The pregnancy test was gripped in her hand, and (Y/N) almost dropped the stick from the violent shaking of her limbs. She was completely nervous on what may happen in these few moments, but the feeling was almost indescribable. Nerve-wracking and high blood pressure added, yes, but also exciting, joyful and special. It was an overwhelming experience, and she just hoped it was everything she had ever wanted.
She and her two-year boyfriend—now fiancé since the last two months—may be expecting an addition to the already forming family. Jeongin, on his break with the rest of Stray Kids, had taken her on this spectacular trip to Aruba, and he proposed to her right there on the beach during nighttime, in the middle of the location where they bathed in the moonlight and shining little diamonds in the obsidian night skies, bonfires and midnight waves lapping at the still alive seashore. It was so romantic and perfect, and she wanted nothing more than to spend infinity with him—the one she truly loved and cared for.
Although that vacation was amazing, the night he proposed to her, (Y/N) lost her virginity to Jeongin. Even though the two of them promised to wait until marriage—with Jeongin being an old-fashioned dude despite living in the millennial times—they couldn’t wait much longer. The planned marriage was set almost twelve months from that date, and two years plus almost one more is too long to wait.
The two of them loved each other deeply and craved to feel one another. On that night, Jeongin was hesitating on to whether or not use protection, but (Y/N) was the one who declined his offer. She was on the pill, so why use protection? Long story short, they shared a very steamy and intimate night, making sweet love to each other with no barriers, walls entirely crumbled down.
Just skin.
After that holiday trip, they parted ways. (Y/N) went back to their shared flat in Seoul, while Jeongin returned to the dorms with his hyungs. And ever since then, she started experiencing morning sickness, had weird cravings, mood swings for no reason, sudden increase in weight, and she missed her monthly menstrual cycle. At first she thought maybe it was food poisoning, or maybe it’s just pseudocyesis.
To confirm her suspicions, she headed for the pharmacy and bought three pregnancy tests, all trying them at once.
And all sticks showed her the same response—two pink lines—positive.
“How could this be possible?” she asked herself. “I was on birth control...h-how?”
Then she remembered that one day when she didn’t take her pills. She ran out of contraceptives!
Shit.
She was scared. Not that she was not thrilled about the idea of having kids with Jeongin, but she wanted to wait until marriage, and maybe that’s what Jeongin wants, too. The last thing she wanted was to get married with a huge stomach walking down the aisle in a too tight gown. Sure, she can wait until the delivery before the wedding day, but (Y/N) didn’t like the idea of having a baby without getting tied down to Jeongin first. And she doesn’t know how he would react if she tells him about the news.
This was terrible timing—just plain horrible.
But temptation and love took its toll over resistance. The two of them had sex, unprotected, and she may be pregnant.
(Y/N) threw two pregnancy tests into the trashcan and kept one, cleaning it with a wet wipe. She felt her stomach do somersaults—and it wasn’t because of the growing baby inside her.
“How is Jeongin going to react to this?” she asked herself once more. The two of them never thoroughly discussed the topic about having children, but deep down she knew he wanted to have kids of his own, too.
During her mini panic attack, (Y/N) heard the front door of her shared flat with Jeongin open. She quickly hid the test, shoving it in one of the pockets of her skinny jeans that were beginning to get tight around the waist.
I’m so fucking fucked.
“Babygirl?” Jeongin’s sweet voice rang through the quaint little house. (Y/N) pads out of the bathroom and headed into the master bedroom where she saw Jeongin getting inside. Her presence goes unnoticed until he digs into one of the top drawers of his dresser, turning to face her.
“Oh, you startled me,” he says. He grips his fresh pair of black sweatpants and white tee before walking up to her, giving her a light peck on the lips with a big smile on his face. (Y/N) managed to crack a smile, giving him a timid look.
Jeongin sensed that she wanted to say something to him, but he was sweaty and he smells, his body badly needing warm shower. He gave her another kiss on the lips before disappearing into the bathroom.
Once he was out of her sight, (Y/N) let out a breath she didn’t know she was holding. She heard the shower turn on, and she wandered off to her vanity, picking up a framed photo of her and Jeongin which Seungmin took on their first anniversary. They were at an amusement park, both feasting on cotton candy with a heart balloon being held in the male’s hands. They were happy, and what she had hoped for an eternity of joy shattered when she let her guard down and brought a new little human upon the two of them too early.
