Chapter Nineteen ( Cayden's POV)
Once I was with my group, Alex and I helped distribute the spray that would help mask our scent and prevent us from alerting the star lake pack. Then when everyone was done spraying the formula over themselves we stripped, tied our clothes to our legs and shifted. There was about twenty five weres per group. I led the group Alex flanking my right. Marvin someone from the Rhinestone pack on my left and behind them were guy from the one of the other packs.
We set off in the direction of the star lake pack territory. In wolf form it will take us a little over two hours to run, but if we were in human form it would have taken us at least six because in wolf form we are three times as fast as in our human form.
On the run I couldn't stop thinking about what Aria said was going to happen when we got pack. I am a male who badly wants his mate, what do you expect?
All of a sudden my dad's voice entered my mind.
" son"
" Yeah"
" Keep your thoughts to yourself I nor anyone else in the pack want to know what you and your mate plan to do when you get back home. She has become like a daughter to me and I don't want to have your thoughts about her like that going through my mind got it?"
" Sorry I forgot i am not used to having my walls down and people hearing my thoughts" I replied no doubt that if I was in human form my face would be bright red. The whole pack heard that even my mother. God I am such an idiot.
" I know son none of us our just stop thinking about it ok"
" Yeah"
I heard snickers in my mind and that just made everything worse.
" SHUT UP" I commanded through the pack link and everyone quickly shut up. If you have alpha blood runnning through your veins, then you can use the alpha command. However the current alpha male and female really have the final say because their demands are the strongest.
The rest of the way there was silent. My group was close to the southern border and all but five of us shifted back into human form. I shifted back, but alex and for other of our pack members didn't. I had five from my pack stay in wolf form because it would be easiest to communicate orders. The five of them went ahead and took out the guards rendering them all unconcious.
Keeping them in wolf form, we all stayed hidden in the trees away from prying eyes and careful not to allert anyone. I hope that the other boarders are secure soon because we won't have much time before someone realizes the guards aren't responding.
" Southern Boarder secure" One person from each of the other packs and I sent through our mind links.
" Eastern Boarder Secure" Someone sent back.
A few minutes late " Western boarder Secure" and now we were just waiting to hear that the northern boarder was secure.
Soon enough " Northern board secure ready to move in when you are" rang through the pack links.
Three " readys" echoed through the link and we all tied our clothes and shifted before emerging from the covers of the trees.
Some of the pack women screamed and there children ran to them. The men took protective stances not that they could really protect anyone. They looked like skin and bones not that the women were any better. Only the guards and what was probably their families looked remotely healthy.
The beta's, my father and I all shifted back into our human forms.
" We would like to speak with your Alpha" I spoke breaking the silence.
" Who are you?" One of the guards asked.
" Cayden next in line for Alpha of the Moonlight Pack"
Moments later what I assume to be the alpha came out of the pack house. He was a raggy looking guy who reaked of alcohol and that takes alot for a werewolf. Just by looking at him you could tell he was unworthy of being an alpha. what was left of his teeth were yellow or rutten. He had an unkept hair style with along beard and although he still had the muscular body of a were. He must have had to try really hard to look the way he does because werewolfs tend to look like perfection in the eyes of humans since we stop aging at about twenty five and can choose to age after loosing our mate or if we have a human mate. Having a human mate is highly uncommon though.
" Why are you on my land" the alpha sneered.
" we have come to ask you to step down"
" Is this a joke"
" NO"
" well fuck you I am not stepping down" He said before shifting and lunging at me. I barely had time to react. I was pinned on the gound and my side was in shooting pain. I heard growls and the sound of what seemed like fighting wolfs around me. The thought of Aria and my promise coursed through my mind and pushed me to fight back.
I flipped us over so that I had the upper hand. His jaws snapped at me and I bit his shoulder and everywhere but his neck because he had his chin tucked to his chest leaving no place to access his neck. FInally after awhile of fighting and him loosing a lot of blood he went slack and I snapped his neck. Another wolf came at me and ignoring the pain in my side and leg I attacked back.
I could tell I was loosing the battle. The wolf pinned me and was going for the kill bite to the neck when he was suddenly off of me and I blacked out.
