The street, a few hours later, started getting filled with police surrounding the exact area, in the corner of the Woof Café, where Z and I heard the screams and groans. The two of us stared behind a yellow tape at investors and crime scene inspectors searching the place. Eventually, the ambulance arrived and took a few bodies out with gurneys. There were a few who weren't moving at all and was covered massively in red. The "lucky" ones were still alive, screaming above their lungs, crying that their body parts, such as limbs, were missing and shouted nothings of a monster attacking them
Everyone around me was terrified and disgusted with what they were looking at. Police instructed everyone to stand back or to move long
The body of the Rattata, from before that disappeared into the darkness by that large purple hand, was also taken on a gurney with the rest of the men. All of the people being carried out were either lifeless or were screaming in pain, begging for the bleeding to stop, no matter how much was pressed on their wounds
"How strange..." I stared at many of them going into different vehicles "was this the work of a Pokémon..?" I held my chin, trying to figure out why I wasn't a victim "Hey, Z... did that Rattata say something that could had lead to a clue on what just happened?" It nodded "so that's how it is... let's go and investigate. I want to know exactly what those people's motive were... if I wasn't paying attention, Something bad could had happened to me. They might have some information" I walked pass the crowd, all too focused on the sightings to notice me bumping into them, later for me to see Calem standing on the side of the crowd by the Café, staring at everything without a single emotion on his face. This is what Shauna meant by him acting like a doll... so that's it, huh?
"Calem..?" I never thought I'd see him like this... so much without emotion "Calem!" I called out for him to hear me. He snapped out his gaze and looked around for me. I tried waving, but my arm got grabbed and mouth was pressed with someone's hands, leaning me against their chest, and dragged me away from the crowd and into a dark ally without anyone, or even Z, to notice
I stood motionless, gripping on the men's arm for support, as he drags me away into a quiet area where probably no one could hear us. I gasped as he threw my body against the wall sideways, sending pain on my elbow
"You... girl. What did you do!?" I groaned, sitting up, looking up at the tall dark figure staring down at me "everyone... everyone got attacked so suddenly. You got something to do with it" I kept my chin down, looking up at him with wide murderous eyes. He took a step back, not expecting it as I used my good arm to help me back on my feet
"I have no idea what you're talking about... I happened to be in that place at the wrong time. You got me all the way here, to what? make me tell you that I did something to your friends? oh, is that it? Weren't you guys going to do something to me before something happened to them? I know guys like you, I know people like you. Just by the smell of your breath, you are just like any other criminal. What were you planning on doing with me once you got me alone?" I tilted my head to the side "You were planning something much darker with those people... why should you be concerned about your friends? I was the one you were after, wasn't I? What? Do you think you shouldn't have gotten what you deserve?"
"What the fuck do you know? Stop talking or I'm going to have to take care of that pretty little face of yours!" I held my chin, very amused
"If those guys weren't hurt first, I was going to be that victim if it didn't happen to them. You were concerned about your gang, but you know what they say... what goes around comes around, and you happen to escape unharmed. well that's too bad" I cracked my knuckles "Bad people don't get a chance to run away. It's called karma, and I am one bad bitch" I giggled, walking closer
"Who do you think you are!?" He grabbed me by the neck and pounded me on the wall "You think you can talk to me like that? Do you even know who you're messing with? You're a tough girl, trying to stand up to me. Do it, like to see you try" I snapped my finger. Z came just in time and lifted the man in the air with psychic, moving him away from me "huh!? Hey! I can't move!"
"And try I shall do..." Z brought him down to my level, giving him a glance of my deadly stare "You messed with the wrong girl. Listen, I'm going to offer you a deal... if you can offer some information I'm looking for, I might let you go"
"W-what kind of information?"
"I'm looking for... a certain girl. She's Kalo's showcase Queen, Serena. Heard of her?"
"Y-yeah... I'm actually a fan" I giggled at the response
"Really? Then this shouldn't be long. Tell me what you know"
"I know nothing! I swear! If I knew, I would had told you!"
