PROMPT: An imagine for Bofur (hope you don't mind, I gave myself creative freedom with this one.).
You don't know what is was about the dwarf that made your heart flutter, but it was definitely something to speculate about. You had always wondered how his braids could defy gravity the way they did, and how his moustache and goatee could maintain the balance that they always had. There were so many things about him that made you wonder, and they drew you to him so much that you grew a bit concerned sometimes. You had even been teased by your friends for liking the goof of a dwarf, but you couldn't care less.
Now that you were on a quest with him and the others, everything was stronger than before. It was intensified so much because of your close proximity, and you cursed Gandolf because you knew that he had something to do with you being on this quest. You couldn't seem to look Bofur in the eye whenever you had a conversation with him, and you were pretty sure that he was starting to take notice of it. The boys poked fun at you for your shyness whenever Bofur was gone.
One day, as you were clearing off the dirty dishes from the supper, Bofur joined you and took up a few plates to clean for himself. He was quiet for a while before he finally spoke and broke the somewhat awkward silence. ''I get the sense that you don't like me,'' he stated bluntly and you couldn't help but let your jaw drop.
''I-I... w-why would you think that?'' you stuttered out nervously. You were thankful for the fact that our hands were occupied with cleaning or else you'd be fidgeting like crazy.
''You try to avoid talking to me and when we do talk you seem very uncomfortable,'' he explained.
With a deep sigh, you replied with a, ''It's not that I don't like you.''
He gave a sound of what seemed like relief before he let out a small chuckle, ''Well, thank goodness! I was convinced that you hated me.''
''I could never hate you,'' you smiled at him. You both looked at each other for a moment before diverting your gazes back onto the dishes.
''Nor I you,'' he admitted before adding a quiet, ''In fact, I quite like you.''
You blushed at his words and gave your own, ''Me too.''
''I think,'' he started with a bit more of a confident tone to his voice, ''If we make it out of this alive, I would like to properly ask to court you.''
''I think,'' you repeated his starting words with a large grin, ''that when we make it out of this alive, I would like to properly say yes."
