"What do you love about Minho?"
My best friend Paula stopped munching on her Swiss cheese Lays (that she literally just stole from my fridge but who cares, food is life) and gave me a look, setting her feet down on the carpet as she leaned back, pressing down on the throw pillows behind her.
"I don't know," she shrugged. "I just love him, and he loves me. I just hope he loves me more than your boyfriend."
(Y/N) giggled and sipped her chocolate milk, setting it down on the coffee table in front of her. "Maybe. I'm also hoping he wouldn't steal Jisung from me."
City life is a bustling life, no doubt. Morning alarms, cold coffee, hair sticking out of your bun, cereal everyday, school routines for students and prosaic office days, loud classmates and obnoxious workmates, late lunches, a yelling teacher and a stuck-up boss, homework, overtimes, and late dinners.
Yep, it's hectic.
So it was considered a blessing if we get to take a break every once in a while, even if it wad only a five-minute-but-well-deserved nap. It was considered a blessing if we get to slack around for a little moment before going to battle.
That battle, being our daily lives.
"But what about you?" Paula asks me. "What do you love about Jisung? What made you like him?"
"Hm..."
What did I love about Jisung?
His braces?
Nah, he got them removed a long time ago. If that was the only thing that I liked about him, way back in Malaysia, then it wouldn't be the same as today, now that he's been free of them.
His chubby cheeks?
There are many other men out there who has soft and fluffy cheeks. And although he looks like a squirrel, there are many other men who has chubby cheeks, some perhaps far more handsome than Jisung.
His body?
Don't get me started on this one. Everyone who knows him also knows about his amazing body. Those well-built shoulders, those arms, and those six bread rolls on his stomach—
Ahem.
His wit?
Sure, Jisung may be a musical prodigy and a modern-day Mozart in some people's lives, and I couldn't deny the fact that his brain is wired differently when it comes to notes and tunes, and that he was born musically-inclined. But, in terms of intellect, Jisung is...not smart. He was far from being a know-it-all, and ever since I met him, I have quite pictured him as a 'cute and dumb dork'. But there are some times that he's actually helpful with my homework, like that one full-length essay my professor had bombed down on the class. And bam, there I was with a shining A+.
His talent?
Yeah, I have always loved the way he sang, as he was gifted with an angelic voice and can probably harmonize with God. Ever since I heard that Hellevator demo of Stray Kids, sung by Jisung, I knew he was a man of talent. He also knew how to make his body move to the beat, to sway fluidly, to make sharp and accurate movements, to make his actions speak with the rhythm of the music. And his rap was something to be proud of, because ever since he, together with Chan and Changbin, started 3RACHA, he started to gain musical influence partly because of his good looks, but mainly because of his God-given talent.
And yes, you can compare him to that one vine preference while picturing God adding talent after talent after talent to Jisung.
I just hope that he won't gain the ability to speak and communicate with his fellow squirrels.
His humor?
Yes, I have to admit, at first I was drawn to him mainly because of his looks (I mean, who doesn't love a fluffy cheeked-man-child?), but the more I hung out with him, the more I learned about him. Jisung once told me that even though he might look stupid and say the most random words at random times, he just tries his best to make the people around him happy so that they will have little chance of experiencing what he went through in his past. His horrible puns, bad jokes and loud voice mixed altogethet can really make one laugh out loud.
And maybe that's what drew me to him.
His determination?
Sure, we humans have the tendency to give up at the sight of a complicated Math problem, or an extremely hard situation in life, but Jisung is one of the people I know who never give up easily. He's the type to work on something, give that certain thing his full and undivided attention, and finish it with satisfaction filling his senses. Just like one of those moments when he's off making songs for Stray Kids. He always focuses on the lyrics, every single word has to give off some sort of meaning that should reach out to STAYs and other listeners, the arrangements and tones should all be interlocked and coordinating well with each other, and other musical elements shall not fail—it was all in his insight.
"So?" Paula's voice broke me away from my thoughts. "What do you love about Jisung?"
I smiled, "I love him because Jisung is himself."
"Cliche," Paula cringed jokingly, "but really sweet."
I giggled, "If I only liked one thing about him, then I don't really love him. Because love is all about acceptance; be it a strength or weakness, or flaw or beauty."
And that was true.
I love Jisung, because he is Jisung.
And I wouldn't have it any way around.
