A/N - This Valentine's Day themed chapter is based on the lyrics to 'Amazed' by Lonestar. You have all inadvertently become my Valentine's this year, whether you like it or not. It's a short one, but I hope you all enjoy this chapter.
Sandor looked at his most peaceful when he was asleep. There was no scowl on his face, and all of the stress seemed to seep from his body, allowing his shoulders to release their tension. And Gods, you couldn't get enough of seeing him like this.
You hummed as you shifted up on an elbow to look down at him properly. He had always been a heavy sleeper, and even now, as you leant in to press a kiss to his collarbone, his breathing remained even. It was a test you had grown quite fond of. Sandor adored the way you would press gentle kisses to his skin and couldn't resist them usually. The only time you could get away with the sweet gesture without it turning into something a lot more sordid was when he was sleeping. And this time, it seemed you had gotten away with it.
He really was the most handsome man you had ever met. People had attempted to warn you away from him when you'd first met. They'd called him a brute and a bully, but you just couldn't see it. Of course, Sandor could be a little rough around the edges, and there was an anger in him that would have terrified you if it had ever been aimed at you. But he was also the kindest man you had ever met. There was a sweetness in him that he kept hidden away from those he didn't want to see it.
After you were married, he had told you that he had fallen in love with you from the first moment he had seen you. You were this air of strength around you that kept other men at bay, but which had drawn him in immediately. And you were, hands down, the most beautiful woman in King's Landing. He was sure of it. You amazed him. You'd chuckled when he'd told you. Even with you, he could be a little closed off, but he was working on it and this honesty was a step in the right direction.
A murmured grumble escaped Sandor's lips as he woke, drawing your eyes back to his as they fluttered open. "Morning," he hummed, his hand shifting to rest on your hip as a smile spread across his lips. He had always loved waking up like this. "You look real pretty right now," he added, his other hand lifting to brush your hair back over your shoulder, revealing more of your face to him.
A small snort of laughter escaped you as you leant down to press your lips to his. "You're sweet," you murmured against him as his grip on your hip tightened, pulling you down on top of him. He was wrapped around you without a seconds notice, holding you tight to his chest as he buried his face into your neck.
"Happy Valentine's Day, Baby," he uttered against your skin, his beard scraping at it and causing another chuckle to escape you.
You released a faux gasp as you wriggled out of his grasp just enough to sit up. "Is it Valentine's Day already? I didn't get you anything," you teased, watching as his smile only grew.
He released you fully, his hand coming up to cup your cheek ever so gently, his thumb running lightly over the skin. "You're the only gift I need, Angel."
