Chapter 4*

When I'm walking to school the next day, my head is still spinning.

Mate, Lucy, werewolves, wolves, I just can't get a hold of it.

And even if I have my own problems, I still need to help the animals. Like yesterday.

After the 'encounter' with the werewolves, I left and guarded the forest. Or patrolled, same thing.

I helped Tealeh, the great eagle that lives in a giant pine tree in one of the deepest parts of the forest, with her nest. We had a great time talking and she is really nice.

She'll be a great mother.

I reach the school buildings and push the big wooden doors open.

The corridor is empty, as I'm surprisingly early. That's also the reason that Lucy didn't walk with me to school, she had to hunt in the morning mist. And when Lucy have hunted with the her pack, she's exhausted.

I reach my looker and open it up. My mind searches, frenetically trying to remember my schedule as I pick around with my books, putting a few of them in the right place.

I come to my senses and remember that I have Biology first period, a smile creep it's way to my lips. Even if it kind of says itself that I barley have to pay attention to my Biology lessons, I can't help but feel satisfied.

Today's first lesson is going to be lazy. And that goes for the rest of the day too. Thankfully.

It feels so nice to not have to worry about any werewolves. I don't spot Luke in the hallways and I don't remember seeing him in any of my classes, so I basically empty my head and let the time pass without disturbing anyone.

When school ends for the day, I'm not dead tired, nor wanting to throw myself on my bed or anything alike for that matter.

I just want to run freely in the forest, checking on everyone, making sure that they're alright.

As I step out of the wooden gate I let my eyes enter the purple world replica of souls to see if I can find Lucy. But I don't spot her.

She's probably still in the forest doing pack stuff since Maxie is at home. Mum locked up the house today, so Maxie is stuck in there.

Poor thing.

I walk down the concrete path from school to the road with my eyes still in the soul-replica. Mostly since Lucy sometimes hides and it's impossible to find that wolf without a little trick up your sleeve.

As I start to walk down the sidewalk, my gaze still searches after that yellow soul. But that's when I spot the colour I really don't want to see right here, right now.

Orange.

Three of them stepping out of school, another five getting out of a car, I think. It's hard to see when everything is purple, as the depth and distance gets hard to judge.

I know I shouldn't show that I know the werewolves have arrived, out of various reasons. But I can't help but to speed up my pace heading home.

Wait a second. I shouldn't be heading home, then they would know where I live if they follow me!

I mentally face palm myself and try to find another destination.

I don't have any friends, human friends that is. So I can't go to anyone's house.

The forest? I think that's my best option, but won't that look suspicious? I think-...

''Excuse me?''

I almost jump at the voice interrupting my heated argument with myself. My eyes automatically leave the soul-replica and I turn around to see Luke standing there on the sidewalk.

F*ck. Excuse my colourful vocabulary.

I take in my surroundings, stating that I'm out of the school area, thankfully. To my utter happiness the forest stands on my left, high and protective with its mighty oaks. But, to get to the welcoming trees, it's fifteen meter of grass field. Thankfully the grass is cut short, so it would be easy to run over it, but the werewolves would notice.

At the other side of me, on my right, is the road that eventually leads to my house.

Samantha, you don't know he's different, you can't hear the wolf. Now get yourself together and act innocent.

''Hi! Luke right?'' I ask, smiling innocently at the guy standing in front if me. Every animal in the forest would know it's a fake smile, but I don't think I count werewolves among those.

''She remembers your name!'' The wolf squeals. I didn't know that wolves, or males for that matter, could do that.

''Yeah, that's me! I didn't catch your name though?'' he asks, rather awkwardly.

It's weird talking to someone you know isn't the person they pretends to be. I know he's a werewolf. I know he has a wolf soul with him.

Should I tell him my name? Why not!

''I'm Samantha.'' I say, putting my hands in my jean pockets.

''Samantha, Samantha.'' The wolf says, like he's tasting the name. ''I like it. Wonder what her wolf's name is.''

I can't help but wonder why they're talking to me. Maybe they're just polite? Or they have a plan up their sleeve?

Sh*t, they probably have a plan up their sleeve.

''Um... Really nice seeing you, but I have a place to be at.'' I professionally excuse myself with a sweet smile. Now when I realise they might want or do something, I want this conversation to end.

''Wait a secound... is she leaving?'' the wolf asks, to no one in particular. I think - hope...

There is a pause, and I wave awkwardly before I start to walk backwards and prepare to turn around.

''Everyone, interfere! She's leaving!'' the wolf barks loudly.

Interfere? With what? Did he just say that to more than one werewolf?

I turn around, just to almost walk into a kind if buff guy standing there smirking. I excuse myself and step aside, when another dude becomes visibly, equally buff and well muscular.

Question answered. He did say that to more then one werewolf.

I smile at them before politely stepping aside again, not showing that my pulse has started to go a little wild. I try to keep my breathing steady to look calm and unbothered.

''Um.. excuse me?'' I ask, cracking an eyebrow at the now three men blocking my way. In the corner of my eye I see more guys join, and I don't have to let my eyes enter the purple soul-replica to get that they're werewolves as well.

I turn around again just to almost run into Luke. Something has changed in his eyes, he looks regretful and worrying, and I can't help but to wonder why.

''Well...'' he trails of, not looking me in the eyes.

''... I also have a place to be, and you're coming with me.'' he finishes, his voice getting dark and powerful at the end. It almost get a little possessive. All I can ask my self is where the guy that seemed kind of nice went.

Wait, I'm coming with him?

No! I'm not! I go wherever I want. And if I don't want to be somewhere, I'm not there.

In that moment I realise that I need a plan, and that I need a plan in this very moment. Improvisation is one of my stronger sides, but this might be under a little bit too much pressure.

When Luke reaches for my arm, I let out a warning-howl of danger.

If I'm counting on this correctly, the wolf-souls in the werewolves will react, but not the humans, which will cause confusion that will buy me some time. But I'm not sure I'll get any reaction at all.

But, what I do know, is that the wolf pack is on it's way. They would never leave their guardian in any kind of danger.

The males surrounding me that I now see is a lot more then I thought from the start, about ten actually, freeze.

I think their wolves reacted.

But Lucy said they...?

I don't think the thought through, instead I run.

With the forest as my goal.

A/N:

Wow, you guys that actually read this aren't that talkative, are you?

I mean, in the comments.

Meh, not that I am that on any level.

Soooo, what do you think of Luke's wolf? Prepare to see more of him xD

Ah, the things I have planned out for this book >:)

Pic of how I imagine Lucy as media.
