Stumbling, I tried to reach the door of the motel room. After Eli had left he hadn't bothered to lock it, but I had to. It wasn't a simple want, I couldn't live with it unlocked. I felt this unnerving feeling all throughout my body and it made me lose focus on what was happening. Tripping, I continued to crawl towards the door. Someone in my shape shouldn't have been trying so hard to do this, but I did, I had to.

Finally reaching the door, I felt the satisfying click of the lock right when the handle started to shake. Using the handle of the door I lifted myself up to the peephole. It wasn't Eli. It was him.

I didn't know who he was, or how I knew him, but just looking at him sent shivers down my spine. I knew that it had to be the person who hurt me. Slowly I locked the second lock on the door, but continued to stare right at him through the peephole. Somehow I stood, even as fear shook my body. Who was this man? Was he even the right person? Without my memories I was unsure if I was even correct in assuming who he was, but still I didn't trust him.

Making my way back to the bed I sat down and waited for him to stop trying to get in. One minute slowly turned into two and before I knew it he was gone. Hopefully for good, but life could never be that simple.

"Let me in!" Eli yelled shaking the door, "I get locking the first lock, but the chain one too!" Stumbling to the door I quickly undid the lock.

"Sorry," I mumbled, trying to hold together my sanity. Even after a half-an-hour of silence I still couldn't get over how I felt when I saw that man.

"Tamara? Are you okay?" I grimaced when he said my name, perhaps to obviously.

"He... He came here..." I said trying to hold back tears, "I don't know how I know, but looking at him scared me. It had to have been him." I looked up to meet Eli's eyes just as a tear slipped out of my own.

"Come here," Eli said wrapping his arms around me, "I know you're scared, but I'll stay with you until I know you're safe, okay?"

"You promise?" I sniffled.

"Of course," Eli said holding me as I started to cry, "I've got you."

"I'm so sorry you have to take care of me," I sobbed, "I mean I'm just this lost girl without her memories and now you're all wrapped up in helping me. You should just leave me. I don't deserve this."

"No one deserves half the things they are given in life," Eli seemed to be speaking from experience, "But some things turn out to be a gift," He looked down at me, "Maybe you'll be one of those things."

Letting me lay back on the bed, he turned off the lights. For awhile he did things around the room, but soon enough it was silent, and for the first time that I could remember I fell asleep.