"Oh? Is that the truth?" I deepened my voice in suspicion
"I'm telling the-" I punched him in the gut with my good arm, making him cough out his own spit
"I don't believe you..." I punched him again, knocking the air out of him. I forced him down the floor against the wall "Even if you were telling the truth, You still need to be punished for what you tried doing..." I pressed my foot on his cheek "You tried hurting the wrong person. You put your hands on a girl and tried hurting her. That's not nice... You don't know me... but I'd like to introduce myself. I'm Serenity, it's nice to meetcha!" His eyes widened as I pressed on his face harder
"Serenity..? You mean that famous girl from Sinnoh? The one that was a part of that super dangerous ga-" I stomped on his face and kicked him on his gut as hard as I could before my leg gave out. I grew exhausted after a short while. I haven't moved like that in a long time... I better get out of here before someone finds me
Z lead me through the alley to a plaza between the busiest avenues. Sitting in Vert Plaza on a bench, I rubbed my elbow I couldn't feel "I let my guard down... twice" I cupped the side of my face, ashamed "I was lucky nothing happened..." I held my neck and coughed "he really got a grip there..." I chuckled "What did I expect..? I stopped working out, but at least I didn't loose my strength" I squeezed the hand on my bad arm, flinching with the forced of muscle "I'm an idiot..." Z looked up and floated away "Z?" It came back later with Calem running behind it "Calem..?" I stood up holding my arm
"Sophie!" I sighed and let that nickname go, even if he's been using it since recently. He stopped in front of me, seeing my arm, and good leg supporting the rest of my body "what happened..?" He stared at my leg I elevated as I sat back down
"Nothing too extreme. I hit my elbow and twisted my ankle when I was running"
"R-running..?" I nodded, crossing my bad leg over the other
"Some guy, that was part of the gang that got beat up or something, came after me since I happen to be around the crime scene. I didn't even know what happened" I leaned on my knee "he tried blaming me, but I... was lucky to run away" There's no reason to tell that I took care of him. I'll seem a bit suspicious
Calem kneeled down to look up at me, surprising me "huh?" He took my knee, frowning sadly at me
"How do you feel?" I stared at his concerned eyes staring into mine "your scarf is loose..." I gripped on my scarf and looked away
"Don't worry about it" he sighed and lifted my ankle, gently removing my shoe "h-hey!" I panicked, wanting to pull back. His grip was too firm to release. How is he so strong?
"I'm not going to do anything" he moved around my ankle, trying to mind the source of my pain. I bit my lips, trying to keep him from finding it, but my flinching didn't help "it doesn't seem like you twisted it, rather put a lot of impact on it" he put my shoe back on "can you walk?" I don't know why I can easily reach out for the hand he always tries to give me so he can help me. The last thing I ever want is help, and I'm never asking for it. Instead of making it seem like I'm taking help, what it's looking like most is letting him assist me, as in... letting him do things for me instead of me doing them, much like a servant or something. What drives him to do these things for me anyways?
Holding his hand firmly, I limped over to where he was walking me "I told you I don't- whoa!" He suddenly bend down in front of me and lift me onto his back "C-Calem!"
"Don't bother, I already knew what you were gonna say" he chuckled and walked forward "how about we go to a Café near by? If you snuck out, I'm sure you just couldn't sleep" I chuckled, amused, finding myself resting my chin on his shoulder "am I right?"
"You're only half right... I rather not stay out here anymore. I've been through a lot" and I rather not have that guy find me still roaming around the city... not that I left him in any condition to get back up again, or see, or talk, or even breath probably. Did I go too far? who cares? He put his dirty hands on me first
"No problem, princess" I looked at him confused "I'll go anywhere with you" sighing, I just rested on his shoulder, thinking back on the story Shauna told me about him...
"Sophia?" I opened my eyes to see Shauna standing over me the next morning "what are you doing down here?" I stood up to see myself sitting on the couch in Sycamore's place. How did I get here? As I think about it more, I started remembering what happened last night. Calem took me here, didn't he?
I gazed at the tv being on and looked back at Shauna still curious "I was just watching tv last night, is all" she looked aside of me, looking at Calem sleeping on the opposite couch from me
"With Calem?" She held her chin "Calem often does sneak off during the night as I see from my window, but I didn't think you'd do the same. Even he knows that Lumiose is very dangerous at night. Thank goodness he didn't leave out this place" she looked at me "you didn't go outside, did you?" I shook my head, lying "that's a relief... there's been reports of young girls getting kidnapped in the alleys, never to be seen again. I know you're a smart girl, so I wouldn't think you'd do something so stupid that would lead you to leave the safety of this lab" right...
