Chapter Twenty-One

-Destiny's P.O.V-

"I'm home!" I sang happily as I hopped into the house.

"Hi honey, you're early today." Mom greeted first.

"Yeah, our teacher decided to dismiss us early." I beamed.

"Well that's good, at least you have more time to rest before going to work. Dave seems pretty excited about it."

"Mom, there's a cute girl there, of course I'm excited." Dave said while staring at his reflection. "Do you have any idea how cute she is?"

"We will never know unless you bring her home." Mom said while washing her hands under the sink. "Okay, I'm off to the hawker stall now. Your dad will be here any time."

Mom pecked both Dave and I on the cheek before dashing off with handfuls of noodles in her basket. Dave resumed styling his hair, probably just wanting to make a good impression on this so-called cute girl. I bet he doesn't even know her name.

I've managed to arrange my working days with Meg so it won't clash with our practices, and thank goodness the guys were not suspicious about anything.

It has been two weeks since I've been in the band, and so far we've been in practice for five times. The guys are incredibly talented, and I even found out that they even have a voice of their own. It's funny how Gigi never allowed the guys to sing back-up when they can.

Over the weeks we've become really tight, me and the guys. It's quite predictable yet unpredictable at the same time, how they are always up to no good and never seem to run out of pranks for each other. I've seen both Alan and Train being pranked the most, probably because Sebastian and Mitch are more mischievous. Then again, Mitch has been pranking Sebastian quite often too, so I guess we all know who to nominate as best prankster in the universe.

I'm lucky enough to be a girl, otherwise I would've been involved in the prank too, and something is telling me that I'm most likely to be the victim. It's scary to imagine the guys pranking a girl, but it's scarier to know the possibilities of that happening.

I got changed into my work uniform and waited outside of the house with Dave who happens to be checking his reflection still, except this time instead of a mirror, he chose a window.

"What, can't a guy look good?" he said defensively as I gave him one of my looks.

"Dave, honestly, you still look the same after all that hairdo." I said bluntly.

"You're just jealous because wax doesn't work for you." He smiled satisfying at his reply.

"Whatever you say." I responded dryly.

We waited for a few more minutes before Dad arrived. As usual, I tried my best to hide my face as I make my way into the restaurant. To be honest, after nearly three months of working here I'd thought someone would find out already, not that I'm complaining.

Since I was a few minutes early I decided to help out with setting the table cloths onto the tables. People would think that it's an easy task, but not when you have nearly fifty tables of different sizes it's not.

I felt a tap on my shoulder and I turned my head sideways to see who it was, but there was no one.

          "Boo."

I jumped and accidentally slapped his face with the cloth that I was holding.

"Oh my gosh I am so sorry!" I apologized hastily. Seeing that he wasn't responding I was scared to death. "Train, are you-"

"I was just messing with you." He gave a toothy grin.

"Train!" I slapped his face with the same piece of cloth the second time, only with intention this time.

"Ow." He winced. "The girl can really slap."

"The guy really deserved it." I beamed. "So, which tea do you want today?"

"I didn't come here for tea actually." He licked his lips. "Just here to bug a fellow friend."

"Yeah, I saw that coming." I said while resuming with my work.

"The band is going well, I'm glad that practice is fun now." He chuckled. "We were never allowed to have fun."

"Well, you're allowed now, no one's drawing the lines for anyone." I said. "But you guys are seriously extreme. I can't believe you guys made Alan jump down from the roof..."

"Well, it wasn't very high up, the guy can manage." He smiled. "We're guys Des, we do crazy things."

"I have a brother and we live together." I laughed. Those words really can tell a lot.

"Oh, speaking of living together, have you heard from Sebastian that he got a single-storeyed house near Dream Arts?"

          "What?"

"Actually, his dad got it for him." He corrected.

"Why does he need a house? Is he moving out or something?" I frowned in confusion.

"Hah, well as funny as it might sound, Sebastian is requesting for the guys to move in together." He smiled crookedly. "Kind of like a band house."

"Whoa, that's so cool." I cheered. "I'm taking no part in this because I'm a girl."

"Yeah we know." He said. "Besides, it really won't work very well for you since you have to head out for work from time to time, the guys will get suspicious."

"Right." I nodded slowly. "The guys still have no clue about any of this right?"

"My lips have been sealed ever since."

"Good." I said in relief. "Hey do you mind passing me that cloth?"

          "Okay-"

Train looked shocked for a second and I was confused by his expression. It's just a table cloth, there's no need to overreact-

"Train!" I shrieked as he drapes the cloth over my head, covering my entire body besides my foot. Just when I was about to throw the cloth over a tight grasp at my arm has prevented me to do so.

"Hey T, I knew I'd find you here!" a familiar voice came pouring out from behind me and I was momentarily stunned. Is that...Mitch?

"Well, you found me." Train faked a laugh. I could tell that he was panicking even though I couldn't see him.

My heartbeat began to rise as I tried my best not to flake out. Mitch is in the restaurant. What is he doing in the restaurant? Mitch was never a fan of Asian food! I was sweating wildly under the cloth but I resisted the urge to wipe it off my eyes.

"Hey, who's underneath there?" Mitch asked suddenly.

          "What?"

"There. Why is there a cloth over this poor person?"

"Oh, you mean this guy." Train muttered. "Uh, the guys here are playing a game."

          "Eh?"

"You know, the hide and seek game." Train stammered. "It's kind of their daily warm up before working. This fellow worker is hiding underneath this cloth and I'm guarding him."

"Whoa really? Is this what you do when you hang around this restaurant? Interesting." Mitch said surprisingly. "Anyway, I was only here to check you out for a while since I heard from the guys that you love the tea here. I'm actually heading to the grocery store. Any idea where it is?"

"Down there." Train pointed. "There's a huge supermarket."

"Oh sweet, okay." Mitch said. "I'll see you later."

          "Bye."

Train held onto my arm to stop me from removing the cloth just yet. Just when he was about to let go the grasp got tighter as if he was tensed.

"Oh I forgot to tell you something." Mitch returned. "You know about Sebastian's new band house right? We're planning to move into it this weekend. We've all got our approval from our parents, we'll see what you decide."

          "Um, okay." Train mumbled.

When Mitch finally disappeared I flung the cloth over and was grateful to be released from the stuffy situation. I heaved a sigh and calmed down a little.

"That was too close for comfort." I breathed.

"Tell me about it." Train looked as relief as I do. "Seems to me like you're gonna need a new table cloth. This one is soaked with your sweat."

"I blame Mitch." I grabbed the cloth and tossed it to the back. "Thanks."

"No problem." He smiled. "But you really have to thank Mitch for being so gullible. If it was Sebastian we'd be in hot water."

"You don't say." I laughed. "Okay, I think I better get back to work before Meg turns a smile at me."

          "Should I head back?"

"You can stay here if you want." I shrugged casually as I reached for a new piece of cloth. "Unless you have something better to do."

"I doubt that." He raised a brow.

We hung out a little longer before Train left to run an errand. Meg soon approached me with one of those looks. After working in here for a while Meg is beginning to treat me like a sister and vice versa. It can get really odd because of the age gap between us, but besides that Meg really acts like a sister to me.

"Nice to see you two getting along." She nudged.

"What do you mean by that? We get along all the time." I smirked.

"Oh really? Do you need me to remind you the first time you two met here in this restaurant, and when there was this awkward silence-"

          "It wasn't that awkward."

"Right." She nodded slowly. "But the boy is gone now, so I'm afraid I can't excuse you for having a chat. Get back to work!" she grinned.

"Aye-aye." I saluted and pulled the notepad out of my pocket, heading towards our first customer with a smile.
