Y/N POV
Being a girl and a newsie leader is hard, especially being the leader of Queens. I was woken up by the sound of my boys yelling, so I climbed out of bed and fixed my hair before walking out of my room. All the boys are wide awake and running around like crazy. I pulled my pocket watch out of my pocket to check the time before walking over to my little brother.
"Heya Harry. How are you this fine morning?" I asked him
"Tired." Harry answered me
I laughed as I walked away.
"Alrighty boys, the sun is up the headline probably stinks so lets go sell some papes" I yelled
All the boys nodded before headed down to the paper center to get our papes, I followed after everyone left to make sure they all make it there safe and sound. As I ran with the boys my short (Like shoulder length) hair flew in the wind, its cold outside this morning but that doesn't stop us. When we got to the paper center I got my papes then headed off to my selling spot. My spot was on a cornor that many people walk by, my newsies don't sell there cause they know that it's my spot but I don't get mad if they do cause it is a good spot. When I got closer I noticed a boy at my spot but he isn't a Queen newsie.
"Who are you?" I asked when I got close enough to him
"None of your business girl, now why don't you go and do something" He said
"It is my business when you're on my turf" I snapped
I boy suddenly grabbed my arm and pulled me closer to him, I couldn't act scared not now.
"I don't know who you think you are but you don't talk to me that way girl" He spat
I kicked to boy and pinned him to the ground.
"No, you don't talk to me that way. No one treats the Queen the way you did. Now I am only going to ask you once. Who is your leader?" I spat and the boy
"Spot Conlon" The boy said while tearing up
"Good, now get off of my turf before I end you" I said while getting off of him
The boy got up and ran, when I was sure he was gone I picked up my papes and started to sell. After about an hour I finished, I looked at my arm when the boy had grabbed me and I saw a bruise forming.
"Just what I needed today" I mumbled
I headed back to the lodging house to find Bay, Bay is my second in command. Once I found him I explained what happened and that I was heading to Brookyln to talk to Spot. When I was done I started my walk to Brooklyn, it's not that far of a walk but it does take forever on foot. When I got to Brooklyn I noticed how different it was from Queens, I get a bad feeling from it. As I was walking to there lodging house someone grabbed my arm and yanked me, I looked to see the boy from earlier.
"You again, you're not so high and mighty now are you. You're in Brooklyn now" The boy whispered in my ear
I went to run but he grabbed my hair and yanked me back, he shoved me to the ground. He then got on top of me pinning me to the cold ground below. I have three choices right now either let this boy beat me up, scream, or try to fight back. I'm gonna choose fight. I pushed as hard as I could and the boy fell off of me. I took that chance to punch him as hard as I could, in the corner of my eye I saw another newsie walking this way. So I let the boy pin me to the ground again. When I new that the newsie I saw was close enough I let out a scream. And sure enough that other boy came running and he then saw me pinned to the ground. I took that chance to kick the boy who had me pinned when he was off of me I took the chance and ran. I ran towards the lodging house till I knew those boys couldn't hurt me. When I got to the lodging house I fixed my hair and close before walking in.
"Well if it ain't Queen" A voice said
"Spot" I mumbled
"What's the matter? Didn't ya miss me?" Spot said with a smirk
"I wanted to tell yous to keep your newsies out of Queens. I don't like it when your newsies are on my turf then attack me twice." I spat while walking closer to him
"Who was it?" Spot asked
"Ise don't know but I don't like it. I walked into Brooklyn to talk to you and I get yanked into an alley. Tell your newsies to stay away from me and my newsies." I snapped again
"You got it Queen. The fight would also explain why your all bloody" Spot said
"Bloody?" I said
I put my hands up to my lip and that's when I felt blood drip on to my fingers. I groaned as I was hit with sudden pain, I moved my hands from lip to my head.
"Are you okay" Spot asked me
"Yeah, i'm fine" I answered "I should be heading back to Queens"
I started to walk away when Spot grabbed my hand and pulled me towards him, I flinched as he did so.