Shuffles were heard in the bathroom as Jeongin rummaged through the cabinets, taking his necessities and proceeding on brushing his teeth, washing his body and removing all the sweat that covered him whole. (Y/N) wanted to speed up time to tell him the truth, but Jeongin seemed to be taking longer than usual, as the tap kept running, perhaps filling the tub to the brim.
“Jeongin?” she called. “Are you alright?”
“Yeah!” he says, moving a few before going out of the bathroom, his pants hanging a bit too low on his waist, exposing his defined v-line. He was fine and shirtless, a wet towel around his neck while drips of water fell from his wet hair. He tucked something inside the back pocket of his sweatpants before looking at (Y/N), who was blushing madly at the slight show he gave her.
With this, Jeongin felt a bit confident and smirked, his hand moving up to brush his hair out of his eyes and expose his forehead. “What is it?” he teases her. “Dumbfounded by my good looks?”
(Y/N) kept silent. She knew that he knew it would make her laugh, but the thing that was bugging her since morning was no laughing matter. She just sat there like a frozen statue with an expressionless face.
“What’s the matter?” he walked up to her sat beside her on the bed, a finger caressing her cheek. “Your face looked like you saw something that scarred you. Did you catch your parents together watching Japanese porn again?”
If it were any other time, she would’ve laughed at that joke.
“Jeongin...” was all that left her mouth before gulping nervously. “I have to tell you something.”
The male beside her stiffened and his contagious smile faded a bit. He nodded slowly, his hand moving forward to touch her shoulder and massage the part lightly.
“Today I discovered some exciting news...” she says, “but I don’t know how you’ll take it.”
“We’re moving to Hawaii?” his eyes lit up in a joking manner, but all (Y/N) did was frown at him, silently telling him that she was serious and is not in the mood for merrymaking.
“Sorry,” he cleared his throat, bobbing his head for her to spill.
“I—”
Damn. Telling her new fiancé that she’s pregnant is a lot harder than it seems.
“You..?” Jeongin pressed further, wanting to know the details.
“Jeongin, remember that amazing night we spent in our suite after you proposed to me?”
That sent a smile to his face, “Yeah.”
“Well...” she trailed off, digging into her pocket to show the test. She moved her hands forward to give him the test, but instead of taking it, Jeongin took a white stick out of his pocket and showed it to her, making her gasp.
“W-Where did you get that?” she asks, shocked.
“From the trashcan in the bathroom,” Jeongin smiled softly. “So, is it real? Are you pregnant?”
Despite his warm smile, poking dimples and shining eyes, (Y/N) couldn’t help but grow worried, as she fought the temptation of biting her nails nervously, a habit she had adapted to whenever she feels uneasy about something.
“Yes,” she confirmed, and Jeongin dropped the pregnancy test. He stood up and scooped (Y/N) in his arms, spinning her around. She giggled, completely off guard with his reaction and change in mood.
“YOU’RE PREGNANT, OH GOD.” Jeongin exclaims happily, not bothering to bottle up his excitement. He put (Y/N) down and went to the window, pulling the beige curtains to the side and opening it. “WE’RE HAVING A BABY.” he yelled out loud.
“Hey, don’t be so noisy,” (Y/N) laughed at his actions as she pulled him away from the window.
Jeongin beamed at her, his hair falling to his eyes. “Oh my gosh, we’re going to be parents now.”
“You’re happy?” she asked with hope, her hands reaching out to hold his larger ones. “I was hoping we would wait until after marriage...I don’t really like the idea of walking down the aisle with a baby bump. I’ll look fat.”
“Of course I’m happy,” Jeongin smiles, now seemingly collected, but his eyes showed otherwise. He wanted to scream and shout out of joy, wanting to let the whole world know that the person who was once babied by all is now having a little human of his own. “And yes, that was the plan, but who cares? This is our son our daughter we are talking about. It will be great, I promise. And don’t worry, we’ll move the date. You won’t show too much during the wedding.”
“You’re happy,” she reassured herself, “you’re happy.”
“Why?” Jeongin asked. “Are you not?”
“Of course I’m happy, this is our baby,” she breathed. “I was just worried of how you would take it.”
Jeongin smiled and gathered her in his arms, placing his chin on her head as he let (Y/N) snuggle to his chest. “I love you so much,” he kissed her hair repeatedly, his hands caressing her back. “I love you, and this baby. No matter what, and that is all that matters, right?”
Her heart was overwhelmed with joy and happiness. He was right. So very right.
“Right.”
