Castiel

Cas trudged down the stairs and into the kitchen, looking around he decided to skip breakfast again, not really feeling hungry. He waited on the couch for Dean to pick him up. Like usual. He turned on Netflix and resumed on the episode of iZombie he left off on.

The roar of the Impala could be heard as soon as the episode loaded. Typical Dean. Jimmy thought. True. Cas agreed.

He walked out to the Impala and climbed in, suddenly feeling very awkward because of the incident last night. Sure Dean didn't know about it, but Cas experienced it. He basically caused it.

The Angel kept his gaze at the tree in his front yard. He could feel Dean staring at him, waiting for Cas to look at him and maybe give him an explanation to his behavior last night.

He slowly looked over at Dean, offering a small smile. One Dean didn't return. His best friend kept a hard stare on him waiting for him to say something.

"Good morning, Dean." Cas greeted, trying his best to control his annoyance. Dean looked at Cas expectantly. Cas furrowed his eyebrows acting like he didn't know what Dean was doing. "Is there something the matter?" Dean sighed, shaking his head.

"You ready?" He cleared his throat. Cas nodded looking out the window again. "Alright." Dean mumbled pulling out of the driveway.

The ride was pretty quiet, with the exception of Bon Jovi playing quietly in the background. Cas watched the houses pass out the window when suddenly Dean gasps and turns up the radio. Runaway by Bon Jovi filled the car. Cas jumped and Dean grinned over at him, starting to sing along badly.

"She's a little runaway." He sang taping his hands on the steering wheel. Cas smiled. The first real smile in days. It felt good to be able to smile again. He relished in the feeling for as long as he could. Before reality would catch up with him.

The windows were rolled down making Deans hair fly messily. The sun peeked up from behind the trees shining around Deans smiling face, making him look almost angelic. Too bad you can never have him. Cas sighed to himself. Jimmy was always there to suck the joy out of everything.

"C'mon, Cas. Sing with me." Dean grinned. Cas blushed and turned to the window ignoring him. Dean turned it up even louder if that was even possible, singing even louder. Cas continued to ignore him, watching the houses pass.

After the song ended Dean turned it down to its original state, looking over at Cas who looked at Dean the same time. They locked eyes for a moment before Dean turned his attention back to the road. Cas looked away awkwardly, remembering the wing incident from last night.

Pulling into the parking lot Dean turned the car off and looked at Cas who was picking up his backpack off the floor. The Angel looked over to Dean and they locked eyes for the second time that morning. Castiel shifted slightly and scratched the back of his head when a picture of last night popped into his head.

Dean looked down at his watch and cussed under his breath. "We better get going. First period starts in 5 minutes." Cas nodded and opened the door, climbing out. Dean following after. The two walked into the school and made there way to their lockers.

Charlie skipped over to Castiel smiling broadly. "Heya, Bitch!" She held up the live long and prosper sign with her hand and Cas gave her a small smile. He shut his locker and Charlie threw her arm over his shoulder. They walked to lunch together, talking about the latest season of Doctor Who.

They sat down at their usual table, Ash being the only one there so far. "Hey bros." He waved.

"Hey, Ash!" Charlie greeted cheerfully. Castiel only nodded. Charlie opened her Wonder Woman lunch box and began eating. Castiel again wasn't feeling very hungry, so he didn't eat.

"What's up dude? You aren't gonna eat?" Ash asked through a mouthful of burger. Cas shook his head, keeping his gaze on the table.

"Hey, guys!" Jo walked over with the rest of the group, including Dean which was unusual. He usually sat with Lisa and her gang. Dean smiled at everyone and took the seat next to Cas, beginning to eat his lunch. Kevin, Ash and Jo looked at Cas and exchanged confused looks that didn't go unnoticed by Dean. Or Castiel.

"What's up, Cas." Dean asked softly. The group listened intently. Cas shook his head.

"Nothing. I'm fine." He insisted. The group exchanged looks again and Cas caught on. He quickly stood.

"Cas?" Dean started but Cas cut him off.

"You know what? No. I'm done telling everyone I'm fine one million times. I'm completely one hundred percent fine. And if you don't think so you need to get some glasses because I am fine so just stop." All mouths were hung open at Castiels response. He never speaks up for himself and it shocked everyone.

Tears sprung in the back of the Angels eyes. He quickly made his way outside, ignoring Deans calls to come back. He opened the huge doors and made his way to the bleachers on the other side of the football field, getting as far away from the school as possible. Once he was sure he was in the clear, he let the tears fall. All the pent up emotion he's had to deal with came spilling out of his eyes. The Angel sat on a chair left behind the bleachers and put his head in his hands.

He tried to make the tears stop but they kept coming. "Castiel!" He heard a familiar voice call. That stubborn bastard. He thought. Why can't he just listen to me?

Dean eventually made his way behind the bleachers and Cas tried his best to silent his sobs. Dean rushed over to the Angel and kneeled in front of him. Dean grabbed his best friends wrists and forced him to look at him.

"Castiel... please tell me what's wrong..." Dean said barely above a whisper.

"Dean" Cas whimpered. Dean immediately pulled him into his embrace. Cas sobbed into Deans chest, holding onto him afraid if he'd let go Dean would be gone.

"Shhh... I've got you.." Dean whispered into his ear. He tried to stop his tears again for Deans sake but he physically couldn't. "Just let it out, buddy. It's alright." Dean said as though he just read the Angels mind. Cas sobbed harder, making a wet spot on Deans shirt.

"Dean... please... don't leave me." Cas sobbed.

Dean chuckled, "I'm not going to leave you, Cas. Why would I leave you?"

Because I'm a monster... Cas thought. He didn't say it out loud, instead he left it unanswered.

Eventually after many minutes the tears dried out and Cas was still clinging to Dean like his life depended on it. Leather and motor oil. Classic Dean smell. Castiel smiled sadly, knowing Dean couldn't see it.

Cas finally pulled out of Deans embrace and wiped his eyes. "I'm sorry, I-"

"Don't." Dean cut him off. "You know I'm always here for you." Cas nodded. Moments later Dean stood up and reached a hand out for Cas to take. He did so and Dean pulled him up to his feet. "C'mon let ditch. You need a break." Dean gave Cas a small smile. Castiel nodded, not really realizing what he just agreed to. Dean led him back to the parking lot and opened the Impala door for him. Cas smiled slightly at him and climbed in. Dean closed the door and ran around the other side, climbing in and starting the car. They pulled out of the parking lot and they said nothing the entire ride. Not even the radio was on to full the silent space like usually.

Cas rested his head on the window, closing his tired eyes. Dean glanced back at the Angel and smiled sadly as Cas began to drift off.
