Your POV.
It's time.
Time for the tributes to be chosen from District 12 for the Hunger games.
Basically it's where they get 2 tributes from every district. Mine being the last.
Then they all put us an an arena and we basically survive. It's either kill or be killed in there.
I was standing with my sister y/s/n.
She just turned 12 a few months ago and now she was old enough to be chosen for the games.
We were standing amongst the crowd where everyone was waiting to see who would be chosen.
There on the stage with huge hair, heavily applied makeup, and very pink and puffy clothing stood Effie Trinket.
She was always the one who would pick a name randomly from the big bowl in the middle of the stage.
She did the whole announcement thing and now it was on to the tributes.
She picks a name out and reads it.
"Y/s/n Y/l/n." She says
My eyes widen.
She stars walking slowly.
She got to the pathway and the guards stood next to her. She looked terrified.
"Y/s/n! Y/s/n!" I exclaim
The other guards kept holding me back.
Then a thought popped into my head.
It was the only thing I could do.
"I volunteer as tribute!" I exclaim
Everyone's silent and the guards stop walking and so does Y/s/n.
Effie looks at me.
"I believe we have a volunteer." She says
They let go of Y/s/n and she runs to me.
"You need to get out of here." I say placeing my hands on her shoulders.
"No! No!"she says
"You go find mom. You have to find her." I say
"No!" She says repeatedly.
"You have to go find her. I'm so sorry." I say
After hugging her I say,
"I'm so sorry."
Then my friend Gale picks her up.
She keeps screaming no.
But then the guards grabbed my arms and started leading me up to the stage.
"Well well, we have District 12's very first volunteer." She says
The guards stop at the bottom of the stairs and start walking the other way.
I was left at the bottom of the stairs.
"Come on dear." Effie says motioning to me.
I start slowly walking up the stairs.
"Hurry up dear." She says
Once I was up there she grabbed me by the shoulders and led me to stand right next to her.
She grabs the mic.
"What's your name?" She asks
"Y/n Y/l/n." I say
"Well I bet my hat that girl was your sister?" She asks
"Yes." I say
"Let's have a big hand for our very first volunteer Y/n Y/l/n." She says and claps
No one clapped with her.
And then slowly, everyone raised their left hand to their mouths and placed 3 fingers to their mouths.
Then they lift them up towards me.
That's a gesture usually used in funerals, quite a rare occasion though.
We were all silent for a minute until Effie spoke up.
"And now for the boys." She says smiling.
She head over to the bowl and picks out a name.
"Tom Holland." She says
Everyone looks at Tom and he looks around.
Then he was taken up here by the guards.
He walks up the stairs and stand on the other side of Effie.
"Here we are, the tributes from District 12!" She says
We were silent.
"Well, come on you two shake hands." She says looking at us.
I look at Tom and remember the time I was sitting in the rain.
He threw a loaf of bread towards me.
We meet in the middle and shake hands.
"Happy Hunger games! And May the odds be ever in your favor." She says
She leads us into the building, she leads me to a room and I see Y/s/n and Mom.
Y/s/n was the first to walk up to me.
She hugs me and I hug her back tightly.
Then when she lets go I crouch down to her level.
"Just try to win please. Maybe you can. I want you to come back." She says
"Maybe I can, of course, I am smart you know." I say playing with her braids
"You can hunt." She says
"Mmhm. Exactly." I say
Then she looks down at her hands and hands me a pun.
"To protect you." She says and hands it to me.
"Thank you." I say and kiss her forehead.
The hug her again.
Then I look at mom and walk up to her.
"Mom. You can't tune out again." I say
"I won't." She says quietly shaking her head.
"No. You can't Mom. Not like when dad died. I will not be there anymore, you are all Y/s/n has, you have to mom, you have to be there for her you understand?" I ask
She nods.
"Mom, please don't cry" I say
Then I hug her.
"Don't cry please." I say
She hugs me back.
Then someone bursts in.
It's a guard.
Y/s/n runs to me and hugs me tightly.
I wrap an arm around her shoulder the other around mom.
"Y/s/n its ok, y/s/n its ok, its ok." I say
They pull her away from me and she screams.
"No!" She screams
"I promise." I say
I walk up to the door and slowly open it.
Then in walked Gale.
He hugs me tightly and let's the door close behind him.
"I'm fine, I really am." I say
He pulls away and places his hands on my shoulders.
"Listen to me Y/n, you're one of the strongest people I know, you're stronger then they are. Get a bow and some knives." He says
"They may not have-." I starts
"They will if you show them how good you are!" He says
"All they want is a good show, that's all they want Y/n. If they don't have a bow you can make one you know how to." He says
"Animals." I say
"It's no different Y/n, it really isn't." He says
"Gale. There's 24 of us only one comes out of that arena." I say
"Yeah. And that's gonna be you." He says
The door opens.
"Ok. Let's go." A guard says
"Take cafe of them Gale, whatever you do don't let them starve." I say hugging him.
"I'll see you soon." He says then was dragged it the door.
It was shut loudly.
I just stood there.
Then someone walked in and led my to the speed rail.
Tom was already in there, so I just sat across fr him.
Here we go.
This has been here for a while ;-;.
I didn't check when was the last time I touched this chapter but right now it's October 28th.
So I will continue this series in my 2nd book of imagines hopefully. (Someone remind me if I forget pls).
