"It feels so good to get out of there!" Memory girl opened her arms when we got out the lost hotel and removed her wig "it's always such a drag to be in that nasty place. It's not proper for someone of my class" I walked pass her, sweat dropping. When she talks like that, she's so full of herself. I'm sure it's because she's rich, but she's not that bad.
"Imagine being there for a few weeks!" She caught up to me "do you like your gift?" I looked at my bag, seeing it peaking out between the zipper
"I didn't look what's inside"
"That's good! It'll be a surprise for when I'm not around, though I wish I can see the look on your face" she held her chin to think "well if we meet one day, I can!" She spun around. I could overhear Rodrick and Calem talking to each other from a few trees down from outside the lost hotel and from the open field. I stopped Memory girl on time so I can hear this
"Your girlfriend really did it. I'm actually pretty impressed" Rodrick nervously laughed. So did Memory girl
"I'm impressed she didn't kill anyone" Calem laughed. Rodrick stared at him for a long moment "just kidding. She's not that bad. She's the best person I know!"
"Really? She seemed pretty violent... she's the complete opposite of Serena! How are they related?" I groaned softly, wanting to punch the shit out of him. What gives him a right to talk shit about me behind my back?
"Watch your mouth, will you?" Calem tried his best to keep that smile "she can be watching"
"R-right... well, I wish I could had thanked her again for helping us with this job. It wasn't easy"
"Pretty bad excuse for a ranger, huh?" Calem chuckled "she used a Pokémon and you have a device that can capture Pokémon fit for the job... are you that stupid?" That smile of his... I never knew how fake he was up until now. That smile was the most forced I ever seen him in
"I'm sorry?" Rodrick looked uncomfortable "can you blame me?"
"Of course I can! Oh, and how about you don't try to insult my girl again, okay?" My heart dropped
"I-I didn't insult her!"
"You were thinking about it though" Calem's eyes went dark "I'll thank her for you, I hope you have a safe trip back to where the hell you came from" Rodrick slowly nodded, not knowing what just happened and ran off with the other rangers waiting for him. Memory girl and I stepped out from our spot and watched the ranger run off all freaked out
"That was a little mean, but then again, you're pretty psychotic" she pointed out randomly
"Aren't you Memory girl?"
"Yes! Nice to meet you! We ran into each other before, but I didn't touch you enough to really see who you are, just your personality" I sweat dropped at how she said that. He bowed his head for respect
"Sorry, but no one can touch me unless it's this princess right here" he winked at me. I kicked his gut and turned away terribly red
"S-shut up! Idiot!" He groaned in pain and held out his hand. Memory girl took it to help him, but screamed bloody murder and backed away, falling on a pile of leaves "What happened?" The two of them stared at each other. With Calem boredly standing while rubbing his stomach, to her frozen in fear, I can only guess she saw more than she should had
"I-I'm sorry... I shouldn't have seen that. I misplaced my gloves a long time ago..." she hurried to stand behind me "do you really like this kind of guy?" I blushed again
"What are you talking about? You've seen my past, what's so scary about his?" Calem narrowed his eyes towards her "don't touch her, understand?" He smiled and nodded
"Whatever you say" I rolled my eyes and handed the girl my gloves "let's keep going" she put on the gloves and stared at them
"I'm sure you're going to need this once we arrive in Dendemille Town... for what you did for me, taking care of those guys and give me back my freedom, I'll be more than grateful to offer my thanks by buying you clothes fit for the weather"
"That's random of you, but I already got clothes that can fit a mile long walking closet" she giggled
"I believe you, but you don't have anything made for winter. There's snow up ahead and it gets really cold really fast"
"I'm good for now" Calem shrugged "until we get there, let's wear regular jackets until then" I nodded and took out my designer jacket and offered one to the girl
"For me as well?" She gasped amazed "oh my... this is so beautiful! It's really warm as well" she thought for a moment while putting it on "I never gave you my name, have I?"
"You haven't"
"Well then, my name is Rebecca! I'm known as the memory girl who works with the police for investigation. Because I knew what happened back in Lumiose, I couldn't put myself to be part of it"
"You admired me that much?" She nodded quickly
"Yeah! I do! And because those guys got what they deserved. You... killed the rest of them, didn't you?" I just stared at her "normally something like this should scare me, but I know what kind of person you are. I'm not scared" she nervously glanced at Calem staring down at her like a weakling "b-but I am scared of..." I looked at Calem and slapped his face to move him
"Stop staring, idiot" he laughed and nodded
"Sorry" he offered his hand to Rebecca. She looked at him surprised "will you accept my apology? I'm just very protective of my girl" I glanced away, knowing beating him won't make him stop saying that
Rebecca was nervous about his offering, but took his hand anyways and shook it "I know how much you care about Sophia. It's unhealthy enough, but I know you won't hurt her. You try to be a kind person, you pretend to be normal, but your heart is cold. I know enough from that single touch from a bit earlier, and even I know you can't change unless a specific something is given to you" Calem looked surprised, slowly releasing her hand and looked down at himself "even if I don't know what it is, I believe there's potential, you two will be okay" she smiled "you two are meant for each other!" Something ran down my nose. She laughed and took a tissue out of nowhere and gave it to me, showing me that it was blood coming from my nose. How embarrassing...
