeno forced a smile.
"Are you back before dinner?"
Because I need to talk with you. But these words didn't come over his lips.
"I think so.", Jaemin said and went to the door.
"See you later, Jeno-ah", he smiled slightly and then left.
"Bye, Nana", Jeno said, when the door was already closed.
Jeno was preparing everything for his talk with Jaemin. He repeated the words, he wanted to say, in his head. He didn't want to mess this up. He couldn't loose Jaemin.
If everything went wrong, he hoped that they still could be friends.
Jeno was deep in thoughts and looked around. "I hope it will be alright", he sighed.
Jeno thought about all the things, he had experienced with Jaemin.
Their friendship had gone a long way and no matter what would happen, he couldn't bear to loose the younger.
A small smile formed on his lips, when he thought about a special moment.
The memory was about one of the rare sleepovers they had done, when Jaemin was in hiatus.
*Flashback*
Jeno was currently playing a video game with Jisung and Renjun, when someone called him.
He looked on his phone and immediately stood up. "I'm sorry guys, but I really need to answer this call."
He went to his room and closed the door.
With a deep breath he put the phone to his ear. "Jaeminie?"
"Hi", Jeno could hear the smile from the boy on the other side of the line.
"Hey", Jeno also smiled.
"How are you?", Jaemin asked with his sweet voice.
"Good....But I miss you."
A few seconds silence followed before he heard a "I miss you too."
"Really much to be honest. That is also why I am calling", Jaemin continued.
"Yeah?", Jeno asked confused.
"Yes, Jeno-ah. The thing is that my parents are on a trip this weekend and I am home all alone, so I- I wanted to ask you, if you would like to have a sleepover. Just the two of us."
When Jeno didn't answer immediately, Jaemin is quick to add "Sorry, it is probably ridiculous. You are probably really busy with being an idol and I just thought I would at least ask. So don't be sorry, I will just-"
"Nana", Jeno interrupted.
"Yes?", Jaemin gulped.
"You are really lucky.", Jeno smiled.
"What do you mean?", Jaemin asked confused.
"That you are cute.", Jeno answered teasingly.
"Wah, Jeno-ah", Jaemin blushed. Jeno couldn't see him but he knew.
"I'm just joking. I mean, you are cute but that is not why I said that you are lucky.", Jeno explained.
Jaemin hummed, afraid to use his voice right then.
"You are lucky, Jaeminie, because I really have some days off, so I would love a sleepover at your place."
"Really?", Jaemin asked unsure.
"Really", Jeno smiled.
"Then- then I will see you?", Jaemin's voice was excited.
"Yes, you will see me, Nana."
A few days later Jeno stood in front of Jaemin's door, ready for their sleepover.
When Jaemin opened the door, he almost squealed, so happy to see the other.
He dragged Jeno inside and their spent the evening with laughing, hugs and 'I missed yous'.
They cooked together, played video games, watched movies and ate too much ice cream. Did all the things they normally didn't have time for but that are usual, when you are a teenager and have a sleepover.
They even had a pillow fight before going to bed.
Because it was always naturally for them to sleep in a bed together during sleepovers, they also did it that time.
But what was different for the first time was that Jaemin put his arms around Jeno and snuggled closer to him.
Jeno who was confused at first, quickly caught himself and also wrapped his arms around the younger.
"I am really happy that you came tonight. I would have been lonely and bored and also a little bit scared, if I would have spent this night alone.", Jaemin sighed.
"I am also glad that I came. I really missed you."
"Did you?", Jaemin said teasingly because Jeno had told him this an uncountable amount of time that night.
Jeno tickled his side as answer.
"Okay, okay, I am sorry", Jaemin said and snuggled his head again on Jeno's chest. "I really missed you too". Jeno stopped his tickles and instead caressed Jaemin's waist.
"I think we should sleep. It is already really late.", Jaemin yawned.
Jeno only hummed.
