-Y/N's POV-
"You must be excited, huh?" I was conversing with D/N as I wasn't really needed at the moment.
"Of course, for once you're actually useful." he sighed,
I looked at his bored face, my eyebrows knitting together in confusion, "What the hell is that supposed to mean?"
"It means your life is so damn boring." he deadpanned,
"Once this battle is over I'm getting rid of you." I muttered giving him a look,
He just chuckled,
"You should be thankful I chose you as my weapon, otherwise you'd still be in that depressing hole I picked you from." I continued to inflate my own ego,
"Oh please, you had no other choice because the rest of the gear were close range weapons." D/N snorted,
"I'll have you know I am also extensively trained in close-range combat, I could've picked any weapon I pleased and not even glanced twice at you."
D/N knew he was grinding my gears and still pursued with his verbal assault, "Oh really, so why did you pick me then?"
"Well you see...erm...I just thought your exterior looked pretty cool." I said my eye twitching in aggravation,
"Don't all the weapons have the same exterior?" He looked at me with half lidded eyes a smirk playing on his lips,
"No."
"They do."
"You suck."
"Not as bad as your swordsman skills."
"I swear, even if you're a kid I will beat your ass."
"Oh, so you're a child abuser too?"
My mouth widened in astonishment, I was about to yell but no sound came out,
"Haha, Y/N you should see your face,"
"Don't pull that ever again, I swear you've existed before I was born."
"I'm probably going to exist after your dead too, so not long..."
"OI-"
D/N was laughing so hard, his arm holding his stomach, I glared at him,
"I'm actually going to leave you in a ditch." I muttered to myself,
D/N's laughter died down and he wiped the tears from his eyes, "Ah, thank you for the meal, Y/N"
"Huh?"
"You must've forgotten I feed off such emotions, anger being one of them."
"My God, D/N, we're about to go into battle, you're going to be fed the most you have been in years."
"Exactly, but you still need to make up for that time you starved me, Y/N" he looked at me with innocent eyes,
"Go choke." I spat,
"Ah, Y/N how cruel."
I was back in reality, still agitated about D/N's relentless teasing. I lifted my head off the wooden desk to find Shinya sitting opposite me, when we made eye contact he tilted his head to the side, in slight awe.
"Shut it, Hiragi." I snapped,
"At least let me say something first."
"N-"
"You're a mess."
"God..." I walked into his bathroom, realising I was in his office and fixed my image before walking back out, I stopped to find Shinya staring in my direction. His expression was completely innocent to those who didn't know him, but it screamed he was about to piss you off.
I returned the stare waiting for whatever nonsense he was about to spew.
"Hm, if I hadn't known you were with your demon I would've thought you were having a spasm. Seriously, who twitches that much in their sleep?"
"Shinya." I gave him a look which said, 'Don't even try it.'
"Really? So that demon took all the fun? Fine I'll give you 5 minutes." He sighed
"10!" I half pleaded, half demanded,
He looked at me, "Fine."
There was a brief silence between us before he started talking again,
"So..." he began,
"Yes?"
"How's Guren?"
"You said 10 minutes," I whined,
"Oh, please you're even lucky you got a minute."
I growled, "My God, there is nothing going on between us."
"Lies~"
"Give me a break Shinya." I sighed,
"Haha!"
"Don't you have someone you're interested in?"
"Hmm? Why do you ask?" Shinya asked thoughtfully,
"So I can make fun of you."
"How cruel!~"
"Anyway do you?" I tilted my head to the side,
"Well...there was someone."
"Was?"
He sighed, "I was engaged to Mahiru."
I nearly choked, "Engaged?! Shinya you both come from the same family!"
"I'm adopted, Y/N." He laughed,
"Still!" I sighed, shaking my head, "Never mind...so, were you two in love?"
Shinya sorted, "Of course not, Y/N,"
"Then why?"
"I was selected by the Hiragis to continue the bloodline. If anyone was in love it was Mahiru and Guren."
I felt a pang of jealousy in my chest but made sure not to let it show, "Mahiru and Guren?"
"They were childhood sweethearts."
"Oh really," I raised my eyebrows.
"Why, jealous?"
I laughed obnoxiously, "Sorry, should I be?"
"Aren't you afraid of the competition?"
"What competition? Mahiru is dead."
"That was your best friend, you know. Besides, she's the demon in Guren's sword."
"And what exactly could she do in his sword?"
"Beyond me." Shinya shrugged,
"What's your point?"
"Yeah, what is your point Shinya?" I grimaced at the new voice but Shinya didn't even flinch,
"Don't you have a war?" Shinya turned around and grinned,
"Besides the point."