( Alex POV)
The Alpha had just stepped out of the pack house. The guy was disgusting. I didn't know a werewolf could look like that. A tipically werewolf is clean and what in the human eye looks like perfection. This guy looks like the worthless piece of shit that we know him as. who murders a childs parents infront of them for his breakfast not being made. This guy is a sick fuck and I hope he doesn't step down so we can have the joy of killing him and his guards. There are plenty of strong guards here who could have taken him down, but choose not to. All these women and children who suffered at the hands of these monsters, who didn't have to. I am livid. It looked like Chase and Rosie were lucky. Yeah Chase was skinny, but he didn't look starved.
" Why are you on my land" the alpha sneered.
" we have come to ask you to step down" Cayden informed the bum.
" Is this a joke"
" NO"
" well fuck you I am not stepping down" He said before shifting and lunging at Cayden. Then all hell broke loose.
It was easily three to one our pack having the upper hand. This guy Marvin and I tag teamed this huge wolf. The wolf looked menacing and would easily scare someone else. It looked rabid the only thing it was missing was the foam spewing out of its mouth. I lunged at him. We restled for a few minutes and I snapped his neck. I came out with a few scratches, but nothing big. You think the asshole would have surrendered with how out numbered he was, but I guess he was stupider than he looked.
I saw Cayden kill the Alpha and another wolf go at him. The wolf was about to kill him and I pushed the wolf off of him and Marvin snapped his neck. I stood over Cayden who had passed out protectively. I know that sounds gay, but the man has saved my ass countless times and hes my bestfriend. Hopefully I will become his beta when he takes over, but enough of that for now.
I looked around and it looked like everyone from the star lake pack either submitted or was killed. There was probably about fifteen dead and forty or fifty who submitted. I got off of Cayden and walked shifted into human form and got dressed.
SInce Cayden was already in wolf form, his chances of survival are higher since we heal faster in our wolf form.
Our pack doctor's son was a fighting with us so he went to tend to Cayden, since he knows somethings about healing. Nobody we brought was killed in the battle. The only one majorly wounded was Cayden. Everybody else was either unharmed or had small wounds that would heal instantly.
( Brayden's POV)
The battle was over as quickly as it started. Most of the pack had chosen to submit rather than fight. Which was a good thing on their part. The pack members who weren't guards I don't think we will have to worry about. Its just the guards who were loyal to that bastard of an alpha who I am worried about.
We split the remaining pack members into groups so they could be tended to. We had all the remaining guards in one group. The rest of the males in another. Then the female and children in one group each.
The men moved about getting food and water for the former star lake pack members. The pack doctor and some of the females from our pack were on the way to help. The sick members were taken out of the groups.
Alpha saunders and the betas were dealing with the remaining guards. The female fighters from the Rhinestone pack I think it is are tending to the children who are eating the food like animals. They are probably afraid of it be taken poor kids. Some of the other pack members and I are distributing food to the adult males and females.
I was handing water and some fruit to one of the girls she had to be at least eighteen when I felt a shock course through my body.
MATE MATE MATE my wolf chanted in my head. She was beautiful even though she was melnurished and had bruises.
Me and my wolf were pissed that our mate had been harmed. She was cowering away from us and it made me feel sick.
" I won't hurt you " I said keeping a gentle tone.
she nodded, but looked like she was still waiting for me to hurt her.
" what is your name honey"
" Marnie"
" OK, Marnie I am Brayden. Stay here I will come back for you as soon as we are done helping everyone else."
"O-Ok" she stuttered a reply.
When the pack doctor arrived he went straight to tend to Cayden. We started to load the people in to the vehicles we found on the premises and that our pack members brought. The driver and the person in the passenger seat where from our pack the rest of us would have to run back home. We couldn't risk them trying to escape and causing us to have to kill them. We know their scared and we are going to help them as much as we can.
I found Marnie waiting for me like I had said and someone trying to get her to go to a car.
" Leave her" I ordered. The guy left me and my mate to be.
" do you want to run back with me"
" yes for some reason I trust you" she said making my heart swell.
" You should trust me I am your mate"
" You won't want me long"
" dont say that lets go" I said waiting for her to shift before I did. Once we were both shifted I couldn't help but notice her wolf was absolutely beautiful despite the fact she was skin and bones like her human form. Her wolf was gray with a whilte diamond on her chest. We ran with the others and I had to fight the urge to mount her the whole way there. I knew that she wasn't ready and I should wait and keep her happy and safe in the mean time.
