Seth's POV:

I presumed she didn't think I noticed. Evie was a coward, terrified of everything. She'd flinch at almost every sound but she was acting different. Worse.

I didn't really care it just confused me. Since she came back from the shop with the ingredients she was in a very... jumpy mood. She never looked at me but this time she literally made eye contact with the floor the whole time.

She had gone for a shower right before I left for my jog and then to come home to find her on my laptop. What shocked me the most was the courage she had to go on it. She seemed the type of girl who, even if you payed her a million, she wouldn't do something bad.

But yet, she accessed my laptop without permission and didn't hesitate. I had thought she was trying to steal money from my bank account or something. I mean, a poor maid, randomly on my laptop wasn't right.

I would have assumed she could have asked for what she wanted. I mean if she just wanted to know bus times, she could have easily looked it up at a bus stop on the way home.

There wasn't one far from here.

I couldn't help but frown, confused at her actions. No way would she have gone behind my back to go on my laptop just for bus times. I didn't know if she was being sly and doing something wrong but
I was going to find out.

She honestly didn't seem like a thief but you never know with people's. Humans were lying pieces of sh!t. No one was worth time, they were all the same. Two faced c*nts.

I let out a small sigh.

It was obvious she was hiding from me. I was mad when I found her with my laptop so I may have accidentally threatened to break her wrist. I wouldn't have regretted it if I hadn't seen the fear in her eyes when I said it.

She thought I was going to do it there and then. I let out a small groan. Out of all guys to be forced to have a maid, I was chosen. And out of every single maid in the world, he chooses the most sensitive and scared one.

Perfect.

Although she was truly annoying, she could be quite amusing. It was a rare scene though, the majority of the time she got on every last nerve. The first night I debated on actually kicking her out of the house... and a few nights after.

I began climbing the stairs. I had forgotten to unplug my treadmill. That sh*t ate more power than you would think. I made my way into my workout room and quickly unplugged it.

The last time I saw Evie was after my shower. I had taken a ten minute one after the jog and I saw her peak outside her door when I came out. The moment she saw me she hid straight away. That was about an hour ago.

I left the room, only for my eyes to land on Evie. She leaned over the banister, her eyes examining the downstairs.

"What are you doing?" She let out a scream when I spoke. I probably shouldn't have randomly came up behind her.

She jumped high at my voice causing her to lose her footing. With a small screech she went to fall down the stairs but I quickly caught her in a swift movement.

My hand curled around her waist and pulled her into an upright position.

Clumsy.

Her jaw tightened and her breath quicked when her eyes dropped to my arm around her waist. She looked nervous and her face grew a light pink colour. I almost didn't want to remove my hand, just to make her feel awkward.

"I don't know" She mumbled.

I sighed, letting go of her, "You... don't know what you were doing?

She seemed to hesitate before nodding, "Yes Sir"

I didn't like her hiding stuff. "How do you not know what you're doing?" I said, my voice lacing with frustration, "You do know, you're just being dumb and not telling me"

I should try not to be so harsh with her.

After a second she spoke up, "I was wondering if you liked Naughty Angel?" She seemed nervous saying the question. My brows knitted together, Naughty Angel?

"Is that your stripper name? I don't know what a Naughty Angel is"

Her eyes grew wide at my attempt of a joke, "I'M NOT A STRIPPER" She seemed to panic slightly, "It's cake, I promise"

I had to stop the corner of my lip twitching. Her, as annoying as it was, not getting my jokes was funny. How was she so serious?

I rolled my eyes, "It was a joke"

An annoyed look appeared on her face and she looked away in thought. She was probably giving out in her head about me.

"Are you cussing me out in your head for being rude?"

"NO" She definitely was due to the panic in her voice, "Naughty Angel is a type of cheesecake. It's one of my favorites so I thought maybe you'd like it. It's okay if you don't, I-"

"I'll try it" She seemed like she would pass out if she continued talking. Why did she have to be so fearful of every god damn thing?

I was surprised when she made eye contact with me, not looking to the ground. Her one eye watched me while the other was covered with her blonde hair.

"I'll go and start making it then if that's okay... Sir" She seemed to cringe slightly as if scared to say the word Sir. It made me feel old when she called me that, I honestly hated it. Master would probably be better but that word seemed very sexual so that was a no-go.

I nodded my head and without wasting another second she fled down the stairs. I blinked as she sped away. How did her last owner put up with her? Apparently he was a d*ck, but wasn't everyone?

------------------------------------------------

Was it finished yet? Once I had food in my mind, I wanted it. There was nothing to amuse me on the television right now and I was trying to pretend my essay for the course wasn't there.

I stood up and entered the kitchen only to find Eva smiling at the cheesecake. It was a color between milk chocolate and white chocolate. "It's done?" She let out a yelp like noise again. Really?

She spun around but didn't bother look at me. Instead of questioning her any further I walked toward the cheesecake. It looked ready and I wanted some. Like now.

