I groggily open my eyes.
I almost scream.
What am I seeing? Is this real? No... it can't be. I must be hallucinating. That's all.
No, no, no. This goes against nature. I just don't want this to be true right now.
A hand reaches forwards.
Other than my mouth, I don't move. I let out a shrill screech and black out again.
I see Dimitri. His face is warm, loving and accepting. I smile and run towards him, ready to dive into his arms.
Then he looks to the right.
I follow his gaze. There is a mirror. It reflects the both of us. There isn't anything wrong with the mirror. It doesn't leave me out or Dimitri. It's an ordinary mirror. However, it still sends shivers up my spine. My reflection is still me, but I'm a Strigoi.
I turn to Dimitri in fear. The loving face is now contorted with disgust and betrayal. He quickly backs away, fleeing. For some reason, I'm unable to move, to chase him. Or maybe it's just my conscience that doesn't want to kill him.
Just as I'm about to crumple to the ground, there's a tap on my shoulder, and I look behind me.
It's Dimitri again, only Strigoi, like me. I should feel relieved that I can't hurt him anymore, that he's the same as me so we can be together. But instead, my heart crumples. This cold face is not what I want to see.
Almost as if on my will, the face's expression changes yet again to a worried one. Why are you worried, Dimitri?
"Rose. Rose. Wake up." A voice sounds. I open my eyes slowly.
I scream.
"W-who are you?" I question nervously.
"You don't recognize me, Rose? Or should I say, my dear Roza?"
