all lies.
they were all lies, she thought to herself while picking up the pieces of her own heart.

Zonnique.

The usual scream that alerted me to wake up came and I woke up out of a somewhat deep sleep and got out of the bed. Unbelievably the scream got even louder as I walked out of my bedroom and into my daughters room. She was standing in her crib and holding onto the railing of it, while bouncing up and down. What child has this much energy in the morning? Once she saw me she stopped her fake tears and smiled. I walked over to her and carefully picked her up out of the crib.

"Morning sunshine." I kissed her cheek and she scrunched her face up as if she didn't want one.

She giggled. "Ew. Mommy." She said ever so sweetly causing me to laugh along with her. Kaycee is three years old and I had her when I was sixteen. Not the best choice but, I got blessed with the most beautiful baby ever.

"Ready for breakfast?" I asked and she nodded her head. I walked out of her room and walked straight downstairs. I placed her down on her feet while, I  walked I into the kitchen to prepare breakfast. I grabbed a box of cereal and two bowls along with the milk. I poured milk and cereal into both of the bowls and sat them on the table.

"Kaycee, baby! Come eat and then you can finish playing." Her little feet came rushing into the kitchen and she got herself up onto the chair, sitting down.

I sat across from her and began eating. She looked up from her bowl and at me. "Mama?"

"What's wrong, boo?" She rarely asked me questions about anything, honestly. If it didn't concern her getting new toys or extending her bedtime she didn't care.

"When is daddy coming home?"

I wasn't expecting that type of question. Daniel had been on tour for two months and we both barely see him when he's here. "He's coming home tonight. I hope." She just nodded and continued to eat her food. Sometimes I think him not being here bothers her a lot, she just doesn't show it as much. No child should ever have to feel that way.

The house phone rung snapping me out of my thoughts. I stood up and walked over to it, picking it up.

"Hello?"

"Mornin', baby." His cute morning voice came through the phone. "What you up to?"

I leaned up against the wall with a smile on my face. "Nothin', just woke up not to long along and ate cereal with Kaycee."

"And how is the other little one doin'?"

"The little alien is good, they've been kicking the hell out of my stomach since last night though."

He chuckled. "He don't like being squished up in there all day. My mans ready to get out."

"How you know it's a boy?"

"The way I was putting in work, I'm confident it's a boy."

"Whatever." I left out a soft giggle and placed my hand over my stomach, rubbing it in circles. "Dan, when are you coming home? Tonight right?"

"Tomorrow, I promise. I got something to handle tonight, maybe I'll be at the house by midnight."

I sighed. "You said that yesterday. Could you please just come home tonight? I really need a break."

"Mhm, I gotta go babe. I love you and I'll talk to you later."

Before I could even respond back the line went dead. I shook my head and hung the phone up. Yesterday's turned into tomorrow and tomorrow turns into another week or so. Since it's clear that I need a break, I decided on taking Kaycee to my moms house would be great.

12:14 pm.

I grabbed Kaycee's SpongeBob backpack out of the backseat and then closed the door. I held onto her hand as we walked up the steps to my mothers front door. "You wanna knock?"

She nodded and started banging on the door and then stopped once she heard my moms voice. "Oops." She looked at me and started laughing and so did I.

My mother opened the door with the most annoyed look ever. "Which one of y'all banging on my door like you ain't got no damn sense?"

I looked down at Kaycee and she looked at me. We pointed to each other and the burst out laughing. My daughter is most definitely my best friend. "I told her to do it."

"I should've known. She bad just like you." My mom said while shaking her head.

I giggled. "But, could you please watch her until tomorrow? I need a little break, I don't want to get too stressed out."

"Where's that Daniel boy? The one that got you pregnant the second time?"

"Somewhere working, I guess." I shrugged and handed her the backpack I was holding. "But, I can't be mad he's making money for us."

She shook her head. "Or he's out cheating on you and leaving you to being the broke baby mama he takes care of."

I rolled my eyes in annoyance, not wanting to hear anything else she was saying. "Whatever, Bye ma. See you later babygirl." I leaned down and planted a soft kiss on Kaycee's forehead. I love my mom but, sometimes the things she says annoys me.

1:30pm.

Diamonds Dancing blasted through my speakers as I sat in front of the mirror braiding my hair into two braids. My childhood bestfriend, India was coming over and I couldn't have been more excited about it. My phone made a noise and I looked at it seeing that she had texted me.

india💕: open the door bitch! it's hot out here, you got me sweating out my hair.

I chuckled and took a minute to get myself up. Once I got up I exited my bedroom and walked downstairs to open the door for her. She pulled me into a big bear hug and spun us around. "I've missed you so much, my baby!" She squealed. She pulled away and looked at me. "I can't believe he really got you pregnant again, especially being that Kaycee is still so young."

"I died on the inside when I found out myself." I chuckled. "But, at least last time I didn't spend my pregnancy alone." I closed the door behind her and then followed her into the living room.

"He hasn't helped you out, at all?" She said in shock as she sat down.

I shook my head. "The only thing he really does is buy Kaycee new clothes, toys and whatever else. He's barely here."

"Are you sure he isn't cheating?"

I nodded. "Yes, I'm sure he isn't cheating. At least, I hope he isn't."

"What movie are we watching? The Little Mermaid sounds legit."

"NO. NO. NO. Kaycee has been making me watch that ever since she first seen it." I chuckled. "We're watching the Conjuring."

She looked like she was scared which made me laugh. I grabbed the remote and turned the moving on, getting comfortable on the couch.

10:00pm

Throughout every scary movie we've watched India's face had been locked on her phone. Her facial expressions showed some tea was being spilled. I nudged her shoulder snapping her out of the gaze with her phone.

"What's the tea?"

"I just checked Twitter and Instagram and the blogs, sites say Daniel got caught coming out some tricks house."

At that moment, my heart crushed. This couldn't be true but, it could be true. The not spending time with us and always being gone. I can't believe it...