"What are you? A therapist?" Calem looked in doubt
"I'm only stating facts and my opinion" she gently took my hand "come on! Dendemille town is still a bit further on! You'll know when the temperature drops!"
"O-okay..." I still don't see how I've gotten myself so many admirers... I feel like Rebecca can be another Shauna, or another Serena with their admiration towards me. I sighed and let her drag me around the route without saying a word
The further we walked, the colder it was getting. Though it started off cool, it gotten to a point where our jackets weren't enough
"Told you it was going to get cold! Don't worry, I'll buy you guys proper attire" Rebecca said
"No thanks" Calem and I said together. We looked at each other before speaking again "I got money" I glared at him for saying what I was going to say while he just laughed. Rebecca lead us to the entrance of the town, which immediately build up with a snow storm
"Come on! The Pokémon center is right over there!" Calem and Rebecca said, both pulling on my hands. They suddenly started glaring at each other for some reason "come on!" Both of them rushed me into the Pokémon center and were both out of breath. I brushed off the snow off my jacket and looked around to see a tiny shop with large coats on sale
"How about we sleep for the night in our own room?" Rebecca suggested "I can go and buy the coats. If I end up missing, blame Calem!" She joked. Calem ignored her as he looked at his Holocaster
"For someone who screamed when touching him and hid behind me, you're actually making jokes?"
"It's not a joke! I know how jealous he gets, no matter who it is" I sighed and looked at Calem finally looking up when feeling me staring
"Don't touch her" I said. He smiled, put his device between his arm and torso and showed both his hands
"Got it" I looked at Rebecca
"There you go"
"He can still kill me!" I looked back at him
"Don't kill her"
"That might be hard, but I'll do as you say, my princess!" I walked away, trying to ignore that comment and bought myself and Rebecca a room for the night and headed upstairs where all the rental rooms were. There wasn't much rooms in Pokémon centers and not all of them had rooms. We're lucky to have came here first thing since we got here and don't have to go back in the storm to find a actual hotel
I got ready for bed after a refreshing shower and looked at Rebecca looking through her phone on her own bed. She looks so much different without her punk disguise. Her short light brown hair rested on her shoulder and she quietly did what she pleases
I send out all my Pokémon and fed them "I hope you don't mind" Rebecca spoke without taking her eyes off her phone "but do you mind if I stay with you guys until we get to the next city? That's where I live"
"I don't really mind, but I have business here" she put her phone down
"Huh? What can that be? This is just a simple little town!" I walked to the window showing the snowstorm
"I know, but I have business to do here" looking at my computer earlier, Z had informed me that it spotted a Team Flare grunt in this very town. I'm planning on leaving while everyone's asleep so I can find out for my own what they're up to
"Business?" I nodded "I see... well, be careful then. Make sure you don't get hurt"
"Don't worry, I won't" Fennekin walked to my ankle and rubbed against me
"How does it feel to finally get over your fear?" She sad smiled "the way you got over it... was traumatizing. But the reason you had the fear was due to running into a Pokémon who almost killed you" I didn't say anything "seeing how you were to how you are now, I think you should be proud of yourself"
"What for? I've still done bad things, and I'll probably do it again"
"Either so, from what I've seen, you should be happy" I smiled a bit
"If only I knew how to be happy"
"Don't worry, I'm sure there's a way for you to change. Do you really think... it's when you tell Serena everything?" I cupped my face and reached out to grab B and bring it close to Rebecca's face "Sophia... what are you-?"
