Max
I wake up to the sight of Senna sitting on Ally's side of the bed, staring at me. He lies back down, resting his head on my legs.
''Goedenmorgen, Senna.'' I greet the dog with a smile, but he doesn't react. I should probably teach him Dutch first...
''Hey, wake up sleepy head!'' I yell in english, and he wags his tail. That's better. I get out of bed, walking to the kitchen to get some coffee and feed Senna. He eagerly eats the left over pizza I give him, whilst I sip my coffee, and try to text Ally.
Max: Good morning beautiful. How r things?
Ally: Hiii, I really mis u. it's hard, seeing the lawyer today..
Max: So soon??
Ally: it's medical stuff.. my mom has to sign DNR papers, it's how she wants it
Max: DNR??
Ally: OMW we watched Greys Anatomy together
Ally: It's the papers that Denny Diquet signed
Ally: It says that if she dies, they should not try to bring her back.
Max: Ohhhhhh, those papers Izzy ignored?
Ally: Exactly, my brainiac.
Ally: How's training?
Max: Jake is coming over, torture is starting today
Ally: If you die, let Jake look after Senna
Max: That's a bit harsh :(
Ally: Then don't die. Making a will is hard, trust me, I know.
Max: I'll never leave u.
Max: U know that.
Ally: I know..
Max: How are you holding up baby
Ally: I'm not, my mum is keeping me together
Ally: Which is funny because that's my job
Ally: You should hear her death jokes
Ally: They are god awful.
Max: She's joking about death?
Ally: her way of handling it, she's doing pretty good, making peace and all that.
Max: That's good, baby x
Ally: Have to go , lawyer is here.
Ally: Love you.
Max: Love you more.
I put my phone down, looking back at where Senna is laying on the sofa. I really miss having Ally around, and I'm sure he does too. It's only been a week, and Ally isn't coming home until her mother... I don't even want to say it. Just as put my cup in the sink, there's a knock on my door.
Jake is here.
I open the door, letting Jake pass with his gym kit and his gym bag. Today is going to be hard.
''Good morning, champ. How's everything?'' He asks, smiling broadly. I wish I could smile that way.
''Things are okay, I just wish I could be with Ally, but with the unveiling in a few days, and season almost starting, I can't be there.'' I sigh, walking with Jake out to the balcony. He starts setting up, and we are silent for a few moments.
''When is she coming back?'' He asks without looking up. I sigh, barely being able to an the words out loud.
''When her mother dies, Jake... She only has a month or so left.'' I say, feeling my heart break. I really like Ally's mom, and I still can't believe this is happening. Jake walks towards me, resting his hand on my shoulder.
''Max, I'm really sorry. But you know the best way to clear your head...?'' He asks, turning to the gym equipment. I look back at him with a small smile.
''You're evil. Let's do it.'' I say, and we start with the rigorous training session.

After the gym session, Jake has left, and I took a long, cold shower. I was desperately trying to clear my head, thinking of ways to try and help Ally. I got dressed, and decided to ask the one girl I know that understands everything- Victoria.
Max: Are u busy
Vic: Niet, what's up?
Max: Can we skype
Vic: Okay.. lemme find my laptop.
After a few minutes, I log onto Skype, connecting with Victorias profile. The screen lights up, and I see Victoria in Dad's house in Belgium.
''You're at dad's?'' I ask, walking with the laptop to the lounge.
''Yeah, me and Blue Jaye are going ice-skating tommorow.'' She states matter-of-factly.
''Jealousy through the roof.'' I laugh and Victoria just shakes her head.
''You lived here, it's my turn now. Anyway, what do you so urgently need to discuss with me?'' She asks, rolling her eyes. I take a deep breath, before continuing.
''It's Ally. Things aren't looking good for her.'' I say truthfully, and Victoria starts to look concerned.
''On a scale from 1 to 10 how bad is it?'' She asks.
''Her mom is dying, sis.''
Victoria let out a gasp, covering her mouth with her hand.
''I knew it was bad, but not that bad. What is she going to do now?'' She asks, wiping a tear from her eye. I sigh.
''Her mom has made peace, but Ally is losing the only family she has left, she is not handling this well. What do I do Vic, how do I help her?'' I ask sincerely, and my sister nods.
''Well first of all, she has to know she still has family. We might not be blood, but we love her. She is going to need all the support she can get. And in terms of you helping her, don't do any stupid guy things.'' Victoria lectures, and I scoff.
''I don't know what you mean, infact I'm so offended.'' I say, mock angry, and Victoria just stares at me through the screen.
''You're also known for only dating a girl for a month or so.'' She comments.
''Ally and I have been together for two months! And two more unofficially before I asked her.'' I try to defend myself, even though I know my sister is right.
''Look Max, I know all this is a bit much for you, Ally was supposed to be the calmness in your life. But her life is being royally screwed, and she needs you to be her 'calm' right now.'' Victoria starts, and I feel my heart shatter.
''Yeah, you're almost 20, and being in a serious relationship wasn't in the cards for you, but now you have Ally. She started her life over for you, at least be there until her life is bearable again. Okay?'' She finishes, and I swallow the lump in my throat.
''Victoria, you know me. You know how I was with girls. They didn't matter because everything was fast-paced in my life, including them. But not Ally, not her. She makes me want to be a better person. She inspires me to live and enjoy the slow moments, oh Vic, the slow moments are the best in life. I can't let her go...'' I trail off, seeing Victoria smile at me.
''Who are you, and what did you do to my brother?'' She smirks, and we both chuckle.
''I'm proud of you, I literally am always so proud, it's actually irritating. It's awful being the middle child with no talent.'' She winks at me.
''Niet, stop underestimating yourself. We're Verstappens, excelling is kind of in our blood.'' I smile at her, and she looks happy.
''I would choose no one else to be my annoying brother. Anyway, I have to go, Dad is taking Kelly to dinner, so Blue Jaye an I are going to watch the Lego Batman Movie.'' She grins.
''Tell her I miss my little star. I miss you both.'' I pout, and she just laughs.
''I'll tell her, be good, and tell Ally I miss her a lot! Byyyyyyye!''
''Bye, Vic!'' I hang up on the video call, falling back on the sofa cusions.
Senna nudges my knee with his nose, and I see his leash in his mouth. I smile.
''You want to go for a walk boy?'' I ask, and he wags his tail.
''Jake murdered my legs today, but we'll give it a shot.'' I say to the pup as I snap on his leash, heading towards the beach.
