Nathan and I were all business in class, but we continued our flirty banter through texts and phone calls rarely seeing each other outside of class due to our schedules. Friday night was our first home game of the season. Nathan didn't come, much to my disappointment, but we did win the game 72 to 13. We changed out of our uniforms in the locker room. Once we were all dressed we headed to Daniel's beach house.

The party was in full swing when we arrived. Empty bottles of gas station alcohol littered the counters and floor. You could feel the bass of the music in your chest and see the guys trying to slide behind girls as they danced. I made my way through the crowd, speaking to everyone and smiling. I saw Kevin standing by himself by the fireplace, so I walked over. "Where's your girlfriend?" I asked.

"I lost her a few minutes ago actually." He laughed slightly.

"As fine as you are I wouldn't leave you alone for a second." I flirted. Before he could respond a pair of arms came around my waist while lips graced my neck. I winked at Kevin before turning in Daniel's arms to face him.

"I've been looking for you." He stated.

"Not very hard." I said. "Dance with me." He said pulling me into the crowd of dancing teenagers. I moved my body against his, easily transitioning between the twerk music and grind time.

Time was moving way too fast for my liking. I checked my phone and it was already past eleven.

"DANNY! SOME GIRL PUKED ALL OVER THE BATHROOM!" Somebody yelled down the stairs.

"Damn it!" He exclaimed.

"Hey, calm down. I'll clear everyone out of here and you go check it out." I instructed, kind of glad the party would have to end and I wouldn't miss anything.

"Okay." He said kissing my cheek. I cleared the house of people except for Daniel and Kevin within ten minutes.

"Hey it's a big mess...Sorry we're not gonna get any alone time tonight." He said running a hand through his hair.

"It's okay." I said.

"I'll take her home bruh." Kevin offered. I tried to hide my smile.

"Nah I got it. Thanks man." Danny declined. "Give me one sec to grab my keys." He said before running upstairs.

"You almost had me." I flirted.

"I don't know what you mean." Kevin stated innocently.

"I'm pretty sure you do." I said stepping closer to him.

"Wow, you're bad." He stated with a smile.

I smirked, "No, I'm a good girl." I said as Danny returned.

"Let's go." He said grabbing my hand.

The drive to my house wasn't long. He stopped a few houses before mine and shut off the lights. He stepped out the car and came around to my side to open the door. I unbuckled my seatbelt and turned so my legs were swinging outside the door.

"It's past your curfew, your dad is going to kill you. He's never gonna let you out the house again." He said laughing.

"Then you better make this worth it." I said as I pulled him close and pressed my lips to his. I let out a small moan as his hand traveled my body down to my thighs where they rested. He moved from my lips down my neck where he nipped gently. His hand massaged my inner thigh sending shivers through my body. Suddenly his lips were on my forehead and he pulled back.

"If I don't stop now Syd, I won't..." He said.

"Fine, fine." I said grabbing my bag and shutting the car door behind me. I turned to walk away but instead turned back around and pulled him into another kiss.

I pulled back slowly. "Night Daniel." I smiled and walked to my house where my mother and father were inside waiting on the sofa.

"We had an agreement Sydney, twelve o' clock. It's twelve twenty-seven." He stated.

"Yea I know daddy, I'm sorry. We were having such a good time, I was telling them about the retreat that the youth ministry takes every summer. I guess we just lost track of time." I lied easily. This was my first slip-up since I started hanging out over the summer.

"Why didn't you call?" He asked.

"My phone died. I'm sorry daddy I really am, I know how worried you must've been." I continued. I felt a little bad about not at least sending a text.

"I need to be able to trust you Sydney. We had a deal tonight and you didn't hold up your end. Therefore, you're grounded until I decide I can trust you. School, practice and home, understand?" He questioned.

I rolled my eyes. "Dad that's not fair. I was with Soraya. If you would've just let me spend the night like a normal person we wouldn't even have this problem." I snapped.

"That's enough Sydney. You heard your father. Go to your room." My mother stated.

I feel like she always interrupts because she knows I can wear my father down. I rolled my eyes and ran up the stairs. "LITTLE GIRL, ROLL YOUR EYES ONE MORE TIME AND I'M GONNA KNOCK THEM OUT YOUR HEAD!" My mother yelled after me. I was careful to not slam my door but I threw my bag across the room and laid on my bed defeated.

I stayed up a while longer, just scrolling on social media and making sure no one accidentally tagged my finsta in any pictures. Once I was satisfied that my night out wouldn't end up on anyone from the church's radar, I fell asleep.

Knock! Knock!

I was vaguely aware of someone at my door, but I figured they would go away.

Knock! Knock!

"Ugh!" I groaned.

"SYDNEY!" I heard Sicily call out. I sighed and dragged myself out of the bed.

"What do you want?" I questioned as I opened the door.

"It's almost twelve and you're still in bed?" Sicily commented as she entered the room.

"Can I help you Sicily?" I asked sitting back on my bed checking my phone.

"Mom and dad are running errands and won't be back until this afternoon. I was thinking we could chill by the pool, catch up. I have things to tell you and I wanna hear all about your fabulous life." Sicily suggested.

"Yea that sounds great actually. I'll meet you by the pool in a few." I agreed. Truth? I loved spending time with my sister. We talk about everything, or at least we did up until this summer. Since we were homeschooled we were super close. Things changed as soon as we found out we would be going to a real school. I thrive on popularity and she couldn't care less. But none of that matters when we're chilling by the pool. I changed into my bikini, grabbed a towel and headed to the backyard where my sister was already by the pool. I laid my towel out on the lounge chair beside hers and laid on my back.