When they were close to fall asleep, Jeno heard it.
"I love you."
It left Jaemin's lips so easily, even though it was the first time he said it to Jeno.
Back then Jeno thought it was meant as friends. As brothers.
That is why he found himself saying it back. "I love you too."
Jaemin sighed happily and they fell asleep quickly after.
Back then everything was so uncomplicated.
But now everything was a mess.
Today Jeno knows that Jaemin didn't meant the words in a brotherly way. He didn't say these words to a friend. But neither did Jeno.
Even back then he knew he was in trouble. Because his heart just wouldn't stop beating for the younger boy in his arms.
*Flashback end*
Jeno got ripped out of his thoughts by a ping.
He looked at the time and his heart started beating faster. It was almost dinner time.
But when he looked at his phone all his giddiness, created by the thoughts from earlier, immediately faded away.
"I'm sorry but I won't make it to dinner."
"I hope you didn't prepare anything."
"My friend and me just have so much to tell each other. We really haven't seen each other in a long time. So much to catch up."
"But I hope I won't come home too late. See you <3"
Jeno looked around the kitchen and sighed.
Jaemin wouldn't be there for dinner.
He was disappointed. But he couldn't change it.
So that night, he ate alone.
Jeno sat in the living room, when he heard the lock.
He looked up, when he heard the door opened. A smiling Jaemin entered.
He went to the living room and flinched, when he saw Jeno sitting on the couch.
"Oh hey. Why are you sitting here alone? Aren't the others back yet?", Jaemin asked with a frown.
"Doesn't seem like it, does it?", Jeno said a little bit harsh.
"N-no. It doesn't.", Jaemin answered quietly.
Jeno sighed. "They are eating Korean BBQ in some restaurant. Seems like they want to enjoy their days off till the last minute."
"Yes, seems like it", Jaemin quietly smiled.
"Just like you", Jeno mumbled.
"What?", Jaemin looked up and in Jeno's eyes.
"Nothing.", Jeno sighed. "It just seems like you also have enjoyed your day off till the last minute."
"What is wrong with you?", Jaemin's voice became louder and he stepped closer to Jeno.
"What should be wrong?", Jeno asked, not looking in Jaemin's eyes.
"You treating me like this. Have I done something wrong? I don't get this. This morning everything was fine and now you are so cold."
"Maybe you should complain about me to your 'friend'."
"Are you seriously jealous right now?", Jaemin scoffed.
"Yeah, sure. Why should I be?", Jeno also scoffed.
"I don't get you", Jaemin shook his head.
"But fine. Continue being an asshole. This is what you are good in anyways."
Jaemin wanted to go to his room but Jeno's voice stopped him.
"Don't I have a right to be jealous. You are leaving early to meet your friend and you just came back right now. I've sat here the whole day alone, not knowing what you are up to."
Jaemin scoffed and shook his head.
Then he took a deep breath and turned around to look in Jeno's eyes.
"Maybe you wouldn't be so jealous if you would make things official between us!"
He tried to leave again but before he even had a chance, Jeno spoke up again.
"Maybe I wanted to ask you to be my boyfriend tonight!"
Jaemin rolled his eyes. "Yeah, of course you would have."
Jaemin looked in Jeno's eyes and Jeno looked back with determination in his eyes.
But Jeno didn't answer.
Jaemin's fiercy eyes became soft.
"Wait- would you?"
"Go in the kitchen and see for yourself" were Jeno's last words before he left to his room.
Jaemin was left dumbfounded.
He went with quick steps into the kitchen and gasped.
"What the-", Jaemin looked around. "Wow."
He couldn't believe his eyes.
He was surrounded by candle lights. The most already gone out but there were still some that let the room shine beautifully.
Jaemin smelled the food. It probably was really delicious. But when he looked closer, he saw that only one plate was left on the table. The other was already placed in the sink.
He smelled them before he really saw them.
A bouquet of wonderful roses.
And next to the roses.