"I know you know a lot about me, and even Calem... but I can't let that happen. You're a sweet girl, and I like you. We can even be good friends. I appreciate you caring so much, but knowing that you know too much... I can't have you know anything" B opened its mouth, making her eyes glow "Even if you just discovered about us, you'll forget everything you've learned about me and Calem. Let's be friends, but I need you to stay distant from me... it's for your own safety" she frowned deeply
"You don't want to admit anything to yourself... why can't you accept anything..?" I looked down
"Because I can't be who I want to be... I'm never going to change into the person I want to be" a tear fell from her eye
"Sophia..." she closed her eyes and fell asleep. I sighed and fixed her hair before covering her with a blanket
"I'll be back... sweet dreams" everyone had ate their food and waited for me to take them. Lucario stayed by my side as everyone went back to their capsules. I looked back at Rebecca still sleeping in her bed and quietly closed the door behind me to see how dark the Pokémon center became
I had to force her to forget what she learned about me and Calem. Though she is a very sweet girl, and even if she may be trustworthy, I can't have her I involved in my life. It's something I've been through and I can't have her look into my private life in only a few seconds of seeing through it. Even if I may have looked into Calem's life, that's a whole other thing when it comes to Rebecca
As I'm heading to the door, the nurse of the PC ran to me. This is when I threw B to the tiny shop to swallow up a coat and make its way back with Lucario picking it up. Wearing the look of disapproval, I ignored it by taking B and put my attention on the nurse
"Young lady, where do you think you're going?" She held her hips like she was my mother
"Out for a few hours"
"It's too cold out there! I will not allow it! You're going to catch a cold!" I ignored her and walked out without another word "wait!" Feeling the icy wind on my face and body, I hurried to put on the warm coat and threw on my scarf around my head and neck, lifting the side to cover my face
"It's really cold... but I have to find them. Z, use barrier!" I released Z and it gave me some relief from where the wind was blowing "that's a bit better. Come on, let's go find them. Lucario?" Lucario closes its eyes for what felt like a while until it picked something up and ran off. Z levitated me to follow it as fast as we could
We flew a very long way, even passing the Wind Mill that wasn't even moving all that much for some reason. I gasped when feeling Serena's aura. Even Lucario felt it by the way it's appendages moved
"She's near! Let's go!" I pushed. Lucario ran after, and Z had to drop the barrier to help with the flying. Eventually, we ran into a large cave with slippery ice on the floor
"A cave..?" What can be in here that Team Flare needs? I took hold of Z to hold me through the slippery floors and followed Lucario through the cave, looking for Serena's Aura
The cave was unbelievably huge, but we finally made it to where Serena stood around some grunts facing a Abomasnow standing against a wall, trying to keep away from the grunts. I hid behind a wall to watch
"This Abomasnow is a fine specimen! It's absolutely brimming with energy! The more we agitate it, the stronger it's snow warning ability becomes, making the snow fall even more furiously" the blue haired scientist said. so that's why it was so windy outside "let's catch it swiftly and get out of here" the large Pokémon looked too weak to move. Serena stepped in with her hands on her hips
"You're kidding... right? You seriously brought me out here in the cold to tell me this Pokémon is going to help gain us energy?" The scientist faced her
"Why do you always have to be a poop in the mud? Why do you even think we took so many Pokéballs?" Serena glared "it was all so we could catch powerful Pokémon like this Abomasnow. It's full of potent energy! Don't you agree?" Serena turned around and smiled when seeing me. She must've felt my aura like I felt hers. Stepping back so I can walk in, I ordered Z to throw them against the wall unexpectedly
"Oops" I giggled "so what's this about energy? Don't you guys get tired of failing all the time? Why don't you guys just stop being stupid and leave this poor Pokémon alone" I threw out Fennekin
"Shut up! Everyone knows that whoever has the most Pokémon and the most energy will come out on top! Lazy people who just wait for things to be handed to them don't get to have these resources"
"The way you describe that..? I don't really care. But why do you take Pokémon, energy, and money? You guys are selfish... no one matters expect you? That's really sad. Leave that Pokémon alone. I'll show you what real energy is" Fennekin looked at me, knowing I wasn't good at battling, but gave me a confident nod. Fennekin...
"The reason we do these things is because we have our own thing going. It's for us and us alone! It's so our team will be the only ones to survive. Why should we care about anyone else?" The scientist looked at Serena just standing there "aren't you going to help us?"
"Huh? Why should I? Try helping yourselves you weak idiots. You've done nothing but be disappointments" the scientist glared "all I ever seen you guys do is loose to a regular trainer, though she does have a lot of energy within her, can you really beat her?" I smiled at that little sass of hers! Even if I knew she was faking
"You bit-" the scientist's hands were shaking "I'll show you..." she dared to send out her Pokémon, but she wasn't successful in the end
"Just as I thought" Serena shook her head "Team Flare! Let's get out of here!" She ran with the team and stopped when having them think she was following them, but she faced me with the sweetest smile. I looked down, ashamed of myself for facing her after what I've done. I lost her crown... how do I have the right to be bestowed upon her happily greeting smile when I don't deserve it?
