"Fils?" Dad sauntered into my bedroom while I was thinking about Evangeline. "I was wondering where you were earlier, I came by and decided to surprise you with lunch but I didn't find you. Where were you?"
I sat up in my bed, smiling. "I was out on a date with Ev. I took her out for some frozen yogurt after school and then a stroll passed the park. Sorry I missed lunch."
"Ev? As in Evangeline Ross?" Dad tries to hide his boiling rage on the inside. I thought he'd be glad to hear I was out with Ev. He said so himself, she's a good person to be around
"The one and only," I say. "In fact, I asked her to be my girl tonight and she accepted! We're officially dating!" Dad faked his enthusiasm and I drew the line there. "Why the sudden change? You used to like Ev. Claimed she's a great person so what about now?"
"Her father is Eddie Ross and her mother is Ruby!" Dad shouts, "My Ruby! You cannot and shall not be with someone who is part of the Ross gene!"
"Your Ruby!?" I laugh, "You cheated on her with her mother! She divorced you and you lost her to Eddie Ross! She isn't your Ruby anymore!"
Dad breathes heavily as he rubs his temples with his fingers, a sign that he is clearly angry. "You can't be with Evangeline, fils."
"Why? Because you say so?" I snort. "I don't think so, Dad! I like her and I will be with her!"
How could he have the audacity to tell me what to do!? I'm not a kid anymore! He can't control me like before! "I'll cherish every damn second with her! You can't stop me, Dad!"
"Oh, really!?" Dad turns an ugly shade of red, scowling. "Well how about this," he rises from my bed and points his finger toward me, his nose flaring and his gaze menacing. "I forbid you!"