"I'm fine. You don't have any reason to worry about me" I leaned on the couch and watched the tv showing the news of the night sky with police lights all over the screen, showing the same alley Z pulled me away from. Shauna picked up the remote, turning up the volume to hear the news lady talking on her desk about the video next to her
"Around 3 o'clock in the morning, people passing by heard the screams of others from the alley between Vernal Avenue and the Bleu Plaza. Police were contacted while the screams lasted for what claims to be a few minutes before help arrived" my eyes widened "it took a few hours of police to investigate what happened between those alleys. Police Pokémon had to get involved in order to guarantee safety just in case a wild and dangerous Pokémon was on the loose. When police inspect that there wasn't a Pokémon or culprit, they contacted ambulance immediately when discovering 10 bodies of large men partly dead, and other still alive with severe wounds. Deaths were documented to be caused by starting from stabs through the stomach, heart, to throats. To the ones who lived, limbs were missing from a few of these gentleman" Shauna cupped her mouth
"Oh my..." Sycamore and the boys, including Sina, walked into the room to check out the news as well
"Police had to force the large crowd to leave the area, trying their best not to cause a outrage of terrified people who didn't know if their own lives were in danger. Here were a few witnesses who liked to talk about what they saw, one happens to be a famous young lady who is known to use her powers to read into more than what others can see or know; memory girl" the screen zoomed in to the playing video of a pretty girl with a soft expression talking to a reporter last night
"Memory girl?" I asked
"Yeah, never heard of her?" Trevor asked "if you're lucky to have a meeting with her, she can read into your past by a touch, even Pokémon, seeing more than what a memory can show, such as details between the lines, she works for the police on investigations sometimes" huh... I looked at Calem's eyes open, still in his sleeping position, staring at the tv with his hair all over his face, not looking happy
"You're the famous memory girl who can read memories of others!" The interview smiled
"Yes, that is me" the girl smiled softly
"Can you talk about your thoughts and what exactly you saw?"
"Sadly... I cannot tell the full story, but I will inform on is something very interesting" she smiled and touched her heart, closing her eyes "I was lucky to get a touch of a few people around the crime scene who were pushing around and walking by, including the young woman who ran from that alley as the screams were going on" I flinched. The girl seemed uncomfortable
"Are you okay?" The interviewer asked. The girl nodded and continued
"A young girl ran from the alley the crime scene took place. She wasn't involved, she was lucky to had survived" she looked down "these people were dangerous... she knew this too from experience" I held my chest "she was distracted, but something stopped these people from causing her harm" she poked her forehead in pain "these people were killed and injured, for the sake of that girl... even she didn't know what happened, but" she lowered her arm "what these people have done during the pass few years with their victims, it seems the person who rescued her became their karma. They've killed, they've done so many things, and with all these things they've done? They got exactly what they did to others" the interviewer was too shocked to say words "even I'm afraid to fully speak these details, that's why I don't want to get involved with this investigation" she looked at the camera "to the girl who made it out alive? If you're watching this, I hope I can meet you one of these days" she bowed to the camera "that is all I have to say" she walked away, ignoring the interviewer trying to get her attention again
"So who ever killed those bad people was protecting this girl who didn't even know what happened?" Tierno asked himself. I looked around the group, seeing Calem still pretending he's asleep, and I looked over at Sina gazing at me from the corner of her eye, like she was suspicious about something
"That was all the witnesses that talked about what exactly they saw. The memory girl refuses to be part of the investigation, which makes police question what exact they were dealing with" the woman from the desk came back "no evidence were found in the crime scene. Police noted that the wounds were created with a wide bladed knife, using it to easily clean off the limbs that were found a few yards away from the original bodies. At 8 o'clock am, about an hour ago while this was filming and we were cutting to the interviews, we received updates about the victims who were injured. They were identified to be the dangerous gang of Lumiose, known as the Shadowed Rattatas, who were very hard to find through the dark streets of Kalos around the times their usual kidnapping activities were reported. During the time police asked questions, they said that the gang members were too scarred to explain what they saw. The most they could get from them was 'a hungry monster' not being able to get any more information, police had no choice but to allow the hospital to help cure them before they are taken to jail"
"A hungry murder? That's so scary!" Shauna squealed "I didn't know Lumiose was that dangerous! Of course I did, what am I, stupid?" She asked herself nervously
"Last update for this scoop, this morning police found another gang member in the alley opposite the previous activity had taken place. The difference was that this man was beaten to a point where he almost stopped breathing" I snorted "no knife wounds were found, but others suspect that who ever did the activity near Bleu Plaza was working along side the person who abused the gang member near Vert plaza. Though this was not proven otherwise, we were able to get a few words from the beaten man getting transported to the hospital" the woman looked at her papers "Serenity" my eyes widened more "she did this to me... how is she here..? Serenity... Serenity..." the woman put her papers down "and that's all we have for today, police will continue with this investigation today, until then, let's cut to commercial break"