A picture.
Both of them are smiling.
Jaemin knew when this picture was taken.
It was years ago.
The staff took it for them.
It was during their trainee days.
It was the day Jeno had a breakdown because he couldn't get the choreography right.
Jaemin comforted him.
He made Jeno's tears fade away and replaced them with a smile.
It was the day they agreed to be best friends.
Jaemin felt tears running down his cheeks.
Jeno did all this. For him. Jeno did all this for him.
He almost ran to Jeno's room.
But when he stood in front of the door, he hesitated.
He took a deep breath. And then he knocked gently.
"Can I come in?", he asked softly.
"As if you would listen, if I tell you 'no'.", Jeno said through the door.
Jaemin slowly opened the door and entered the room.
When he was inside, his breath got stuck in his throat.
He saw the dried tear stains on Jeno's cheeks.
"Oh my god, Jeno-ah", he quickly went to the older boy and cupped his cheeks in his hands.
"What are you doing?", he silently asked, shaking his head slowly.
Jeno put his hands over Jaemin's.
"I love you", he whispered.
Jaemin gasped. Didn't expect the words.
But then he pressed his forehead against Jeno's.
"I know.", Jaemin breathed. "And I love you."
Jeno made a sound, similair to a sob.
He leaned forward and pressed his lips against Jaemin's.
It was just a quick kiss. But significant.
"I don't want to run anymore. I don't want to be a coward. I love you, so so much. I can't live without you. I need you." New tears rolled down Jeno's cheeks.
Jaemin wiped them away but at the same time his own tears were falling.
"Then don't. I am here. I will always be here. I love you, Jeno-ah. So much that I need you around me as much as I need to breathe."
"We really are something, huh?", Jeno lightly chuckled.
Jaemin smiled but then he became serious.
"What are we, Jeno-ah?", he said and looked up in Jeno's eyes, foreheads still pressed together.
Jeno grabbed Jaemin's waist and pulled him on his lap.
Jaemin was straddling Jeno. Lips seperated by only a few millimeters.
"I want you to be my boyfriend. I want you to be mine. And I want to be yours.", Jeno said honestly.
"Yeah?", Jaemin traced his finger over the collar of Jeno's shirt. "Do you really want this?"
"Yeah", Jeno breathed. "I want this. I want you. Can I have you?"
Jaemin pretended to think. "I don't know can you?"
Jeno smirked. He knew what Jaemin wanted and right now he would do anything for the boy.
"Na Jaemin, would you make me to the happiest boy in this dorm and become my boyfriend?"
Jaemin chuckled and leaned back, Jeno's hands still on his waist.
"Only to the happiest boy in this dorm?", he asked teasingly.
"Well, of the world is so cliche and cheesy, don't you think? And to my defense: the boys went to Lotte World and Korean BBQ today. They are probably really happy.", Jeno said with a grin.
"Right", Jaemin giggled.
"Are you avoiding my question, Nana?", Jeno raised his eyebrows playfully.
Jaemin gulped and shook his head.
"No 'm not.", he pouted and hid his face in Jeno's neck.
"Are you sure about this? You know what this would mean. We would be officially. You are mine and I am yours. Do you really want this?", he mumbled in Jeno's neck.
Jeno caressed over Jaemin's waist.
"I want nothing more."
"But are you ready? I just want to make sure, you know?", Jaemin finally lifted his head to look in Jeno's mesmerizing eyes. "I don't want to be heartbroken in the end."
"As if I would let you get heartbroken, ever. I want this, Jaeminie. I really want this. But if you agree, there is one condition. We have to keep it a secret. No one is allowed to know. But we would be together like any other couple. Would you be fine with this?"
A few seconds silence followed and Jeno became nervous.
But then Jaemin smiled.
"Yes. Yes, I want to be your official boyfriend, Lee Jeno."
They kissed.
Their first kiss as a couple. Their first kiss of many.
The start of something new.
