Liam's P.O.V
"Hey Raines?" The bell just rung and we are heading to lunch.
"Hmm?" She looks at me as she's putting her back pack around her shoulder.
"Want to eat lunch with me and my friends?" I could tell I've been talking to her a lot more than she's used to. I don't know why. She's very pretty, she's smart, and she seems nice, but I did just meet her, so I can't judge on how nice she was. But judging by what I've seen so far, she seems really sweet, just very, very shy.
I watch her small, frozen frame look at me in shock. I suddenly feel bad, I don't want her to feel pressured to sit with a bunch of people she doesn't know. "If it will make you uncomfortable then you don't have-"
"Oh, I'd love too. I mean it's just no one has ever asked that before," She blushes and shies away, packing up her things.
"OK, well c'mon, we can walk together." She nods and grabs her books. We are the last to leave. We drop our books off at our lockers. They were a good distance apart, but we wait for each other when we get to our lockers.
I couldn't help but worry what my friends would do when they saw I invited her to lunch with us. I don't think they thought I would take it this far...
Raines P.O.V
Oh. My. Freaking. God. I'm going to lunch with Liam. And his friends. I keep wondering why the hell would he invite me to lunch, why he would want to sit next to me, why he told me I was pretty. I'm so very confused. It's so weird. I'm not used to it. No one has ever done this before, any of it. I'm constantly bullied. I've never been bullied by Liam and his friends though. I mean I have classes with them all; for example I had music and English with Liam. I had music and Geography with Louis Tomlinson and Harry Styles, and I only know their full names because they're both very loud and the teacher yells at them a lot. Louis has layered brown hair with blue eyes. Harry has curly brown hair with green eyes. The curly hair was definitely a striking feature. I had have music and Science with Zayn....Malik. Yeah that's his name. He has olive skin and black hair with hazel eyes. He's very mysterious. They're all very cute, I must admit. But surprisingly, they're never mean to me. Some of the only people at this school that aren't.
I see people staring at me, Raines Tyler, walking with Liam Payne. I heard whispers. I guess I'm not the only one who's wondering why I'm making friends.
"Don't listen to them. Or pay attention to them," Liam whispers in my ear. I nod and he smiles at me. Why is he being so nice to me? I'll have to ask him later.
Before I know it I was walking in the lunch room with Liam at my side. Neither of us had planned on eating the school food. Liam brought his lunch, and I'm just not going to eat.
"Raines? How come I've never seen you in the lunch room?" Liam turns to me and asks.
"I usually just find a corner outside, and read. I don't come in here, because I get bullied too often. I don't want to listen to them, so I avoid them as much as I possibly can."
"I mean I used to get bullied too, so I understand why you wouldn't want to come in here."
I look up at Liam to see him wave at someone. I look in the direction of which he waved. There was the crew. They share confused looks, but otherwise didn't seem bothered by the fact that I'm going to sit with him. Once Liam and I stop at the table, they fist-bump and high five each others.
"Guys this is Raines. We have music with her." I smile and wave shyly. They all wave back. OK, I'm a nervous wreck. What do they think of me? I'll just pretend I'm not nervous. Liam goes and sits down next to Harry, in front of Louis. Zayn is beside Louis. I sit beside Liam. I look away as I listen to the boy's chit-chat about stuff before they turn to me.
"So, tell us about yourself Raines." I look to see who had spoke; and I realize that it's Harry. He has a cheeky grin on his face. I mentally roll my eyes. He's a flirt. But a cute one, so I don't blame him.
"Well....uhm.... I don't know what to say." I cross my arms over my chest and look at all of them nervously.
"Well, what do you like to do on your spare time?" Harry asks.
Should I tell them about my nerdy-movie marathons on weekends? Nah.
"Well, I sing and I can play a little guitar and piano," I say finally, shrugging my shoulders.
"That's cool," Harry replies, nodding his head with approval, sharing a look with the other guys.
"I guess...." I look away, not quite sure what to say next. No way I'll be spend more than one day with these guys. I'm too awkward.
"I play the guitar," Liam tells me.
"I play piano," Louis says. Wow, I actually had something in common with the boys.
"Do you play an instrument?" I asked looking at Harry. He looks away and blushes.
"Tell her Harry!" Louis urges, elbowing him playfully.
"Go on. Tell her," Liam follows. Zayn pokes him repeatedly on the arm, Harry slaps him. Harry crosses his arms and buries his head in his arms. Now all we can see is his curly hair. I hear him say something but it was too muffled to understand.
"What?" I ask. Harry lifts his head up.
"I play the kazoo," He mutters, burying his head back into his arms. I snort accidentally.
"I play the triangle!" Zayn whispers to me, and I can't help but laugh.
"OK, let's move on!" Liam suggests.
"Let's!" Harry looks relieved.
"So, can you sing Raines?" Liam asks me, curiosity all over his face.
"I don't know, kind of?. I mean at home, I sing The Script and N'Sync but I don't sing in front of people. It's just a random hobby, I guess."
"Well of course now we want to hear you sing!" Louis shouts.
"Well I'm sorry to let you down," I say jokingly, smiling just a tad.
"C'mon Raines!" I shake my head. They all pout in response to my denial. It was hard to say no to these boys, looking into their gorgeous eyes. But I was very hard-headed, so I was somehow able to manage it.
"Nope," I popped the 'p'. They grunt and roll their eyes. I can't help but smirk. These boys are bringing out a different side of me. I side that I didn't even know I had. They're just so friendly and I haven't experienced that in so long. People can be so cruel, I'm not used to this kindness.
"So tell me about yourselves," I say, looking at the four boys, deciding it's now my turn to ask some questions.
"Like what?" Liam asks me.
"Favorite song?" I decide to ask.
"Breakeven by The Script," Liam says after a minute of thinking about his answer.
"You listen to The Script?" I look at him, in shock.
"Yes. They are my favorite band," He openly admits to me.
"Mine too!" I say excitedly.
"Well you two seem to have a lot in common!" Zayn points out. I blush, looking away yet again. I still have that shyness in me that I've always had. But I figure I'll always have it in me.
We end up exchanging numbers.....surprisingly. I'm in shock, but I'm still completely ecstatic when the guys ask me for my number right before lunch was going to end. I have Geography next, which means I could walk to class with Louis and Harry. At least I'll have a class with someone I know the rest of the day. After Geography I have Science, which means a class with Zayn. Then Maths..... Oh crap. None of the boys were in that class. Oh my god. Something bad is bound to happen. But if I hurry to Music after Maths then no one will get a chance to bully me. And if they try to bully me in Music, I'm sure Liam, Louis, Harry, and Zayn will do something...hopefully.
