Alkira's pov -
(She is unconscious and hence the events described here are from her past memory and mind conversation.)
My mother often told me about her and her father's first meeting. How he saved her from falling off the hill during fighting rogues. How he had looked into her eyes and told her that from now on he is her guardian and he will save her from every demon whether they were of the outside world or hers.
My mother was a rogue when she met my father. She ran away from her house when her mother died protecting her from the daily beatings. She didn't have the strength to take more of the abuse from her father and pack hence she ran away. She told me that she never gave up on love. She believed that she will find her share of happiness if not here then somewhere else. One day she got her wish. She got her fairytale. She met my father. He was her man in shining armor. She told me that I too will get that chance. He will sweep me off my feet and we will be blissfully happy for as long as we live.
I want to believe her so badly that my heart hurts. But how can I keep hoping for that happily ever after when I know my mate is the one behind all my miseries? How can I love him knowing that he never loved me? He only used me as a ladder to climb the steps to reach his desired position. He ruined me. He played with my heart and tore it into pieces that can never be glued together. If somehow my new family got it together how can anyone love me with the ugly scars that will be there forever as a reminder of my gruesome past?
Now he is back in my life. Truthfully I dragged him back. He has to pay for his mistakes. I have to steel myself. I have to act like I still love him and am unaware of his betrayal. I will make him come after me and then without any remorse, I will crush him.
"What is happening to her, doctor? Why is she breathing so heavily? Do something."
Daimen! It's his voice, I think it is. But why is it so faint? And what are they talking about?
Ahhh!!
Why I can't feel myself?
"Will she be alright? This was the first response we got from her in the past three days."
I tried to move but it felt like my body was not listening to me.
"Kira, princess you need to wake up. You are now scaring us. If you are hearing me then please for us, wake up."
I again tried to open my lips to tell Xavier that I am listening but it was in vain.
"Sira!!"
I cried out at the top of my lungs.
"Relax Kira. I am here. You are just unconscious. I took this as an opportunity to talk to you. Tell me what you remember before you fainted."
She emerged out of the thick fog and stopped right in front of me. It was then that I took notice of my surrounding. I don't know where I was as the atmosphere was drenched with fog making it impossible for me to figure out anything.
"I remember seeing blue eyes and I felt him. He was somewhere around us."
"You are right. Zen was there I felt his wolf. Now we are in his house. Do you know what you have to do?"
"I know Sira. I will be careful around him. I know he is our mate but I also know what he did to us, to my pack, to my family."
"He and his wolf both are stronger than the last time we met him. Being an Alpha also adds to his strength. But he can never be stronger than us as he does not have alpha blood in his veins. We are pure Alpha blood. Moreover, I am an ancient wolf. So naturally I am stronger than his wolf too. But his strength is only physical, emotionally he is weaker.
When he was with us our connection made him strong. I know that I haven't shown myself because you were 16 at that time. But his wolf felt our connection. When his human decided to cheat on him and get physically involved with someone else his wolf got emotionally disturbed. We wolves are possessive so his wolf became distant from him, initially. I don't know how this human managed but after some time his wolf started talking to him again.
On that day when you overheard their conversation I knew that his wolf too was into it. I felt his hunger to reach the top. So mentally I sent him our hurt at their betrayal. He became weaker and when he saw us got shot his wolf lost it. In fact, for the past few days, he is more restless. I know that his human form is greedy but he too was hungry for power. He cheated on us. If he had tried then he would have stopped his human to betray us. But he let his greed overcome his love for us and for that, I will never forgive him."
"Me too."
"But I need to know how you feel. I know that I will never forgive him but I can forget, for you, if you want to go back to him?"
"Thank you for thinking about me Sira. But he is not important to me. I do not love him and never will. He is the reason why my family is dead. Why my pack is ruined? Whatever love I had for him died the instant when he messed with my family. If he only had cheated on me then I would have given him a second chance to prove himself. But no he dragged my family in between his selfish business. And for that, he has to pay. Mate or not, I don't need his love. The love of my family is enough."
When I finished my rant I noticed that she has a secretive smile on her Wolfy lips like she knows something that I don't. I don't like it but I also know that when the time will come she will tell me as asking before she is ready will only be futile.
"You are brave Kira. And I am happy and satisfied that I chose you to bind my soul with. There hadn't been a day when I am not proud of you. You are a spirited woman never lose it."
"You have helped me a lot too. So all credit should not go to me alone. We are partners."
"Okay. Anytime now you will be waking up. Ready to face the devil?"
"Yes".
