Mark felt bad.
The last weeks he was a really shitty friend towards Haechan.
He wanted to make up for this.
So he planned to spend their day off together. He wanted to make the day to a day full of fun and appreciation for the Full Sun Boy.
He planned to go to an amusement park.
They both wore a cap, a mask, and clothes, they would normally not wear, to not get recognized by a lot of people.
Mark wanted some privacy and alone time with his best friend.
And it worked really well.
The amount of peole, that recognized them, could be counted with one hand.
It was a good day.
But Haechan often found himself staring at Mark, when the older boy would tell him a funny story with a big smile on his face.
Haechan loved that smile. And the boy to who that smile belonged.
After some time, they found themselves again sitting in a roller coaster.
But this one made Haechan nervous. He didn't know, why he got so scared. Maybe because it is one of the fastest attractions in the park or because of the many loopings.
All he knew was that he started shaking slightly.
And then his breath hitched and his heart started beating faster.
But not because the roller coaster was about to start.
No.
It was because Mark had taken his hand and was holding it know.
"Don't be nervous", he whispered in the red hair's ear.
"I-I'm not", Haechan stuttered.
"Mhhh. Then why are you stuttering?", Mark teased. Not knowing, that he was the reason for Haechan's loss of words.
Mark laughed silently and Haechan tried to relax.
But it was really hard, when he still could feel Mark's warmth.
He was close. Too close.
Haechan wanted to run away, but he didn't even get the chance, when the roller coaster suddenly started moving.
Haechan only tightened his grip on Mark's hand, which made the latter chuckle, obviously amused by the younger's suffering.
Haechan didn't know how, but he survived the ride.
Survived holding Mark's hand for such a long time.
The loss of warmth, when Mark let go, almost made Haechan whine.
But he got enough self-control to not embarrass himself further.
They went to buy some HotDogs and ate them on a small bench.
An old couple came with their grandchildren to sit down, so Haechan and Mark scooted closer to each other.
The new people took so much space, that Haechan was almost sitting in Mark's lap.
Not that he would mind this, but it still made his cheeks flush.
Mark leaned closer and Haechan could feel Mark's breath close to his ear.
"Is that okay for you or should we find another bench?", he whispered.
Haechan turned his face to look at Mark.
What a mistake.
Their noses brushed and Haechan no longer felt Mark's breath on his ear but instead on his lips.
Haechan wanted to answer, but he found it really hard to find words in this moment.
So he shook his head, which led to nuzzling Mark's nose.
"Alright", Mark answered and then he was gone.
His attention was now on his HotDog again and Haechan felt like he could cry.
Why of all people did he had to fall in love with his best friend? Why? Why? Why?
The couple left together with their grandchildren.
Mark and Haechan already finished their HotDogs, but they wanted to wait a little bit on the bench, before they would go to another roller coaster.
Mark didn't know, what came over him, but he reached for Haechan's hand and started playing with the younger's fingers.
Haechan blushed, but he didn't tear his hand away.
Instead he relaxed and let Mark do, whatever Mark wanted to do.
"Do you think we will also be that happy one day?"
Haechan turned his face to Mark and looked confused. "What do you mean?"
"Finding someone, we grow old with. Taking our grandchildren to an amusement park, even though we are old, just because we are still happy together and have a great big family. Enjoying our life with our special one, even after all this years."
Mark didn't look at Haechan, but Haechan knew, Mark was referring to their talk, they had, when their were cuddling in this one special night.
The talk of never finding real and pure love.
Haechan hadn't an answer.
So he just whispered "I hope so", while squeezing Mark's hand.
He turned to look at the older, who looked back.
He smiled at Mark and Mark looked like he wanted to say something.
"Haechan, I-", but Mark's words were cut off by a loud thunder and sudden heavy rain, that fell down on the two boys, that were lost in each other's eyes just a second ago.
"Shit", Mark cursed and Haechan whined.
Their were soaking wet in less than a minute.
"Let's find shelter", Mark suggested.
The two young boys started running to find a place, which would protect them from the rain.
They found shelter close to an old shop that was in a corner of the park, far away from the roller coasters, only surrounded by food shops.
The shop was closed for the day, reasons unknown.
They didn't saw a single person, probably the most people found shelter more closer to the roller coasters or were eating in the food shops.
They were completely alone and when they stopped under the roof from the shop, they were out of breath.
They breathed heavily, laughing without a reason.
Haechan laughed so hard that he fell forward, stumbling into Mark's personal space.
"Sorry", he muttered, when he felt Mark's breath on his cheek.
Haechan didn't dare to look up, knowing that they were too close for his own good.
But Mark took Haechan's chin in his hand and lifted it up.
They lost themselves in each other's eyes and Haechan felt how Mark came closer.
It was like magnetism. It was like some unknown force brought them closer, inch by inch.
"Mark", Haechan whined and Mark tilted his head.
Their lips were almost touching, and Haechan held his breath.
He looked in Mark's eyes to see nothing but determination and affection.
Just as they were about to close the gap, they heard footsteps sprinting in their direction.
They were no longer alone.
Two guys were now standing next to them, also finding shelter under the roof.
They all looked at each other and muttered a "Hello", before the two other boys drifted their attention to each other.
"I told you it would rain today. But you still wanted to come here", the smaller one complained in a whining voice.
"I'm sorry", the other one said and took the smaller's cheeks in his hands.
"Can I make it better?"
The smaller nodded. "You know how."
And with that the taller leaned forward and pressed his lips against the forehead of the smaller.
The smaller whined, hoping the kiss would have landed on his lips instead.
"You know, we can't do that in public", the taller tried to whisper, but Mark and Haechan still heard them.
"I know", the smaller nodded and pouted.
"You are too cute for your own good", the taller said and lost his control.
He quickly pecked the smaller's lips and pressed their foreheads together.
Mark and Haechan couldn't believe what they just saw.
They were witnesses of a gay couple, showing affection to each other in public.
Something you rarely see in this country.
Mark was in shock. How was the taller brave enough to do this?
Haechan felt a pang in his heart.
He wished he could have that. This kind of love, where nothing else matters, but your special one.
But he could never have this. Especially not, when he was an idol. And especially not, when he was in love with Mark, his best friend.
Mark and Haechan and the gay couple waited silently till the rain was gone.
The two boys in love held hands, while Haechan and Mark had a good amount of distance between them, which made Haechan a tiny little bit pouting.
When the rain subsided, they went to a few other attractions, till the sun went down and they had to go home.
Back at home, the two boys were so exhausted that they decided to go directly to bed.
Everyone else was already sleeping or in their room.
They were alone in the living room, ready to say goodnight.
"Thanks for the great day, Hyung.", Haechan said.
Mark smiled. Haechan was happy at the end of the day, and that was exactly what he had intended.
But then Haechan quickly leaned over and pressed a kiss on Mark's cheek.
Mark's eyes went wide.
Haechan just kissed his cheek! And he let him!
Before Mark could say anything, Haechan was already in his room with a final "goodnight".
"Goodnight", Mark said into the silence, still trying to understand, why his heart was beating so fast.
