Another busy school week has passed. This just means one thing, the tests are coming closer and closer each time and I don't know if I am prepared at all or not.
The tests we're taking weeks from now will determine 25% of our final grade. That is quite big and I can't have a grade lower than 90% in equivalent.
Having A+ marks has been in my nature ever since I was in elementary school. There are two types of people who get an A+ mark. People who are naturally smart and would get a high mark just from stock knowledge, and then the other type would be people who stays up until three o'clock in the morning to study.
Unfortunately, I am kind of in the middle.
I take out all the stuff from my bag and scatter it on my bed. Books, notebooks, and piles of paper filled my bed, as well as a couple of pencils and pens.
I sighed before organizing them. In able for me to study properly, I should at least know where I could get the right notes and lectures from. I flipped through the piles of papers as I look for my reviewer that I started on school this week but the script for our final project is what I ended up finding.
I separate it from the rest of the papers and set my notes aside. I sat on my bed before scanning through the script, remembering what made me write it.
Before I entered high school, my future is already set for me. My father and my mother are both doctors, and as their only daughter, my future has been molded and sculpted by them.
I will be a doctor, because I should be a doctor.
It's not that I have anything against it, but all of the high grades, the medals and honor certificates that I get after I work my ass off... they're all for my parents. I want to see them proud of me. I want them to be happy.
They want a good future for their daughter, and it is my obligation to follow everything they say.
A teardrop suddenly drops on the piece of paper i'm holding, realizing that my eyes are producing tears I wasn't aware of.
"Eunji?" My mom calls as she knocks my door before opening it. I quickly wipe my tears away with the back of my hand before turning to face her.
"Hey mom." I say, crumpling the script into a ball behind my back.
"Dinner's in the fridge, okay? Your dad and I are going to work now." She says as she turns around. Then she turns back to face me again.
"Oh, and keep studying! You wouldn't want to disappoint us now, would you?" She smiles as I forced a smile back.
"Of course not."
