"Daddy!" Kellin whined from the kitchen, paci abandoned on the ground.
"Yes, kitten?" Vic called back from the living room. He was trying to piece together the bridge of a song, and it wasn't going so well.
Him and Kellin were officially one week into their ddlb relationship and Vic had never been happier, or more confused, in his life. He loved being needed, so it was perfect for him. But at the same time, he still had no clue what he was doing. At this point it was just rolling with the punches and praying that Kellin didn't have that many melt downs in one day. And on day three, Vic learned that he could have quite a few.
"Daddy!" Kellin refused to move from where he was, so he decided to wait for Vic to come to him. He had his toy cars all over the floor and didn't want to leave them behind. Vic was a big boy, so it was easier for him to come to Kellin, not the other way around.
"Princess, daddy is working." Vic sighed and ran a hand through his hair. He was considering cutting it for a second, but then remembered how much he loved it when Kellin twirled it in his fingers.
"But I want daddy!" Kellin pounded the ground with his fists.
"Well daddy wants you to shut up!"
That was the wrong thing to say.
Very, very wrong.
Kellin burst into tears. Sobbing, he threw himself all the way onto the ground, lying flat and curling up into a ball. He picked up his paci, but instead of putting the now dirty object in his mouth, he threw it at a wall, crying even harder when he accidently slammed his hand down on a toy car, cutting it open slightly on a pointy part on the edge.
Ah fuck.
Vic leapt up from the couch and ran to the kitchen, gasping when he saw the hot mess on the floor. He shock turned to fear as he saw the blood on his baby's hand.
"Oh god. Kellin, baby, what happened?" He reached out for the little who scooted away from his open arms.
"Daddy doesn't wuv me."
"No. Kells, come on. I'm so sorry. Daddy is just super stressed trying to write this album and I'm not really sure what to do and daddy is just having a very long day. I didn't mean to take it out on you. I'm really didn't mean to princess. Please forgive daddy."
Kellin just nodded softly and threw himself into Vic's arms, letting himself be picked up. He was carried to the couch by the other man, and set down on his lap.
"Now princess, the cuddle monster wants to cuddle. Is that okay?" He made a funny face at the little, who was calming down slowly.
"Yes!" He giggled as Vic wrapped his arms around him. "I want big boy kisses to!"
"Now honey, kisses aren't as cheap as cuddles. They cost... You're soul!" Vic faked a gasp and Kellin started to giggle even harder.
"Daddy already owns my soul, silly! I've given daddy all of me. It's all his." Kellin was drifting the line between little space and being big, wanting to really tell Vic how much he loved and appreciated him. He leaned in and pressed a soft kiss on Vic's lips, savoring the safety he found in the man's arms. It really was his home.
When they pulled away, foreheads together, softly sharing the air between them, Vic couldn't resist the grin spreading over his face.
"I know, Kells. I know."
