~ Chapter 6: Text Messages ~
[ Jackie’s POV: ]
I groaned out loud, rolling over in the comfort of my own bed. I was finally back in California, where I belong here inside my house in San Diego.
“Home sweet home,” I mumbled sleepily. Almost as if on cue, my phone vibrated from its sitting position on my nightstand, creating a buzzing sound to go off. I furrowed my eyebrows in confusion, reaching towards the device and picking it up into my hands.
34 new messages.
My eyes nearly bolted out of their sockets when I saw these thirty four new messages I had received was from one person only. And this guy really had some time on his hands to send all of these in under 3 minutes.
“Oh Justin…” I giggled, my heart clenching with joy to see my idol practically spammed me, instead of the other way around. Opening the messages, I decided to begin reading them, chuckling to myself at his sense of humor.

I let out a loud laugh, slapping my hand to my mouth to cover it. I did my best attempt to text back without dying of laughter.
To: Justin Bieber
Message:
– I’m awake! I’m awake! What’d I miss? :)
I pressed ‘send’ and slid out of bed, taking a quick morning shower and brushing my teeth before heading downstairs only to be greeted by nothing but the morning light coming through the windows and past the curtains.
My parents are currently both out of town. They were there to greet me at the airport and take me home and we spent some quality time together before they left in the middle of the night, while I was still fast asleep. It’s not like I have any siblings so I guess I’m home alone quite often.
I sighed, staring out the window while I quietly ate a grilled cheese sandwich I made myself not too long ago. Before I knew it, my phone buzzed again and I dropped my half-eaten sandwich and shifted my attention towards it.

- OH MY GOD
- **sec
- I meant sec, I swear!
- As in second?
I threw my head back in laughter, nearly falling over my chair before regaining my balance and picking my phone back up to text him back. Soon, we engaged in quite a long conversation about… Well nothing, really.
Jackie: Mhm, was that auto correct or just you doing that on purpose? :p
Justin: autocorrect, I SWEAR
Justin: I wouldn’t say something like that
Jackie: something tells me you would...
Justin: ok fine
Justin: u got me. Happy?
Jackie: It depends ;)
Justin: And if I asked you what you’re doing today, what would you say?
Jackie: Absolutely nothing. You?
Justin:Same. I was thinking about that pizza we were going to get together.
Jackie: Wait, really? Today?
Justin: Only if u want :)
Jackie: That sounds great!!
Justin: Awesome. It’s going to take me at least around 2 hours to get there though. Is it cool if Alfredo comes?
Jackie: I don’t mind!
Justin: Don’t worry, he won’t come with us to eat pizza, he wants to visit his cousin in San Diego.
Jackie: He has a cousin here?
Justin: Yeah, she moved in three weeks ago. Something like that.
Jackie: That’s fine! When you get to San Diego, I’ll text you my address okay? :)
Justin: Okay thanks baby
My heart skipped a beat at that last word. He called me baby. Is it bad to freak out over that? Yeah? Oh well. I don’t really have time to fangirl though, I have around two hours to get ready.
Challenge accepted.