I was stopped in my tracks when her light hand appeared on my chest. My eyes dropped down to it and as if my gaze was fire she ripped her hand away. "I'm so sorry. I was just.. I didn't mean to. I wasn't trying to hurt you or push you-"

"Stop apologizing" I interrupted her, "It's annoying" Was she really that scared to even make human contact? Or was it just me? If it was everyone it really p*ssed me off. I knew it wasn't her fault, it was probably something in the past and my guess was her old master.

"You can't eat it yet" She took me from my thoughts. It'll take an hour to set in the fridge if not more"

"An hour?" I couldn't help but be disappointed. I wasn't a patient person.

She paused, "You can lick the bowl or the big spoon if you wanted to taste it"

I internally smiled, the thoughts of baking with my mother appearing in my mind. She would always let me lick the rest off the spoon.

Evie seemed embarrassed at what she just said but I didn't care to much for it.

I had never heard lick it from the bowl before. Like a dog... I wanted to make a dog joke, calling her something like that but it probably wasn't best, for both of our sakes.

"No, I'll wait." I turned, leaving the room.

She didn't respond so I closed the door behind me. With a small sigh I picked up my laptop, deciding to start the essay. It was due soon enough and I only had half of it done.

I hadn't used it since I confiscated it from Evie but all I knew was that she had closed the browser before I saw anything.

I went to open up Word before noticing a google chrome still open at the bottom. I clicked onto it, my eyebrows raising when I noticed it was an incognito tab.

I blinked.

Had that idiot really just....

I couldn't help but chuckle. She had attempted to open a hidden tab but actually searched up the stuff on the normal browser. That's why the incognito was still open. I couldn't help but laugh, how does someone even manage that?

I paused.

If she was going to search something on a hidden browser was it important... no. She probably just didn't want me to know she was on my laptop. I closed the browser and pulled up Microsoft Word with a reluctant groan, I needed to finish it.

-----------------------------------------------------------------------------

I was done... finished... I couldn't physically type anymore. My brain was fried and I was tired after the jog. My thoughts were also on the cheesecake so I couldn't really focus.

I got some of it done so I had like only quarter of it left to do. Deciding that was enough, I saved the file and pulled up google chrome. Just before typing in YouTube my eyes went to the three lines in the corner.

Had she only searched up bus times? Obviously not.

I had put off looking up the history incase it was a... womanly need. I mean I understood if she wanted to keep that private but couldn't she search it on her own phone.

Oh god... did that mean I was living with a girl who would go psycho once a month? With a small sigh I brought up the history page.

I blinked.

What..

She... searched this....?

The corner of my lip twitched before it turned into a proper grin. I laughed. I actually laughed. She had taken my laptop to search up did guys w*nk. I was so done with her.

I don't know why I found it so hilarious but I couldn't stop laughing. Of all things to search. She wanted to know was it not normal for a girl not to mastureb*te often? And how often did guys w*nk?

Did I really want to know the answer of why she was-

I froze.

The smile on my face disappeared when I saw her first search.

Was...

How long does it take to make a black eye disappear?

My stomach flipped.

It made sense.

The ice pack I had found on the couch when I brought my laptop back down.

The fear in her when she came back from shopping.

The way she had her one eye covered.

You're such an idiot.

I probably should have been more tactical about it and asked her about why she covered her eye but I was to mad. I was blinded by anger at that moment.

I pushed myself up, my teeth gritted, sending my laptop to fly off my laptop and on to my ground. I bit my lip to hold back any cuss works as I climbed the stairs two at a time.

"EVIE!!" I bellowed, knowing she wouldn't answer but to warn her. I slammed her bedroom door open, glaring at her. How could she not tell me? How bad was it? Was she seriously putting herself through pain just to hide it from me?

Her eyes were wide with fear and she sat up on her bed, "I am so so sorry! I don't know what I did but I'm sorry. I probably didn't know you'd get mad" She had no clue why I was mad and yet she still apologized.

My jaw ticked when my eyes landed on the thick strand of hair covering her eye. "You're going to do what your told, understand?" It came out harsher than expected. As did everything else I said.

She nodded her head before I even finished my sentence, "Yes Sir" She was physically shaking and I almost felt bad. How could someone be so scared?

"Brush back your hair"

She paled.

All color was drained from her face which basically confirmed it all.

Her mouth opened in attempt to get some words out but she couldn't manage to speak. She looked on the verge of tears.

"Uhm" Her voice finally came although it was quiet, "I can't"

"Why's that?"

She stilled, "I just fixed my hair, I don't want to ruin it" The moment she said the words she realized how dumb they sounded and her face dropped. She was one of the worst liars I had ever met.

"I'm not asking you, brush back your hair" I snapped. I was being mean but I was concerned and annoyed she wouldn't show me. She could be seriously injured.

Her mind seemed to be telling her a million things because she zoned out, not any less scared. I felt a twinge of guilt. Was she always this scared or was I causing her to be like this?

It could seriously impact on her life, I mean she could end up in a mental asylum or something. At least she'd be off my hands then.

I walked toward her, noticing she wasn't looking.

You can do this, be nice....

Good luck with that.
