Part 16; Behind their backs

Hiccup POV
I noticed as Eret and Y/N went up the hills together, Eret holding a basket. But I also took note of the other people walking up there earlier, and I trusted that Eret would take care of Y/N. I sigh as I stand up from my working desk and walk towards Astrid's house. I knock lightly on the door. I hear footsteps and Astrid opens the door.
-Hi Hiccup! Her face lights up.
-Hi, I smile back.
-What's up? She asks.
-Can I um, talk to you for a second? I ask. Astrid nods and lets me in, closing the door behind me. What Eret told me earlier today was really getting to me. I'm usually pretty good at keeping secrets, but this was regarding Y/N, which meant it was concerning all of us. Y/N had become like an older sister for us all, someone we could put our faith and trust in.
I sit down on one of the chairs by the fireplace. Astrid takes a chair and puts it beside me, sitting down so she's facing me.
-So what's up? Astrid repeats. I fiddle with my fingers and I bite my lip. Astrid puts a hand on my shoulder.
-Hiccup? She asks carefully. I look into her eyes, which were pleading for me to tell her what was happening.
-It's about Eret... He told me this morning that he liked Y/N, and... I don't know, it's just been bugging me all day, I say confused. Astrids eyes open in shock.
-Wait... really? Astrid asks and she begins to smile.
-Yeah, why? I ask. Astrid is quiet before she bursts of excitement.
-Ok, so, Y/N told me yesterday that she really liked Eret and she didn't know what to do because she's never had these feelings for someone, Astrid says and laughs. I feel the last piece of the puzzle falling into place.
-How crazy is that? Astrid says. I only nod.
-What? This isn't exciting for you? Astrid asks me.
-Yes! Yes of course it is! But it's Y/N, and I can't have someone that just came here to go off and marry her, and you know how mad she gets with people that tells her that word, I say.
-I know Hiccup... But that's the thing! She's done so much for us, and I feel like it's our turn to do something for her, Astrid says and smiles.
-But what happens if he breaks her heart...? I ask.
-What do we do then? She's been the one to give us confidence to do something we really want to do. I can't loose her... I say sadly.
-Hiccup, were not gonna loose her. If he breaks her heart, I'll break his foot. She's a strong independent woman and she's done fine this far. If he breaks her heart, she's one experience wiser, Astrid says and I nod.
-Yeah, you're probably right... I say.
-Of course I am! Now listen, we need a plan to make this work! Astrid says happily.
-A plan? I ask and furrow my eyebrows at her.
-Yeah, to make them confess their love for each other, Astrid says and excitedly claps her hands.
-Since when did you become such a hopeless romantic? I tease. Astrid playfully glares at me.
-I can be one if I want to! She says and smirks. I chuckle.
-So about that plan? I ask. Astrid quickly answers:
