Chapter 19: Trouble Kid
YouTube can be a problem sometimes, especially when your brothers are the ones controlling it for you.
I can't post anything on their without their permission. I mean I'm 13 now, and I'm of age so I don't see what's the issue. Oh right it's because they don't trust me with the internet and they think I might say or do anything inappropriate. Well... I'll show them...
I uploaded a video and made the edit of it too, before uploading it to my channel. My brothers will never know right? How can they know, they're in Australia right now working on the documentary. (A/N: it's June now which means school is out).
School just got out last month (a/n: she gets out early) and Frankie was back home too, which I was extremely happy about because he graduates next year and he gets to be home all the time now! Well until he moves out of course, boy I wish I can go with him but mom and dad says I can't move out of the house until I'm legally 18, according to the social worker, because I'm still a minor at 13 and for the fact that I have a late birthday.
It's gonna be hell of a while before I get that freedom.
With the Boys:
The boys just got done with filming and decided to take a break. Nick got an alert on as phone as well as Kevin and Joe.
Joe: why are we getting the same alerts?
The boys shrugged and Nick looked confused.
Nick: did any of you two upload the video on Melissa's channel today?
Kevin: no not me
Joe: me either
Nick: ugh, she probably uploaded a video behind our back! Well will just see how you like this Melissa...
Nick went on his phone and went to the app to shut down Melissa's phone on her app. He shut down her YouTube, Instagram, Tik Tok and Snapchat.
Nick: I shut down all her apps, let's see if she can bypass this one. (a/n: you know those app that limits kids from phone usage, yeah that's what the app does)
Joe: if we know Melissa well enough, she can bypass anything. This isn't working guys, she still not learning her lesson about the internet
Kevin: we tried taking her phone, dad tried disciplining her and even this method not working. You think this is Melissa's way of acting up? Does she not like it here?
Nick: what kid doesn't like it here, every kid in America wants to be her right now. She should be thankful for everything we given her
Joe: maybe that's the problem Nick, we give her too much. If it wasn't for dad right now she would be in the foster home. Maybe she feels like we will abandon her. After her mom died, she barely said a word to us, she acted like we weren't here. She didn't even attend the funeral
Kevin: to be fair she was still too young
Joe: that's true
Nick: it's not our fault we aren't their for her all the time. She knows that being in the family you have to deal with our busy schedule. She never complained to us about how we aren't their for her all time, so why is she not saying now?
Kevin: uh... actually she complained to me about it a bit...
Joe: what did she say?
Kevin: she told me during winter break, that I barely see her anymore and she worried that our relationship has been drifting apart since we moved out and she's worried it might happened with me, you guys and Frankie when we all move out
Joe: she does know that she's family to us right? She sticking with us no matter what happens, she will always be family whether she moves out or not she will always have a place with us
Nick: why don't we do something next month as a family? We all hang out for Fourth of July and invite the whole family
Joe: that's sounds like a good idea
Kevin: I agree
The boys planned the 4th of July event. Then continued finishing the documentary in Australia.
Melissa's POV
Ughhhh he did this to me again!!!! I can't open any of the dumb app. Well I'll show him! I went on the app that Nick use to close my apps and access his password. Nick can be so dumb sometimes. *roll eyes*
I found out the password when he came to visit the other weekend to help Frankie moved in his things.
I opened my apps back without him realizing it. I just hope he doesn't have the apps that indicates that I opened them back up.
I was making Tik Tok videos when my brother Frankie walked into the room.
Melissa: Frankie! You ruined my shot!
Frankie: sorry, mom and dad wants you downstairs
Melissa: why?
Frankie: I don't know
Melissa: *thinks for a minute* oh shit! My report card!
Frankie: yikes have fun...
Melissa: Frankie stop, what do I tell mom and dad about my Spanish class. It's the only class I didn't do well on
Frankie: maybe try being honest with them helps
Melissa: but if I tell them what happened they will send me to my grandparents for the summer
Frankie: I'm sure they will understand
I sigh and said to my brother.