"You might not want to admit it because you'll seem weak but you are not okay. Stay till we know you are okay because if you get into another fight you might not make it back to Queens." Spot whispered so that only I can hear
All I could do is nod my head, while still holding my hand Spot dragged me inside and up a small thing of stairs. He took me into a room that was away from the main room.
"This is my room, no one should bother you in here. Get some rest, I'll send a newsie to Queens to explain what happened and where you are. Now sleep" Spot said
I watched as Spot left the room, I've never seen this side of him. Most people say that Spot Conlon is a cold hearted person who cares for no one but himself but I have seen is caring side. With my brain still thinking I soon feel asleep.
Spot's POV
I walked out of my room to leave Y/N to sleep, she doesn't want to admit it but she is hurt. When I walked into the main room I looked around for Hats.
"Hats?" I said
"Yes Spot?" Hats said while walking into the room
"I need you to go to Queens and tell Queens boys that she's okay and will be staying with us for a bit" I said
Hats nodded then ran off to Queens, that's when I noticed Snakes was giving me looks and I noticed a few bruises on his face and arms. Could he be the newsie that attacked Y/N? No, he wouldn't do something like that. Snakes smirked at me then walked outside, thats strange but yet he is a strange newsie. I told Ace I was heading out and to watch Y/N, I grabbed a little bit of money before heading out to get some food. I walked around Brooklyn till I found a bakery. I walked in to buy some bread.
"Hello young man, what can I get you" The older man said
"Um. Some bread please" I answered him
The older man handed me and some bread and I payed him before heading back to the lodging house. When I got back I smiled slightly at Ace before going up to my room, when I got up to my room I saw Y/N still sleeping. I shook her awake and she was confused at frist but then sat up.
"I thought you would be hungry" I said
I handed Y/N some bread and I sat down at the foot of my bed and ate my bread. Y/n did the same, she looked tired or even stress.
"Thanks Spot, I should head back to Queens. Harry is gonna start worring about me" She said
"Who's Harry?" I asked
"Harry is my little brother" Y/N answered me
"Oh, if you wanna head home I won't stop you." I said
"Thanks Spot, I'm sure I will be back" She said
I nodded my head as she got up. Y/N reached into her pocket and tossed some coins at me before leaving.
Y/N POV
As I walked back to Queens I couldn't help but think about Spot. After a while I made it back to Queens. I walked into the lodging house to see some of my boys freaking out.
"What's going on?" I asked
"It's Harry. He went missing" Koby said
"What! I'm gone for a few hours and you lose my baby brother? Where was he before he went missing?" I yelled
"He went on a walk and he didn't come back" Spoon said
"Send newsies out to find him and alert the other burrows. If they see him they are to tell me. Someone must stay guard to make sure no one else disapears and no one is to leave the lodging house at night unless told to. Everyone must be back before dark till Harry is found." I ordered
I hate being like this but when something happens I have to. All the boys looked at me in pure shock with what I had just said but soon they all nodded there heads agreeing. Most of them headed out to tell other burrows and some went out to look for Harry. The reason why I'm so scared is because Harry is ten if he was older I would know he can handle himself. We have to find him, I can't lose him not like this. I picked up the nearest idem to I chucked it at the wall.
"crap" I mumbled
"Well looks like someone lost their baby brother" A voice said
I turned around to see that Brooklyn newsie.
"You! What did you do to my brother" I yelled while running at him
"Oh he's fine but if you want him back you have to let me take over Queens. You see once I found out you had a brother I knew it would be easy to take over Queens. I had no chance to get Brooklyn or Manhattan but with you being a girl I knew it would be easy I just had to find the right thing to break you" The boy said "Also my name is Snakes"
"Give me my brother." I yelled back
"Not until you give me Queens or he will be hurt" Snakes said
"Let me see him first" I spat
"Fine, follow me" Snakes said
I nodded my head and followed him, I followed Snakes to an old church that is no longer in use. When we got inside I saw him, Harry.
"Harry" I yelled while running towards him
When I got to Harry he looked so scared, I hugged Harry.