I texted Justin my address about 4 minutes ago. Now I’m just sitting on the couch with butterflies in my stomach. My idol is going to take me out for pizza.
I’m practically going on a date with him.
Should I call it that? Maybe he just wants to be friends. I mean, he did say he likes me, but then added that I was a great friend already. Did he friend zone me or am I just over-thinking this?
“SWAG!”
My heart jumped up in fright at the random shouting coming from outside.
“SWAG!”
“SWAG!”
“SWAAAAG!”
I immediately recognized the voices to be Alfredo and Justin shouting from my front porch. Wow, they’re here already?
Standing up, I opened the front door to see that I was right and, suddenly, I was the center of attention for two pairs of eyes.
“Jesus, do you guys not know how to use a doorbell?” I giggled, slapping a hand to my chest, where my heart is located. “You scared the crap out of me.”
“Us shouting ‘swag’ is the doorbell,” Justin winked before pointing inside. “May we come in?”
“Of course,” I blushed, stepping aside to let the two in.
“Jackie, this is my friend Alfredo. Fredo, this is Jackie,” he introduced us, and I looked up at Alfredo, who was smiling at me.
“Hi,” I shyly shook his hand.
“Nice to meet you,” he chuckled, messing up my hair with his other hand.
“Hey, watch it. I spent a while on this,” I pouted, fixing my hair teasingly.
“Oh my god, you’re just like Justin,” he snorted, and suddenly Justin and I were looking at each other. Everything was quiet as an awkward silence fell over the house. I was trying really hard not to blush more than I already was. After what felt like literally three hours, Fredo cleared his throat. “I’m going to go take the car to my cousin’s house. That okay, Justin?”
Justin’s eyes remained locked on mine before he blinked a couple of times and looked at his friend.
“Yeah,” he whispered. “Yeah, that’s okay. Jackie and I are just going to walk to the nearest pizza place.”
“Sounds good,” I nodded, trying to break the awkward air in the room.
“Alright, see you two later,” Alfredo smiled before Justin handed him the car keys and he was soon out of sight. I turned my attention towards Justin again and watched as he pulled a pair of sunglasses from his pocket and put them on, covering his head with the hoodie he was wearing afterwards.
“You ready?” he smirked lightly at me. I couldn’t help but smile back.
“Always.”
Justin started towards the door and opened it, letting me get out first before he followed after me. We then began walking and I could tell Justin was completely relying on me to know where we were going, since I would be the one to know where a pizzeria would be located.
“So is this your attempt at a disguise?” I laughed softly, trying to make conversation.
“Hey, it’s all I could do right now. We should be fine, though. My fans don’t even know I’m in San Diego. In their minds, I’m in L.A right now,” he pointed out.
“Oh right, because of what was on the news and stuff,” I said, immediately wanting to slap myself after I had said that. Why the hell am I so stupid?! Why would I bring up the media to him? They practically exposed a negative side of him, which wasn’t his fault because he was drunk.
“Right,” he almost whispered. “The news… And stuff.”
“Justin, I’m sorry…” I felt my stomach churn uncomfortably. He turned his head and looked into my eyes.
“It’s okay,” he mumbled, stuffing his hands into his pockets and looking away again. “You practically told me you’re my biggest fan… I don’t expect you to stay away from gossip sites to find out the latest news about me or anything.”
“I don’t listen to them. I know you’re not a bad person, Justin,” I reassured him. “My view of you hasn’t changed. You’re still my idol.”
Justin didn’t say anything.
We continued to walk in silence and I let out multiple sighs every now and then. Soon enough, we had arrived at my favorite pizza place in town, and none of us ever spoke a word unless we were ordering what we wanted.
We chose a table to sit, one that was right by the window, and sat quietly before beginning to eat our meal. I noticed Justin staring out the window and it felt like he was here, but his mind just wasn’t. Five minutes passed by that he hadn’t looked me in the eyes ever since we sat down and I was beginning to feel like absolute shit.
Once I finished my slice of pizza, I felt my stomach churning again and I instantly knew it wasn’t because of what I just ate, it’s because of the tension I knew was being ignored in the air.
“Umm…” I heard Justin speak up, causing me to immediately lock eyes with him to see that he was finally looking at me. “I’m… I’m sorry.”
I titled my head in confusion, deciding to play dumb a little. “For what?”
“I’ve been quiet this entire time and I just wasted what could’ve been a fun day for us,” he sighed, running a hand through his hair.
“It’s alright,” I said softly. “Just sitting here with you is better than anything I could’ve been doing right now.”
His lips curled up into a slight smile and he chuckled lightly. “Thanks but… I’ve just had a lot on my plate so… Would you mind coming over to my hotel room tomorrow? We could hangout and maybe watch a movie or something.”
My heart fluttered at the invitation. “That sounds fun! Should I drive in early?”
“Nah, Alfredo can pick you up or something,” he smiled. “If you don’t mind.”
“Why would I mind?” I giggled.
“It’s Alfredo we’re talking about. He’s a crazy man,” Justin laughed.
“I’m pretty sure he’s not a psycho killer so I’ll be fine,” I smirked.
“What if he is?”
“What?”
“A psycho killer—What if Alfredo really is a murderer?” he grinned.
“I’ll take my chances.”
Justin eyed me up and down before leaning back on his chair. “You must be quite a brave girl,” he winked, and I practically died right about then.
“Really? ‘Cause I’m weak in the knees right now,” I mumbled, feeling my cheeks heat up.