"SYDNEY! Is that a piercing?" Sicily exclaimed.

"I got it over the summer, cute right?" I smirked playing with the belly ring.

"What the hell? Is that why you didn't want to get in the pool most of the summer?" She asked.

"Yea, I didn't want daddy to see it or anyone that would tell daddy." I told her.

"You're tripping hard." She said shaking her head.

"Alright spill, you said you had things to tell me." I said putting on my sunglasses and changing the subject.

"There's this guy..."

"Wait! A member of the male species?" I interrupted, excited.

"Yes, a boy. His name is Charles and he is so handsome." Sicily started.

I laughed at her choice of adjectives. "Handsome Sicily? Okay, tell me more." I said with a smile.

"He's a junior too; we met in my French class." She told me.

"Are you talking about Charles Johnson? Sicily...oh my gosh, he is fine." I exclaimed.

"Yea so we exchanged numbers and he wants to talk to me, but we're not allowed to date." Sicily finished.

"So, what? Who said daddy has to know?" I shrugged.

"Syd, I'm not like you. I believe in following the rules and besides, if he's not willing to wait until I'm allowed to date then maybe he isn't the one." She said with a pensive look on her face.

"We're seventeen, are you really not gonna date the entire time we're in high school?" I asked.

"I'm sure daddy will change his mind at some point." She shrugged.

"I wouldn't count on it. Plus we'll be eighteen next summer and he won't have a say anymore." I sneered.

"What about you? How's Daniel?" She asked me. "I like Daniel, we've been something since June. He's a sweet guy and we look good together." I told her.

"But he's not your boyfriend." She stated.

"Always keep your options open little sister." I explained.

"You come into the world less than two minutes earlier and you know so much more." She said sarcastically.

Ding Dong! "I'll get it." I said standing up.

"Towel Syd...." Sicily said. I ignored her and walked into the house to the front door. I pulled open the door and was shocked to see Daniel on the other side with his head down.

"Daniel...hi. What are you doing here?" I smiled placing a hand on my hip.

"I'm sorry. I saw your parents' car wasn't here so I ... can I come in?" He asked.

"Uh, yea." I stepped aside to let him in. Sicily had reentered the house as well.

"We'll be in my room." I told her as I grabbed Daniel's hand and led him to my room.

"Is everything okay?" I asked him as he sat on my bed. I decided to stay in my spot against the door.

"No...last night, when I went back to the beach house, I was up late cleaning, so I crashed there. I woke up because I heard people downstairs...it was my father with another woman." He drug his hand through his hair.

"Oh my God..." I gasped.

"To make things worse he tried to pay me off, so I wouldn't tell my mother. When I refused the money, he threatened me, and we started fighting." He lifted his head for the first time and I saw the black eye forming.

"Daniel..." I sighed dropping to my knees in front of him. "Are you going to tell your mother?" I asked running my fingers over the bruising area.

"Yea, but I'll have to be strong for her when I do and I'm just not there yet...I don't feel particularly strong right now." He choked on the last words. I stood up and let him lay his head on my stomach. My heart hurt as his silent tears hit my bare stomach.

"You don't have to be strong right now." I whispered running my hand through his hair. His tears didn't last long, barely a minute. His tears on my stomach were soon replaced with his lips. His hands moved up my body, caressing me as if he was trying to remember every inch of me. I pushed him back on the bed so that I was straddling him. Our lips met over and over again as I ran my hands under his shirt, pulling it off. I kissed down his chest to the waistband of his jeans. I undid his belt pulling his jeans off leaving him in his boxers. He grabbed me and flipped us, so he was on top. He untied my bikini top, bringing his mouth down on my breast. I let out a moan. His hand made its way down to my bikini bottoms. I grabbed his hand.

"Wait..." I breathed. He groaned continuing his kisses on my neck.

"Daniel...I'm not ready." I said.

"I know, I know." He sighed, lying beside me. I reached over and pulled his dick out of his boxers, stroking it lightly. "Mmm Syd...stop." He said less than persuasively. I ignored him and moved my mouth south on him.

"Syd..." He started as we laid in my bed.

"I wanted to..." I said as I traced circles on his chest. "I know what you needed but..." He cut me off with a kiss.

"I know you're not ready." I smiled and pulled him into another kiss.

KNOCK! KNOCK!

"SYDNEY!" My father called out as he jiggled my doorknob.

"Hold on daddy I'm not decent." Daniel panicked, jumped up and grabbed his clothes. I pushed him into my bathroom grabbing my robe off the door. I took a deep breath before opening the door.

"What's up daddy?" I asked.

"I was just letting you know we're home. Your mother is taking Sicily to make dinner for Mrs. Roberts. If you're not still mad at me for grounding you, we can order Chinese and watch Holiday Heart." He told me.

"My favorite! I'll take the spicy veggie lo mein and a spring roll. I'll be down soon." I said before closing the door. Daniel stepped out the bathroom fully clothed.

"Guess it's time I go." He said wrapping his arms around my waist.

"Sydney...let's just make this official. I want you to be my girlfriend." He stated.

"I would love to be your girlfriend Daniel." I smiled big. He kissed me one more time before going out my window.