Melissa: well wish me some luck
Frankie nodded and the two of us headed out of my room together and I breaded down the stairs.
I found bought my parents and I said to them when I came down the stairs.
Melissa: you guys needs to speak with me?
Denise: hold on boys, yes your brothers, your father and I want to speak with you
Melissa: *sits down* if this is about my report card, I can explain!
Paul: don't worry we will get to that later, but that's not what this is about
Melissa: oh? Well, okay.
Mom turns the laptop around and I saw the boys on the webcam.
JB: hey Mel!
Melissa: hi boys, what's up? Did I do something?
Paul: why do you always assume you did something?
Melissa: because when the boys are being called on face time, it's must be something I have done. I hope it's not about the video I upload today?
Paul: what video?
Melissa: nothing! Uh... alright talk what's up?
Kevin: well... the guys and I were talking, and we decided as a family that we never spend time with each other. So all of us are spending 4th of July together
Melissa: okay... but don't we always spend time together around the holidays. What makes this so special?
Joe: well... since we will be busy soon with the Jonas Brothers coming back as a band, we will be worried about you
Melissa: *cross arm* and why would you guys be worried?
Nick: Kevin told us that you're worried about what would happened when you grow up and we won't need you anymore
Melissa: that's not the truth, Kevin is lying!
Kevin: hey I'm name many things in my life Melissa, but I'm not a liar
Melissa: there's nothing going on between us, I'm fine!
Joe: Melissa...
Melissa: no, Kevin, doesn't know what he's talking about, leave me alone!
Paul: hey little girl, don't talk to your brothers that way
Melissa: they're not my brothers and you're not my father! *runs out of the room*
Paul: alright, where's my belt?
Denise: Kevin....
Paul: right... sorry... *calms down*
Joe: something is seriously going on with Mel
Kevin: yea, she never talk to us that way before
Nick: maybe we shouldn't be pushing her about this, the more we pushed her about this, the more she resistant us even more
Kevin: alright Mr. Know it all, how do we fix this then?
Nick: I think the only way for us to fix this, is for her to come to us about it. It might take some time, but eventually she will
Kevin: and if she doesn't talk to us?
Nick: then she will talk to a therapist again
Denise: I'm gonna go check on Mel
The boys nodded and Denise kissed Kevin and told her everything will be alright and she headed upstairs.
They heard Denise scream upstairs and they all jumped and Paul.
Paul: Denise, what's wrong?
Denise: *comes down the stairs* Mel is gone...
Paul: what do you mean she's gone
Denise: she left her window open
Kevin: do you want us to come down their to help?
Paul: no boys, you go finish your documentary in Australia, will worry about Mel here
Nick: alright, if you need us call us
Joe: let us know when she comes home
Denise: we will boys, bye love you
Boys: bye mom
Kevin, Joe and Nick hung up and Frankie headed down the stairs and said.
Frankie: what's wrong? I heard mom scream?
Paul: your sister that's what's up, we think she ran away
Frankie: no she didn't
Paul: what do you mean no she didn't?
Frankie: I saw her leave, she told me not to say anything, but it looked like she was in hurry
Paul: Frankie! Why did you let her go?!
Frankie: she didn't take any clothes, so I know she's not running away
Paul: *thinks for a minute and sighs* I think I know where she is
Denise: you do?
Paul: yeah, I use to take her their all the time for one of her birthdays
Denise: alright, go check if she's their, I'll let the boys know she is okay
Paul nods and kissed his wife and hug his son thank him, before leaving his house.
With Melissa:
Melissa was at the diner called "The Amazing Grace" having a smoothie, when the owner walked over to her.
???: hello Melissa, by yourself today?
Melissa: yeah, my dad doesn't know I'm here. So could you not call him?
???: of course, he called tho and was looking for you
Melissa: did you tell him I was here?
???: I told him no
Melissa: thanks Grace
Grace: anytime Mel, enjoy your smoothie
Melissa: thanks Grace, your smoothies are amazing!
