spencers game was tonight and my mom was supposed to drop me off ten minutes before the game.

it was thirty minutes before and my mom just left, giving me a twenty to waste.

i went out into the rink, wearing my boot and a jersey spencer has given me a couple months ago, watching the figure skaters.

it was like i was looking at memories of all the stages in my life.

there was a little girl learning how to skate, reminding me of my toddler years. i remembered that first step i took out onto the ice, then i remember falling right after.

it was funny because i hated figure skating at first, but learned to love it as my skills progressed.

i saw a girl, maybe seven or eight, working on her jumps. that took me back to when i first met spencer.

it was a local hockey game for the younger kids, right after a figure skating competition i was entered in. i saw spencer by the boards as i skated, him watching in fascination.

we later met in real life and became best friends almost instantly. that never changed as we grew up, it honestly strengthened our friendship.

then i saw a teenage girl, a little older than me, doing her doubles.

i smiled at how clean and how high they got. she would be doing triples soon, if not already.

"moira williams. i never thought i would see you here, not on the ice." my old coach said, skating up to the door i was at.

"hi coach riley." i say with a smile, reaching in for a hug.

"i am so proud of you, even with a foot injury, you won the world title." she grinned, hugging me back.

"thanks coach riley. how's the star skaters around here?" i asked, nudging her to the teenagers working on their doubles.

"they're doing great, you wanna come out here and give them a few tips?" she asked with a grin.

"um, would they like that?" i asked and she shrugged.

"i mean, you're undefeated." she grinned, pulling me out onto the ice, even though i was in a boot and vans.

"guys, bring it in!" she called and all the skaters came over.

"look ice times ending, so everyone needs to get off." she told them and the youngest skaters raced over, giggling, to get their stuff and skate off.

there was one, left out from the girls, skating by herself.

i frowned and walked over, kneeling down by her stuff.

"hey, i saw you skating, you were really good. eye on the olympics one day?" i asked and she looked up, eyes widening.

"y-yes." she said nervously.

"you can do it, you just have to trust your self and your coaches." i tell her and she grins.

"if you ever need any help with anything, just ask coach riley and she'll send you my way." i say, making her give me a toothy smile.

"thank you." she whispers and i give her a hug.

"now go, the big scary hockey players are coming here soon." i tell her and she giggles, grabbing her stuff and rushing off the ice.

"moira!" riley calls, grabbing my attention, which was floating through space.

i wobbled over to where she was standing with a pairs team.

"hey, what's up?" i ask, grinning at the pair and riley.

"guys, can you show moira your double axels?" riley asks and the team nods, skating around and prepping for a double axel.

the two do almost flawless side by side double axels and i grin, applauding them.

"that was amazing." i tell them and both of them blush.

"any comments?" riley asked and i squinted.

i turned to the guy, "you were a little loose and had a little bit of a wrapped leg."

he nodded and i turned to the girl, "you need a little more height."

they turned to riley, who shrugged.

"this girl lands triple axels, i would go try again and apply her comments." she tells them and they nod, going for their doubles again.

i watch them and they both applied what i said and they were perfect.

they skated back over and i clapped.

"that was absolutely gorgeous. it takes a lot to be a pairs skater and i applaud you both for working this hard to be where you are now and not giving up on each other." i tell them and they both blush.

riley starts talking to them and i look at the two. it definitely seemed like they have chemistry.

just as i was about to open my mouth and ask them, the zamboni doors opened and we were forced to leave the ice.

i walked off the ice, holding a conversation with riley about my foot.

our conversation soon ended as she went to the locker rooms to get her skates off and change and i went into the lobby where i saw the same girl from before but she was surrounded by the girls that left her out.

"what are you guys doing to her?" i ask and the three girls turned to me and their eyes widened.

"no-nothing." they said, awestruck.

"then i suggest you apologize and leave her alone." i say sharply and the girls leave.

"hey, don't let them psych you out. those girls are the ones that can't focus on themselves and tear others down to feel better about themselves." i tell her, who looks ready to cry. i kneel down to her level.

"thank you miss moira." she sniffles and gives me a giant hug.

"of course, remember what i said. now it looks like your mom is here, so go with her." i told the girl and she grinned, waving by as she took her skates and went with her mom.

"you, my love, are the best human on this planet." spencer says, scaring me.

"spence!" i laugh and stand up, playfully hitting him.

"it's true!" he says, trying to defend himself, grabbing my hands and wrapping them around his neck, pulling me into a hug.

"ooo! knight has a girlfriend!" one of his teammates called, walking into the ice rink, making spencer sigh and break our hug.

"she's my best friend you ass!" he calls and turns back to me, where i was giggling.

"i'm going to go deal with him before he starts rumors. i love you and i'll see you after the game." he said, picking up his stuff.

"alright, love you too!" i said and started walking away.

before i could get far i heard, "moira!"

i turned and spencer called again, "i like the jersey on you."

he winked and i blushed, laughing nervously.

i walked to the concessions and bought a popcorn and a soda, then made my way to the stands.

before long, the game started, my best friend in net for his team.

during the first period, he stopped some amazing shots, but unfortunately let one shot in.

during the second period, i missed a goal as i went to refill my popcorn.

right before the third period, i could see spencer looking around and when his eyes fell on me, he winked and i laughed, shaking my head.

he was on fire during the third period, saving every shot on him.

in the end, they ended up losing, one to nothing.

i could see spencer mentally beating himself up as he got off the ice. i went over to the railing and when he walked by, i tapped his helmet, making him stop.

"hey, you did great, don't beat yourself up. i love you." i told him and he nodded, solem, but i could see the smile coming up underneath his mask.

"i love you more." he said, then went back to the locker room, making my jaw drop and laugh. he looked back and laughed at my expression.

i shook my head, smiling, and went to the lobby to wait for him.

"moira! my office!" riley called, making me giggle.

"hey riley." i said, walking in and sitting on a chair.

"you're good with kids right? want to come tomorrow morning and help coach with me? you don't need skates or anything, and i'll pay you." riley explained, making me nod.

"yeah i would love to, i just need to talk to my mom." i told her and she smiled.

"great, now go, lover boy's waiting for you." she grinned, shooing me out.

"he's my best friend!" i protested as she laughed and closed the door.

i rolled my eyes again and laughed, sitting back down on the bench i was at before.

"moi!" spencer called, dropping his gear down and picking me up, giving me a hug.

"spence!" i exclaim, and he puts me back down.

"come on, i'll drive you home." he says. i was sort of jealous of him because he was a couple months older than me and had a car and his license.

"what you said, that's new for you." i said absentmindedly.

"well it's true. i love you more than anything moi." he said as we walked out.

"you're just saying that because you get to travel with me sometimes." i laughed and he chuckled lightly before turning to me.

his blue eyes were serious, "no moira, i love you so much, much more than anything in this life."

i smiled at him. "i love you so so much spence."

we got to his car and he threw his stuff in, i got in the passenger seat and he got in.

"so, what's the consensus with the foot?" he asked.

"its broken in five places. i'm in the boot for three months." i tell him sadly.

"moira! that's not good!" he exclaims as we drive out and start our short drive back to our neighborhood.

"i know spence." i say and we're quiet for the rest of the ride.