"I have a plan, I'm going to get you go. Run to Brooklyn, Spot will keep you safe don't worry about me stay there till I or another Queen newsie gets you." I said "Understood"
Harry nodded as I slowly untied him, I don't want Snakes to notice. When I finished I told Harry to stay put till I told him to run.
"Okay, you saw your brother now queens" Snakes said
"No" I said
"No? Oh, I see how it is. Well then" Snakes said
Snakes walked over to Harry but before he could get to close I ran at him and punched Snakes.
"Harry run"I yelled
Harry got up and ran leaving me here to fight.
Harry POV
I listened to my sister and ran to Brooklyn, when I got to there lodging house I noticed how scary all these boys are. One of them saw me and took me to Spot.
"Who are you?" Spot asked me
"Names Harry" I answered
"Harry? Oh, your sister is looking for you" Spot said
"No, she found me, she told me to come here. It's a long story but some newsie kidnapped me and was trying to use me to get Queens. Y/N told me to run so I did but she is still there." I explained
"Okay, we'll save her. Where is she?" He asked
"The old church in Queens" I said
"I'm gonna get some newsies you go to Queens and tell some of them to meet us there but be carful" Spot said
I nodded before running off.
Spot POV
I snagged a few newsies and then we headed to Queens when we got there I saw some Queen newsies.
"Show us the way" I said
We walked to the old church and when we got there we heard screaming. We snuck inside to see two bodys.
"Now listen you are going to give me Queens and I won't hurt you anymore" The person said
"Is that Snakes?" I whispered asked
"I will never give you Queens, I would rather die than give into you" Y/N spat
"Well that can be arranged" The boy said
"It is Snakes" fangs said
"He's dead" I spat
Snakes grabbed Y/N and he pushed her onto the ground, you can tell he's been beating her. She is weak, I watched as she laid there while he hit her. I went to help her but Fangs but pulled me back down.
"Wait" He whispered
Snakes pulled out a knife and slashed Y/N with it, she let out a loud scream and that's when we moved.
"Let her go Snakes" I yelled
Snakes looked up at us and frowned. Some of the newsies snuck behind him and they suddenly tackled him. I rushed over to Y/N while the boys took Snakes back to Queens lodging house to tie him up.
"Queen are you okay?" I asked
"No" She said while tearing up
I pulled her into my arms as she started to cry.
Y/N POV
I felt so weak crying but what else can I do, here I am sobbing as my newsies and Brooklyn newsies watched yet I've been through so much. Spot tightened his arms around me as I let out a small whimper, after a bit I had calmed down.
"Hey, calm down. No one is going to touch you or even think about trying to take Queens. My boys will make sure Snakes is taken care of" Spot said
I nodded as I hugged him back, Spot helped me up off of the floor I was once sitting on. I grabbed Spot's hand and I made sure I held it.
"Do you wanna stay the night at Brooklyn?" Harry asked me
"Why don't we make sure its okay with Spot" I said
"If you want to stay in Brooklyn you can, I'm pretty sure everyone can handle themself." Spot said
"Can I stay the night" I asked
"Of course Queen" Spot answered me
Spot and I walked towards Brooklyn with his newsies following close behind us. When we got to Brooklyn I went with Spot to his room, when we got inside Spot pulled me into a hug. I hugged back and smiled, this boy has a strange effect on me and I love it.
"I throught I was going to lost you today" He said
"You can't lose me that easile" I told him
Before I could say anything else Spot quickly pressed his lips onto mine, all I could feel were sparks. Spot pulled away from me and he had a huge smirk on his face.
"We are the king and queen of New York now" Spot said
"Now that is something I can agree with Mr.King" I said
A/N:
Okay, I don't want to be one of those people who talk about the Coronavirus but here I am. All I am going to say is be careful since I am a person with a weak immune system, and my town just got it's frist cases. It's a scary thing that is happening but all we can do is hurt for the best. I will still update since we don't have school, I have more time to work in this. If ya'll are bored give me an idea and a person. Any ways bye. :)