Grace: thank you sweetheart, it's been a while since you last came here
Melissa: yeah I know. I just been busy with school now, but now that it's summer vacation, I can come down here a lot
Grace: well that's wonderful, enjoy your time here while you're at it
Melissa: thanks *smiles*
Grace smiled before leaving and Melissa got a quarter out and put it in the juice box music and played an old tune music.
Just then Paul walked in, and saw his daughter drinking smoothie. He looked over at Grace and she pointed over at her, and he thanked her waving her off before sitting down next to her.
Paul: hey pumpkin
Melissa: ooo, I knew I shouldn't have trusted Grace *starts to leave*
Paul: Mel wait, please talk to me
Melissa: there's nothing to talk about
Paul: obviously something is, if you went to our diner without telling your mother and I where you're going
Melissa: am I in trouble?
Paul: no honey, I just want you to talk to me
Melissa: there's nothing to talk about!
Paul: alright fine... I won't push you, I'll let you talk when you're ready
Melissa: thank you
Melissa sipped on her drink as her dad watched and he called a waiter over and ask for a smoothie as well.
Paul: honey...
Melissa: yes?
Paul: I think it's time you know the truth about what happened to your mom
Melissa: you told me that my dad was the one that got her into drugs, that's why he was in jail
Paul: welll... yeah... part of the reason
Melissa: there's more?
Paul: your father killed your mother because she was using again and never paid for her drugs
Melissa: *already knew that but glad her dad finally told her* oh... why didn't you tell me that?
Paul: your mother didn't want me to tell you everything about your father's life
Melissa: well I can see now why she protected me from him, he didn't even want me to begin with. I'm just a mistake
Paul: hey, you're not a mistake. You may not have been planned, but you were a gift sent from above. Your mother wanted to get cleaned because of you, she changed her life just for you
Melissa: then why did she have to do drugs again?
Paul: I don't know pumpkin, but it had nothing to do with you. In fact, she loves you more than anything in the world. That why she made sure you were taken care of if anything happened to you. You would have been put in the foster care if she didn't care
Melissa: you would have got me if you knew about me right?
Paul: of course, because you're my little girl and you're a blessing to me. My life wouldn't be the same without you.
Melissa: thank you daddy *hugs him*
Paul: you're welcome pumpkin *hugs back*
Melissa: you know after the cancer scare last summer, I thought something was gonna happened to you. I thought I was gonna lose another person in my life. I was worried about what would happened to me if you were gone
Paul: hey you're gonna be taken care of, your mother and I put your brothers on the Will to look out for you in case anything happened to us. You're well taken care of, we love you so much baby girl, you're our family and you're stuck with us for life. Ain't nothing gonna change.
Melissa: *smiles* thank you daddy
Paul: of course, now let's finish our smoothie and head home
Melissa: okay. Dad, maybe the 4th of July party wouldn't be such a bad idea after all. I mean it's not the same, but at least I get to see the boys
Paul: what would make it better for you?
Melissa: I have an idea, Jonas Brothers are getting back as a band next year right?
Paul: yes, that is correct
Melissa: how about we make it a family tour! Everyone can tag along. That way we can see each other everyday!
Paul: that's a wonderful idea kiddo. I'll let your brothers in on the idea
Melissa: it will be just like old times, except the whole family will be on tour with us including extended family
Paul: I'll let your brothers in on the plan. Come on, let's finish the smoothie. I'll call your mother and let her know that everything okay
I nodded and slurp on my smoothie some more as dad called mom on the phone.
We paid and tip before saying goodbye to Grace and dad thanked her and headed out. When we made it home, mom gave me a huge hug and told me never scare us like that again. Frankie was their with her too and he hugged me.
Dad explained them what happened and Mom told me that she loves me no matter what, she told me that we were her family now and ain't nothing gonna change.
I smiled, and we called up my brothers and they were glad that I was okay, and I told them the plan and they loved it!
I was glad to have a family that cares for me. I don't know what I would do without the Jonas Family in my life.
