Today there was going to be a ball for the Kingdom.
It was for my best friend. He had to find a wife.
His father and mother said it had to be a princess.
But the ball was open to anyone in the Kingdom.
Even though I was a maid in the castle. We were inseparable when we were little kids.
But there wasn't really a chance that Tom would pick me. He only sees me as a friend and nothing more.
But I'm not gonna lie when I say that when he gets married it's gonna hurt me.
I have a huge crush on him and like I said, he would never like me back that way.
He likes me as a friend.
Nevertheless he invited me because I was his best friend.
So here I was in my dress, hair done and makeup done.

I look at myself in the mirror.
Then someone knocks on the door.
"Come in." I say turning around
In pops Tom's head.
"Hey, you re-." Tom starts.
Then he looks at me.
"What?" I ask rubbing my arm.
"Y-you look beautiful." He says
"Thanks. You look handsome." I say smiling softly.
"Thank you." He says blushing
Wait. Blushing?
"Are you ready to go?" He asks
"Yeah, I'll meet you there." I say
He smiles and walks away.
My phone starts buzzing and I check my phone.
It was my friend Zendaya.
I smile and answer.
"Hey girl!" She says
"Hey Zen!" I reply
"You ready for tonight? For all we know he's gonna pick you." She says
"No, he's my best friend. He wouldn't like me in that way." I say
"You never know girl." She says
"Maybe he'll pick you!" I say
"No, he might pick Laura though." She says
"Maybe, it all depends on Tom." I say
"Yeah, Hey I gotta go. I will see you at the ball!" She says
"See ya." I say and end the call.
I walk out of my room and head towards the ballroom.
The guards open the door and I stand at the top of the stairs. Everyone looks at me as I curtsy and I walk down the stairs slowly so I don't trip.
I get down the stairs and everyone goes back to their conversations.
Tom walks up to me.
"Hey." He says
"Hi." I reply.
"I know I already said this but...you look beautiful." He says
"Thank you. Not so bad yourself Holland." I say giggling.
My favorite song from Enchanted started playing.
Tom holds out his hand.
"Would you like to dance?" He asks
"Sure." I ay and put my hand in his.

We were in the middle of the dance floor swaying slowly.

Tom twirls me slowly. Then places his hand back on my waist holding my hand with the other.

I think about how he has to get married. And it's probably not gonna be me. But we'll still be friends no matter what. He hold me close to his chest.

Tom smiles at me and I smile back at him.
We've grown up together and eventually I grew feelings for him. I could say a love him. Because I really do.
"Hey you ok?" He asks
"I'm fine." I say smiling softly.
Oh how could I face the faceless days
If I should lose you now
He frowns slightly.
"Y/n I have to tell you something."
We're so close to reaching

Tom twirls me one last time before the song ended. He was still holding me close to him.
"Can I talk to you in private?" He asks
"Sure" I say and I follow him to the library.
"Y/n...I..." He starts
I just look at him curiously.
"I love you." He says
"M-me?" I ask
"Y-Yeah. I always have. I just never admitted it." He says
"But T-Tom...you have to marry a princess..." I say
"I don't care if I have to marry royalty! I love you." He says
"Tom, I love you too...but what about your parents the kingdom? They wouldn't want some random girl." I say
"You're not a random girl. You're my best friend and the person I love. And if being with you means giving up the throne...so be it." He says
I stare into his eyes and he's staring into mine.
We slowly lean in and then our lips crash into one another.
He tastes like peppermint.
I play with the hair at the make of his neck and he places his hand in the small of my back and his other hand on my cheek.
We pull away.
"Tom..." I say
"Yeah?" He asks
"I love you...but what about the kingdom? They need you." I say
"Let Sam and Harry fight over the throne. As long as I'm with you, I'm fine." He says
I smile at him and peck his lips.
"Ok." I say softly.
When we get back to the ballroom The King approaches us.
"I'm guessing you're together now?" He asks
"Yes father. And if you try to rip us apart... you can keep on trying. Were never going to separate." Tom says
I hold onto his arm and look at the King.
To our surprise he smiles.
"You can marry her. She's a nice girl." The King says
"Really?" Tom asks eyes lighting up.
"Yes. Just...Y/n take care of Tom. He can be a handful." The king says
"Of course your majesty." I say
"You can call me Dom. Now that you're my future daughter in law." He says smiling.
"Ok...Dom." I say
Then like that the ball was over.
I saw a bunch of princesses and princes who were mad that they didn't get chosen, some were crying, and some just didn't care.
Tom and I were now walking in the garden of the castle hand in hand.
"I'm so glad he let us be together." I say
"Me too." Tom replies
"I love you Tom." I say
"I love you too Y/n." He replies