"Seriously, though did something happen?"
"No vampire activity, however we're still on standby." Guren slumped on Shinya's couch,
"Why was the war said to be today?" I asked,
"Either the Hiragis are tripping or its intel about the vampires."
"This is bullshit." Shinya jeered,
"You telling my story as if it's your own is bullshit." Guren shot back,
"Oh, don't act so victimised, Guren. After all, you've had your fair share of Y/N's stories."
"Excuse me?" I whipped my head to look at Guren, but he acted as if he hadn't heard a word,
"I never asked for them." he said scratching his head,
"Oh, I just thought you'd both be interested." he countered, his smirk widening at the glares he was recieving,
"Anyway, since there is no war that means I have nothing to do." I pouted,
"Y/N, you never told me why your demon made you mad." Shinya reminded me,
"I wasn't planning to."
"You were talking to your demon?" Guren asked,
"Yes, but he bullies me as much as you two do."
"Bullies..." Guren echoed in false disbelief, while Shinya laughs,
"It's only because we love you, Y/N" Shinya said pinching my cheeks,
I looked up and glared at him and his hands instantly fell to his sides, but he continued smiling.
"Anyway, D/N was clowning my abilities" I sighed,
"What abilities?" Guren asked,
"Is that an insult or a question?" I shot him a questioning glance,
"A question, obviously." He put his hands up as if to surrender,
"I can never tell with you two. Anyway he was making fun of my sword fighting abilities." I sighed,
Guren snorted, "Well if it's not true why are you mad?"
"I have every right to be mad at this unfair slander!"
Shinya burst out laughing,
"Fine." I said exasperated, "I challenge one of you to a duel."
This only seemed to make Shinya laugh harder, "Y/N..please-" he coughed clutching his stomach, "are you sure?"
"I would shut it if I were you, I've already beaten you once."
"Not in sword fighting though." Shinya wheezed, finally calming down,
I ignored him, "So Guren?" I turned to him and he stared blankly at me before responding,
"If you insist..." his response lacked enthusiasm which irked me,
"I think you're underestimating me." I said returning his stare,
"Of course not, I could never defeat the gr-"
"Ah, Guren is going to do that thing where he doesn't fight properly and pretends to lose." Shinya sighed,
"He better not!" I glanced at him,
Guren sighed, "Very well." he stood up and stretched, "Don't cry if you lose"
I snorted, "I won't lose." I said crossing my arms,
He just smiled at me.

I sighed as my eyes slowly trailed down to the blade a few inches from my neck.
"I win," Guren said lowly his breath tickling my ear,
"Wah, what a shame, can you move your sword now?" I asked with a sweet voice,
Guren's blade dropped as we both heard clapping from the other side of the dojo,
"Y/N maybe your demon was right." Shinya approached us,
"Do you really want to provoke me while I'm armed?" I frowned at him,
"Seriously though, you're not bad, but it's obvious you haven't used a sword in a long time." Guren chipped in,
"Train me." I said out of the blue, Guren looked at me with confusion written all over his face,
"Don't you have a weapon?"
"I'm disowning him." I crossed my arms,
"You see Y/N had a fight with her demon..." Shinya explained,
"It wasn't a fight...he's just a bully." I pouted,
Guren laughed, "I'll train you but you can't replace your demon."
"Of course I ca-"
"Y/N."
"...Ok fine."
"Good, Let's start now." He said getting into a fighting stance,
"Now?!" My eyes widened, "excuse me, sir but we just fought." I put my hands on my hips,
"You don't get breaks on the battlefie-"
"Oh, don't give me that! Besides I'm not actually a sword fighter or whatever."
"Then I guess there's no use in this training..." Guren sheathed his sword and began walking out the door,
Shinya looked at him and then at me, amusement clearly evident in his expression as he waited to observe my next move,
I groaned, "Fine, fine. Let's start."
"Oh, I knew you'd come through Y/N!" Guren faked happiness,
Shinya chuckled, "I'm going to see what's going on, you two don't have too much fun." He began walking out,
"I will impale you with this sword if you don't shut it." I looked at him but he just laughed.
"I hope you're prepared for this, it won't be easy, Y/N."

I'm sure most of you guys have noticed that I've been absent for longer than usual; the reason for that is because I broke my phone and wasn't able to get it fixed for at least 2 months. 😭
But I'm back now, and I have been updating the story on my computer, although my phone is what I'm used to editing with, so now that I got my phone fixed here is the new chapter!
While I was gone I have been on wattpad and I have seen that this book has hit 3K reads and over 100 votes!! OMG, y'all don't understand how happy this made me, Thank you so much!
