Eunseo managed to get a seat in the game. She had a good spot. Right in the middle of the court.
Nervous.
She was sweaty and nervous. Probably more than her friends. Her school's team which included Jaehyun, Ten and others is going against her former school where all her family-like friends are.
She shifted worriedly in her seat.
No matter who wins, she'll end up being happy and sad for both.
Though, deep inside, she hope that Jaehyun would win. He did say he was going to tell her something if he did.
And Jaehyun is a man of his words.
He proved that.
Once the game starts, the whole crowd got excited with cheering and the sound of the ball thumping, plus the screeching sound of shoes on the floor.
Left.
Right.
Left.
Right.
Eunseo can't even figure who would win.
Jaehyun's team?
Or Mingyu's team?
Which one was she supposed to support?
Her best friend's team?
Or her crush's team?
When Jaehyun scored a goal, she'd be clapping and cheering along with her schoolmates.
When Mingyu scored one for his team, Eunseo was the only one in her school cheering for the rival team. She faked a cough after realizing people staring at her weirdly.
After a while, the game was nearing its end. Eunseo looked at both teams in concern. Both of them were in a draw.
She watched as her school's team's MVP threw the ball right into the goal. Cheers erupted from the whole hall as the game ends.
Her school came out as the winner.
Eunseo stood up and clapped enthusiastically but when her eye landed on the rival team, she softened.
Her friends all looked down.
After people left the court and only few stayed including the players from both teams. They shook their hands with each other.
"Congratulations!" Eunseo managed to congratulate Ten before he was attacked by his fangirls. She only smiled at him. She couldn't find Jaehyun which was surprising since he did told her to stay.
She headed to the rival team and spotted Mingyu on the bench, slouching with a very dejected aura. She sighed and shook his body vigorously.
"Congrats!"
"We lost,"
"I said congrats!"
"Yeah, thank you."
She smiled at his insincere yet sincere reply. She greeted her other friends who were there especially the supporters who came—the girls.
She hugged Pinky and Eunwoo. She made eye contact with Wonwoo and they weren't uncomfortable at all. He gave her a knowing look and she understood.
"Alright, this is not the time to be sad. Let's go and eat," she went to Mingyu and pulled his arm. He remained on the bench, still sad.
He was acting like a five year old.
A five year old giant.
She pushed him off the bench and made him walk out. The others followed behind. She made sure everyone got out so she could buy them a treat.
"Eunseo," a voice called.
She turned around and saw Ten, Jaehyun and the others. Ten looked at her a bit offended and Jaehyun had an unexplainable expression on his face. A mix of disappointment, hurt and jealousy.
"I thought we were supposed to go out together," Ten said.
"Ah, but I already...promised to treat them. Later?" She looked at them apologetically.
"It's fine, you can go with them." Mingyu said, quite soullessly.
"What are you talking about?" She hit him on the arm. "I promised, didn't I?"
"I'll treat you guys something later," she said to Ten.
Eunseo mouthed sorry to Ten and went out with her friends.
"Did she just—" Ten looked surprised.
"Left us," Johnny butted in.
"I cannot believe this," Yuta said, feeling rather stunned. He felt like he was stood up by a date—which wasn't even his.
They went out a little later, feeling happy but quite dejected by Eunseo.
Jaehyun mumbled to himself, looking distraught. He ran his fingers through his hair and trailed behind his friends.
"We won but why do I feel like I've lost?"
