KAYLA (Arissa in the pic)
Arissa threw one Bloodling at Clarke. "Cut it open."
"Why me?" He whined.
"Because I said so." Arissa flipped her blonde hair.
Clarke rolled his eyes and dropped the Bloodling on the floor, he knelt down. "Anyone have a knife?"
I gave the knife I was holding, or the knife I used to kill Terry, to Clarke.
He grabbed it. "Thanks." and started slicing the stomach.
Arissa did the same, but more roughly. Blood splattered all over her black coat as she did it.
"Are you okay Arissa?" Alice asked.
She sighed. "I can't believe he killed your parents."
"Please," Zach looked at his feet. "Can we not talk about that right now?"
Arissa nodded, she then dipped her hand into the Bloodling, grabbing an organ. It didn't even look like an organ!
She started smothering the blood all over herself.
Once she was done, she asked, "Who's next?"
Taylor, looking very disgusted shivered.
"Ah, Taylor." Arissa pulled her arm. "Let's do you." She started taking more blood and wiping it all over Taylor.
Clarke did the same to himself, helping Alice and Teresa too. Zach helped me.
"Are you okay?" He asked as wiped some blood on my back, since I couldn't reach it.
I pinched my nose, to prevent smelling the blood. "No."
He pulled my hair up, and smothered more blood on my neck. "Yeah, that probably wasn't a good question."
"How are you doing?" I asked.
He sighed. "I have to admit, not good."
I then turned around and helped Zach. "Life is shit."
"Mm, it's been like that since the virus." He laughed.
His laugh made my heart skip a beat, which was weird. Something about him made me feel, what do you call it?
Couple minutes later, we were all ready.
Arissa tried to open the door, "It won't budge!"
She slammed it again. "It's still not opening."
Arissa continued, but Clarke pulled her away. "Stop." He whispered. "You know why It's blocked? Its blocked by bloodlings!" He pointed at the slightly opened door.
"Oh.."
He sighed. "Op-"
The door bursted open. A whole bunch of bloodlings started to flood the room. Luckily they didn't notice us, I pulled Alice near me so we wouldn't lose her. Although she's a tall girl, she can definitely get lost in this crowd of bloodlings.
We all slowly pushed through the crowd, not making a sound. We walked in one line, Arissa at the front, Zach, Me, Alice, Taylor, Teresa and Clarke. We made it out the hall safely, but,
Outside was worst.
They were everywhere. There was even a young lady getting eaten up near a dead lamp post. And kids.
Little bloodlings.
Arissa slightly gasped.
We walked and walked what felt like hours. Who knew this place was so big?
My parents.
We continued to walk until we reached the entrance, which was too, flooded by the undead.
We now walked slightly faster. And finally, we made it.
We made it.
Far away from the entrance.
Clarke suggested we hide behind a tree so we could discuss on what to do next.
So we did.
"So what now?" Taylor asked.
Alice leaned on the tree. "Everything is gone."
"Not everything." Zach said.
"Huh?" We all said in unison.
He looked us. "Rockwell."
Taylor gasped. "You're right. Our original mission was to get to Rockwell anyway right? Will could be there!"
"Now, now." Teresa said. "Don't get your hopes up. It probably doesn't even exist."
I shrugged. "We can always try."
"What's Rockwell?" Clarke asked.
"Our plan was suppose to find Rockwell and stay there." Taylor said. "But plans changed when we found Clinton."
Arissa raised an eyebrow. "Do you know where this Rockwell is?"
"I used to have a map in my old backpack. But it's in the river now." I glared at Taylor.
Taylor rolled her eyes "Are we seriously still going on about that?"
"Maybe, maybe not."
"Guys, I think I know how to get there." Alice said as she pointed at a sign just at the opposite side of the road.
^
ROCKWELL
IS JUST 2 HOURS AWAY!
"So um," Teresa bit her bottom lip. "How did we not see that?"
"We're blind." Arissa sighed.
"C'mon let's go." I said.
We all started to walk, except for Taylor.
"Taylor? You okay?" Arissa asked.
"I am not, walking with this on me." Taylor waved her hands at herself.
"Oh come on Taylor. It's just blood."
"Yeah, just blood. Somebody else's blood." She shivered.
Arissa waved. "Well then, good luck finding your way to Rockwell."
We all started walking away.
"Ugh." Taylor grabbed her backpack. "I'm coming!" She jogged towards us.
.
.
.
It's been a couple of minutes since we left Denville.
And it's getting colder every minute.
"Am I the only one freezing?" Arissa said, hugging her coat.
"No." Teresa shivered. " I am too."
"Here," Clarke wrapped an arm around Teresa. "I'll keep you warm."
"Thanks." Teresa blushed.
"What's going on there?" Alice whispered as she pointed at the two behind us.
Arissa sighed. "My brother moves on quite fast."
"I can definitely see that." I muttered to myself.
"Hey!" Zach looked at me. "Im here."
"I know you are."
I didn't really speak on our journey to Rockwell. I was still sad. I mean who wouldn't be? My parents just died.
I sighed at the thought of it.
A couple more minutes passed by and the temperature is dropping really fast. I'm still surprised I haven't seen snow yet.
I shivered.
"I'm going to be a good person," Zach said as he pulled me closer to him. "and keep you warm like Clarke." He winked.
All I gave him was a small smile but it instantly faded away.
Zach frowned at the look on my face. "What do you need me to do to make you happy again?"
Bring back my parents.
"Nothing."
He sighed. "Just know I'm here for you Kayla, and I'll always be."
"I know Zach," I leaned on his shoulder. "I know."
He smiled.
.
.
.
And hour and a fifty five minutes have passed and we could already see a town. Snow covered the whole place.
Rockwell was a town.
Which was even better.
We were nearly there.
It was hard to see with all the snow raining down.
Creeeeeek
We all stopped walking. "What was that?" Alice asked.
Creeeek
Again, the sound.
"Can we ju-"
But Teresa was cut off, when a Bloodling jumped on me. But this time it didn't really end the way it usually did. I didn't get saved.
I got bitten.
Bang!
A gun was fired and the Bloodling was dead.
My vision started to get blurry. The bite on my shoulder surprisingly didn't hurt. Well maybe it did, but I was too shocked to notice.
"Kayla," Zach looked at the bite. "No, no, Kayla stay with me. We're gonna get you some help."
Voices started to fade.
"Kayla, stay awake." Arissa said as Zach and Clarke placed my arms around them.
"We gotta run or she's not going to make it." Clarke said.
"She's gone." A voice said, which sounded a lot like Taylor.
"She's not." Alice retorted back.
We were now walking really fast towards Rockwell.
I'm going to die.
Am I?
"Don't leave me Kayla." Zach whispered in to my ear, his voice shaking. "I'm here for you and I'll always be."
